Athletico Madrid had a better budget than Barcelona so they don't have anything to complain about, although this season they have had a better attack than defense compared to other years.
I think that they have not be at the elite level they have been before. Although after beating Barcelona I actually believed that this was their opportunity to win the Copa Del Rey.

Everyone think Athletico Madrid will win the Copa Del Rey final since they defeated Barcelona in the competition and they don't have any big club to challenge them up. Real Sociedad is not doing well in the league but anyone that is playing final they will not play because that is there opportunity to qualify to win a title, Since from the first half the way I see real Sociedad start the game I get the believe that he will be very difficult for Athletico Madrid to defeat them and they end the game in a draw and real Sociedad succeeded in the penalty shootout.

Athletico Madrid just need to do there best in the Champions League competition so that they can get the opportunity to defeat Arsenal and qualify to next round, because currently they have miss many trophies this season, they have the last chance to win Arsenal or they end the season trophyless.

I watched their fans crying in the stadium, what a pity for them. The players should channel this energy toward the Champions League game they have against Arsenal. That is the best way to repay their fans for losing the final against Real Sociedad. I mean there is nothing against saying that Atletico Madrid played badly, doesn't mean they played badly on offense, they tried their best on offense, goals, many chances higher xG etc etc. But we can say that they played badly on defense, I mean to start the game 1-0 down already within the first few seconds is a proof of that, how could you let that header be a goal, hell goalkeeper could have walked and still reach, but he reacted so so so so late.

Their attacking intensity was good, they also did well when trying to lock down Sociedad's passive defense but their only flaw in this match was that their determination had no impact due to poor finishing.

Every team can have results like this. So the criticisms are certainly logical, but we must remember that football is a game played on the pitch. Who would have predicted that Barcelona would lose to Atletico Madrid at home? Atletico Madrid created many chances against Real Sociedad but couldn't capitalize on them. It's these kinds of results that make football enjoyable. If the favorites always won, football wouldn't be so enjoyable.

Thats what you get for underrating a team in a cup final. Atletico underrated Real Sociedad and they got punished for letting their opponent enact pressure on them. A cup final is very competitive. A poor club is going to take it serious, most especially a club that has never won that title before and for a long who has not won a cup for a long time. Going into the final, it has to be seriousness from all player. Ademola Lookman is the only player with more seriousness in that final. Every other player was too soft to my linking.

Honestly I was very surprised as Real Sociedad defeated Atletico Madrid in the Copa Del Rey final, because with the kind of performance Atletico Madrid pulled out against Barcelona both first leg and second leg in the semi final, I never expected they would be this cheap to Real Sociedad in the final. I have counted the trophy in favour of Atletico Madrid just as others did but the reverse was the case. I'm very impressed by Real Sociedad performance they deserved to win because they played a very good game to earned them that trophy.

I don't think Atletico Madrid is going to win champions league trophy with their poor performances, I'm not sure if they can make it to the final, although I'm finding it difficult to predict between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal that will qualify to the final due to their poor performances.

In my view I think they underestimate them and that is why they lose the trophy, because if you check the squad you will notice that Athletico Madrid have more talented players then real Sociedad this season. They have lose the league competition and now they didn't get hope to win the Copa Del Rey, they will now focus more in the Champions League because that is the last chance for them and if they didn't win they will definitely finish the season without a single reward or trophy this season again. Let see there performance against Arsenal in the Champions League and we will consider if they can eliminate Arteta in the competition or not.

If Athletico Madrid didn't win any title this season they should just look for new coach because I don't think the current coach can achieve anything for the club. The way they perform against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey semi final you will think they will be the favorite to win it but at ends they failed to defeat Real Sociedad.

This is definitely a raw fact. Honestly speaking, I'm tired of always watching a particular team dominate a league. Football ought to be competitive and not just some random games that can be easily predicted. Teams needs to step up at sometimes, and not just try to fit in into a league system without achieving anything. Take last season in the Bundesliga for example where we saw a bottom side team winning the title. No one expected it, but I guess the majority liked it. If something similar can happen in the la Liga, I think it's going to be a lot interesting, and not just some competition between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real sociedad actually pulled a nice surprise. I didn't even know that the Copa del Rey final was played that day, until I saw a congratulatory post from Fabrizio's page. I definitely want more of that surprises.

The champions League is full of tension, As the semifinals are sure to see both teams play their best. However, With Atletico madrid failure in the Copa del Rey, I doubt their strength against arsenal, as I believe Arsenal has the stronger team.

However, both teams are currently in poor form, but we shouldn't judged by poor performances in the domestic league, as they can improve in the champions league.

I believe that if Arteta and Simeone fail to lead their teams to the Champions League final, they may become very frustrated, and their coaching positions could be insecure. Mentally, I believe atletico madrid is better prepared than Arsenal.

I already expressed my opinion here regarding through the Atlatico Madrid defeat. When Atlatico Madrid defeated Barcelona, everyone was arguing that Atlatico Madrid will win but they don't make it obvious, and to be honest I already mentioned this reason. Like Atlatico Madrid is not that good to be considered for champion although they beat Barcelona because Barcelona match was totally different like those match Barcelona made so many mistakes and even their key player was also absent, and definitely due to this they didn't make any good progress against Atlatico Madrid and lose the tie.....

In match we didn't see any good progress from Atlatico Madrid side like it was only relying on Barcelona mistakes, such as defensive error as well as lack of finishing. So Atlatico Madrid win was not because of Semion quality despite it's happened due to Barcelona mistakes. If Barcelona didn't made a mistakes then definitely they won't give them defeat.t.

Barcelona will face Celta Vigo next tomorrow and this matchday the rival team Real Madrid will play early by facing Alaves, its important match to win for Barcelona how to make many points gap from Real Madrid and get early become the winner of La Liga. Celta Vigo actually not easy opponent team to defeat seeing the current standings fight to secure Europe League spot and want to finish higher standings position from Real Betis.

Despite failing to advance to the next round Barcelona's only hope now is to think about how they can win La Liga this season. Currently their focus is solely on one thing winning La Liga.
Currently the distance between their points and Real Madrid is also very far especially since these two teams currently only have one hope which is to win this competition only different from Real Madrid because they are quite far behind in points with the team above them with a nine point difference of course this makes Barcelona's steps more likely to win the title only now what they need to do is that every match they play must really maximize to be able to get points with the aim of not letting their eternal rivals catch up with the number of points left behind by them, Barcelona.

It's not that Atletico madrid played badly. They played well enough. But Real sociedad performed better than we expected. And they  definitely deserve the title. Atletico madrid were in good form. Sociedad players were confident against this  team. And in the end they were able to win. Sociedad players scored  2 goals in the first half. Atletico madrid were able to equalize the match with Alvarez's goal in  the 83rd minute. But Real Sociedad won 4 -3 in the penalty shootout.

Also, unlucky shots are big part of these type of upsets normally. Because Atletico Madrid had some great chances, and missed by an inch, and sometimes that happens, either goalkeeper saves by the finger tips, or you hit the wood work, or you miss by a small chance etc, like it does happen, or the ball bounces off funny. Basically, they had all the chances of winning the game and looked like they were about to, even in the extra times, but unfortunately for them, they have missed all those close chances.

But at least it's fun, right? As a Real Madrid fan, I'm glad Atlético ruined Barcelona's hopes of winning the cup and the Champions League title. Plus, it seems like Atletico is a good team to bet on underdogs. When Atletico is the favorite, you should bet on the opponent, when Atletico is the underdog, it's worth betting on them. I think I'll bet on Atletico in the Atletico-Arsenal clash. Even though Arsenal are so bad that the odds skew isn't as big as it could be.

If Atletico had played as they are playing in the last period, all season keeping clearly superior teams under pressure, we would certainly have had a different result.
Atletico is not bad as a team, in the sense that it has a lot of potential, from my point of view it just lacks "refining" and "perfecting" the team, otherwise it also has the basis to easily win the championship (obviously next season).

Let's say Barcelona continues to be as leaky defensively as ever, and Real Madrid remains in a galacticos crisis, Atlético will have a chance of winning the title. But the odds will be no better than 1 in 5 at best, an easy victory is out of the question as long as Real and Barcelona remain such rivals. Now I believe that the new coach can give Atletico a boost, Simeone has already exhausted his potential and even lost what he was once famous for - an iron defense.

Celta Vigo is in fifth place in the points table. Even then, the team's performance is very  irregular. They have won only one of the last  5 matches and lost in all three matches. So , their chances of winning against barcelona seem low. Besides , the match will be held at camp nou. Barcelona can also be considered as the favorite considering the home match.

Celta Vigo's past performance against baarcelona is very bad. Barcelona has won  four of the last 5 matches and there was one draw. Barcelona  also won Celta Vigo's home match this season  by a margin of 4-2 .

In that match, I also thought Atletico Madrid would be able to beat Real Sociedad. It was truly unexpected, even going to a penalty shootout. However, finals are indeed different because every team that advances to the final always works harder. Ultimately, sometimes even teams considered mediocre can play well and even beat teams considered strong.

Yes, Atletico Madrid now only needs to focus on the Champions League because that's the only place they have the potential to win a trophy this season. The Champions League is certainly a tougher challenge than the Copa del Rey and La Liga because the teams in the Champions League are strong teams. However, with the squad Atletico Madrid has, there's still a chance for Atletico Madrid to win the UCL trophy. Atletico Madrid will next face Elche and Bilbao in La Liga.
