hi notblox1, thanks for trying out the beta!

User sees that message (Could not connect to the internet.) when there is no connection to the internet. Usually when desktop/laptop is coming out of sleep mode and still reconnecting to the internet. As soon as internet connection is established (a few seconds for most people) the message will change to "Reconnect" and then, a few seconds later, the website will function as normal.

To summarize - this message is not a problem with exbet.io, it is because the user has no internet connection temporarily.

We hope that helps.

What do you mean I don't have internet connection?!
If I can write here and open all other websites than my internet connection is working.

As I don't have issue with any other sites, it is no problem on my side.

I got info to proceed to beta and then again I only see same 'no connection info'

OK, this is the first time we have seen this message appearing when internet connection is good (as you say yours is). If you can see the beta intro page (which you post above), then we are not sure why you are seeing the reconnect message. We have checked and there are no connection issues with beta.exbet.io - it is running fine. We will ask our QA team to look at this tomorrow.

Thank you for the report! This is exactly why running a beta is so useful.

Yeh, it works fine for me.

I only see the no connection message when my laptop reconnects. Thought it was good UX fwiw, letting user know what was happening. Website works for me now too... You people gotta get some  proper market makers on before launch tho lol

Very cool to see so many people taking a look since we opened up beta to everyone over the weekend.

This week we have NBA preseason matches, Euro 2020 Qualifiers, topped off with another weekend of NFL. OK, it's play money only, but you are getting in on the ground floor of THE Bitcoin Betting Exchange!

A reminder:

- Beta open now at beta.exbet.io

- Full launch later in 2019

The loading of your beta page is slow at the moment. Might improve later on.
Hopefully, this betting platform will really give better odds than most sportsbooks out there.
And if you can run promotional campaigns once you launch this platform, it might help in attracting players.
You can be competitive in this game if you are offering better services also. Good luck!

...
Well, I hope you can get your platform on Mobile Phones too, I tried to use it on my phone but sadly it doesn't allow me to, so I did just use my laptop just to check the Beta. Haven't gone too many clicks but I did see a lot of couple interesting features.

Thanks for checking it out TimeTeller, we will take a look at the loading issue you mention.
Good idea on the promotional campaigns - we're trying to work out the best way of doing that before launch.
All the best!

We extended the beta offering a little into Politics for the beta...

There's a Trump to be Impeached by end of 2020 market up here:
https://staging.everett.exbet.io/bettingmarketgroup/1.24.4788

There's a fair bit of action already on this market... We reckon the antics of the Tweeter-in-Chief make for good betting material, if nothing else  Grin

It's only play money, only up for another week or so, but later in 2019... IT ALL GETS REAL

hi dark08

Lol, yes... Impeachment before 2019 is probably more interesting.. we'll make sure to get that one right when we go live.

Thanks also for the feedback. Loading home page is a little slow on beta, we will be taking a look at that.

Loving the clean look of the site, uncluttered and user friendly!

Seems to have stole all the best features off the betfair interface and got rid of all their screen fluff!

Win win!

Anyone come across any major issues in the beta so far?

Have suggested adding or losing a click here or there but the it's remarkably polished for a beta!

I'd like to see the inplay timing reduced if we're using real money tho?

The site is simple and straightforward.
One thing I noticed, they only have btctalk and twitter as their social media channels.
The team might want to add telegram also for additional channel where players can reach them for any inquiries.
Also, I guess online chat support will be added in the full launch?

Thanks for taking a look at the beta, Josjac.

We tried to keep the UI clean and simple, great to hear that worked for you!

We agree that the bet placement process could be streamlined in various places.

The bet placing times will be considerably sharper at launch. Decreasing in-play timer is more of a business decision - what is the best time period to protect users adequately? We try to fall in line with best practice on other exchanges, but always open to feedback.

We're trying to understand the best way to handle customer support at launch. Telegram is a good call, or some kind of chat widget on the website. We want to have something which meets customer needs but which we can also commit to maintaining at a high quality and standard at launch. Telegram has the benefit of allowing community support to supplement our own support efforts, where appropriate.

Thanks for feedback!

I'm curious: How are you planning on getting market makers? Or are you just hoping for individual bettors to create offers and hope for others to take them? I know Fairlay really struggled to get market makers, with a lower commission (0.4%). Right now they're pretty much Pinnacle (supposedly there's a partnership between the two) and a market maker who marginally undercuts Pinnacle for certain events. BetBTC (4% commission) used to be a exchange as well (now they are just a Pinnacle clone) and they also had poor liquidity issues. Assuming you don't have partnerships planned, it might be worth considering a different commission scheme for maker and taker (0% and 1% perhaps) at least for the launch to get people to create more orders.

hi DarkStar_
Lots of good points and questions there.

An exchange lives or dies on its liquidity. A key part of bringing exbet.io to market has been working with market maker partners to bring that liquidity at launch or at a later date. What is clear to us is that commission is only one element in making an exchange attractive to market makers. Being a market maker is a business decision, and so costs (commission) are important, but also a range of other considerations - tech stack, APIs, team behind the exchange, strategy & direction, product offering for recreational customers, and a whole range of other issues that feed into the value proposition for market makers. We believe that we at exbet.io have a lot to offer in these other areas, and we continue to have excellent discussions with liquidity providers/market makers on all these issues.

But back to commission - our current thinking is that 1% commission is a clear, simple, competitive rate. We will always be open to reviewing commission structure if we believe it helps build liquidity and userbase.

On commission breaks for market makers - this is absolutely something that we are looking at on a case-by-case basis. We look to build partnerships with market makers which means finding a mutually beneficial way to work together, and commission rebates can be an important part of that.

Third parties interested in discussing market making on exbet.io - please get in touch and we'd be happy to share more details.

this this this this

commission is a small part of the equation. the exchange needs to offer a *future* for market makers, they work hard for their profits, they commit resources to getting on board with a new exchange, that ain't gonna happen if the exchange looks like it's been built by a kid in his pants at home. professionalism attracts professionals. these guys look like they have a shot, I poked around the beta and it was decent. they will have an API, they are doing mobile etc etc. They seem to understand the business. It's a long uphill struggle to attract liquidity butv I'll be watching with interest.

hi DarkStar_
Lots of good points and questions there.

Thanks for the response! Looking forward to seeing the site launch properly soon, hopefully you can find some market makers that at least match Pinnacle lines.

Just made an account to test things out. My biggest concern right now: Are you storing passwords properly? I'm limited to 12 character passwords for whatever reason (my default is at least 16 randomly generated characters or a randomly generated passphrase) which seems really dumb as if you are properly hashing and salting passwords, it shouldn't matter how long my password is as the hash length ends up the same for database storage. Please don't tell me you're storing in plaintext, even if it is a beta.

You're welcome, it was fun to discuss business mechanics of an exchange - we're always ready for that.

We are not storing passwords in plaintext.

Limiting to 12 character passwords for the beta is something that we already reviewed internally since beta launch. It was an oversight that will be corrected before full launch. But thank you for pointing this out. Really happy to have you looking at the beta product - any other feedback is very much appreciated.
