This is getting rampant. I have heard a few people complain about getting hacked after trying out some obscure wallets, downloaded and installed from Google playstore. I think newbies and even experienced crypto enthusiasts need to be careful with  how they download new wallet apps. Many of them are just created to steal your details once you enter them

Open source wallets are the best but i am fine with non open source wallets that are still fine like jaxx or copay, getting your recovery seed or private key should be the first thing to check out on any wallet and it is more safer to go with old wallets that are available for some time now

The truth is, scammers will always look for ways to defraud gullible investors and they don't sleep till they achieve their aim. Another truth is, most wallets on playstore are not to be trusted, even if one needs to download a new wallet, I think it's wise to check the project's website to see if there is any recommended wallet or asking the team of the project in question to see their recommendations. We have to take responsibility of the safety of our funds and the best way to get started is by being wise. Furthermore, am glad trust wallet, engin etc are now supporting many coins, we should always check them to see if our desired coins are supported.

In the first place, why we look for another/new one in which we already have the (most) reputable one. It is our self to blame when we suffer from losing our private keys and not by using those new wallets. If we are doubt of its credibility, it is better not to try them, in fact, there is no one forcing us to try those. I am using Electrum wallet for my BTC  and I'll be using this until there is no change in its security. This is all we need "security assurance".

Yes you are right mate , many new cryptocurrency wallets have appeared in playstore and i do not think it safe to use them since they are new and not totally popular. As i learned about cryptocurrencies i always use only one wallet that is trusted and secured that until now i never change it. Myetherwallet is one of the secured cryptowallet that i know and i used.

For point number 2, i have a very bad experience with android wallet, so i am just use web wallet. Beside of that, i am always in front of my laptops everyday. Maybe phone only for chatting or contact my friends. About wallet, i only use which already have reputation. Like Blockchain for BTC and another coins, and Myetherwallet for Ethereum tokens, or maybe waveswallet for waves tokens.

1. most new wallets are still under development, more BUGs and nothing is truly perfect or safe. unless they already have an official certificate for the project.

You must do your own research at first before you trust any online wallet because you're right, its too risky if you put money on that. I still suggest to have your own hard wallet for your future holdings and if you want a more secure wallet go for the top exchange which can give you good security. Yes, we should always very carefully with the wallets because we don't know exactly when those wallets will get hacked. So we should always manage our assets into our wallet instead of choosing the new wallets. There are many old wallets that have more security compared to a new one.

Keeping funds on an exchange wallet also depends on the credibility of the exchange. Some exchanges like Binance and Kucoin have good reputation when it comes to security. New exchanges like Bitrue also secured each user's wallet with a 1 million dollar fund just in case assets are lost via any means. With such exchanges, a trader can keep funds there. However, after trading, it is always good to withdraw the funds to their original wallets where the user have full access and control over the private keys, seed phrase and other essential login details of the wallet.

Even if you have older crypto wallets but you dont hold the private keys your unsafe. It is better to stick using wallets that you have full control such as private keys or passphrase better if you have hardware wallets for plus protection.

On play store, you cannot just blindly download anything there. especially those wallets that are just like a clone of the older wallet.
Who knows if they are scheming for something? there are so many cases with the Apps on play store where they can access the data of the user without them knowing it.

In worse cases, you might end up losing everything we have if they stole all of our necessary information.

Definitely not the safest, there is hardware wallet that is far more safer tha MEW or metamask. While MEW and metamask is indeed a legit wallet and trustwrothy all the securities still in the hand of users meaning that they only giving you facilities and the rest of the thing will be up to you and that include security.

These wallet are different from Mew, jaxx, and other wallets that support main coins and erc20 tokens. I think youre right, why try youre luck with this, if you already have good wallets such as Trustwallet, enjin wallet, coinomi and other types of supporting wallet. Many wallets can be also a source of scam activity so be careful on the one youre using.

Purchasing a hardware wallet is not really a feasible solution if you got a limited money otherwise it's still worth it but it seems that people will never stop putting their money in the exchange for a long time because they think this is the most convenient way to save the money while in reality it's the best way to lose your money when the security breach happens.

The same wallet I use ever since is a ledger wallet and it did not break my trust in this wallet. As mentioned above, it is true there are many wallets appeared with the same aims the same function. Whenever there is something new in the market it is good that you examine for a short and proceed further. This too gets failed at times, because these days things looks more legitimate and impossible to find whether they are trying to scam the users.

One such happened for me, and till the last day never found it a trap. Everyone could've heard about bit.ac wallet. It ran signature campaign got the trust from the users. Later the wallet used to go offline for maintenance. This happened several times and one day it went offline for maintenance as the past. Everyone were waiting with patience for weeks. Finally everyone understood it as a trap. Around 10k people including me downloaded and used the wallet.

Using a wallet that you can keep your full control is much better than trusting exchange that in anyhow can be hack, especially when you have a huge amount of assets, you need to invest with hardware wallets where you can save your assets. You need to be more furious in terms of saving your money there's a lot of hackers they can phish you up and empty your funds.

At first place, Why are we should trust in new wallets? I keep securing my funds and that's why I only keep it in a safe storage. There are new wallets nowadays that telling they have good security system but I do not trust it.

Hardware wallet is still the most preferable wallet that we should use in order to protect our coins. There are a lot of online wallets that been hacked by hackers, in hardware wallet we can assure that we are the only who have access to our coins.

I know what you mean, at this day of time there are many wallets arise on the android playstore, for me there is only one apps that I trusted so much and that is Trustwallet, more than this apps nothing else. Because its too risky, especially if the walletis new in fact, very suspicious to me if the apps is also asking for private key.

Only fools will trust their funds to the new wallet without thinking twice but if there are new wallets that has huge number of users then you can consider using it by going first to the wallet.

Explore everything first before trusting them your money. Like read their terms, check their wallet securities, feedback's from users and etc. If you are contented with the results then you can deposit few bucks and use it first for few months before depositing big amounts.

It's better to go for wallet that has been proved their existence, besides I prefer the most popular because they won't do anything that can harm their image and that is a big loss. There are many new ICO which offers crypto wallets and their own crypto coins. They will ask you to download their wallet and later when you find that you can transfer your bitcoins into it, you transfer your coins there and those project onwers can anytime scam you.
This is very important that you do not transfer your funds to any new wallet, no matter how much you are convinced by your friends or anyone.

Indeed, it is difficult to trust them your money especially that there are a lot scams and hackers nowadays. I have personally my doubts in many online wallets with very few of them I could only trust my money. Cold or offline wallets are much better if you ask me. Actually its true, If users have to import their keys in order to load their wallets from MEW check first if the new app is trusted you dont wanna know youre wallet is already been save by them and will open and rob all tokens you have. It’s wrong if you download your wallet from play store and you are getting it from any public app because most of them comes from local people. I trust and use only block chain to store my coins. My preference was still for metamask because its still the safest one based on the experience I had. More new wallets had been promoting that they're safe, but it was failure in the long run. Why do you keep your funds only in online wallets, I understand those kind of wallets can be very practical because you have your money with you as long as you have an Internet connection and that is a very attractive advantage over many other wallets, but the risk is you don't really know if the owners behind those websites do not have a copy of your wallet and could steal from you, and if that was not enough if you mistakenly go to the wrong website then hackers can steal all your funds from you.

However, there are some wallets that are also gaining some momentum say Atomic Wallet, and Coinomi. These wallets may seem unpopular and new especially to newbies. With some new wallets even when we have the paper wallet it will be useless when the wallets just take away the funds and runs away. I just trusted it to the local exchanger in my country, which I had used for 3 years. indeed we must be very careful and always on the lookout for new wallets. what i worry about the new wallet is because some of them in google store might contain some malware or maybe that apps are phishing apps to get user information data, because some of the new wallets need to do KYC befor starting to use that wallet.

Agree, the most important principle in storing coins is that we control the private key or seed words. Even though the exchanger has good security, it would be wise if we don't keep the coin exchanger wallet unless the purpose is to trade

Atomic wallet has huge success in last year, which means this wallet is very new than any others wallet. Already this wallet is holding enough success either you trust this wallet or untrust. Unfortunately this wallet had a scam app in play store before legit app listed. This isn't right that new wallet can't trust after success. Once you have seen that there is something wrong into the new wallet you wish to try, better back off and do not put any amount of your assets into it because added by the fact that it is new, we can never tell what will happen into your funds once you put some into. Even if they look attractive and promising due to the features it have, still it will be best to check it out first by exploring the whole wallet and taking background information about it through thorough research to answer your inquiry. Phishing is normal thing in crypto , many new holders fall victims to these attempts. Mainly it is done through social media groups or mail where they promise to deposit fund to your wallet or through alert message that your account is going to be closed. Awareness of these thing is really necessary now as crypto is adopted by general public as well which have close to zero knowledge of how wallets work.

I have nothing against new wallets but its better not to trust easily and stick to wallets that already well established and proven by other holders as safe to use.
