I know this is an MMA thread, but if you are a fight fan, take a look at the last Glory kickboxing event. The Plazibat/Khababez, Pereira/Vakhitov, and Hari/Wrzosek. Boy those were some classic kickboxing bangers. Like we were back in the 90s.
I don't follow kickboxing or boxing so much, except if some ex mma fighters are involved or heavyweight boxer fight with Tyson Fury.
ONE championship is sometimes mixing their cards with kickboxing or muay thai that is better version of kickboxing in my opinion.

ONE has a good and a bad model of operating. On one hand, they offer diversity with styles and keep fight cards exciting, switching between their version of MT and MMA, however, when it comes to a casual, that tends to get a bit confusing and you are not sure what you are watching, for what they are fighting, so on so forth. Interesting concept though.

They have one more advantage in ONE championship compared with UFC, Bellator and other organizations, there is no typical weight cutting and everyone fights at their real weight.
They are measuring only water in your body so you must be hydrated correctly, and not lose weight with dehydration like bodybuilders and other mma fighters that collapse sometimes.
Most of weight cutting is something like cheating anyway, we see some fighters gain so much weight after weight-ins and they look huge after that.

Their cutting policy combined with their gloves is something more organizations should implement. Why they don't is a mystery. You get 10kg differences between weigh-ins and actually fight weight in other organizations, it's just a stupid rule that needs to evolve in what ONE has, it's not '97 anymore.

The OneFC has a much better weight cutting system and i still expect UFC and another organization will adopt them. From what i remember the OneFC checks the weight of the fighters in check well before the weigh ins as they should be around that weight limit even during off season and the weigh cut some of the fighters go through in the UFC is brutal.

Using dehydration as a form of weight cutting can cause some serious problems. We have seen fighters facing lots of health issues because of this weight-cutting method. And when the human body doesn't get enough water it collapses. That's why we see some fighters collapse during weight cutting. And trust me I still don't know how they take their shorts off and meet the weight they need to make. Not like the shots are about kilograms in weight.

Ah, the shorts thing is a slight difference, but if you just miss that slight difference you are fucked, so they just don't want to risk it. Some of them would shave their heads, take their teeth out, and skin if they could shave off some pounds. The whole process is hard, I had a friend do it for a fight (bath tub cutting) and had to have another friend carry him from it as he couldn't walk.

Well, I see where you are coming from. Losing weight very short period of time and gaining them back again is very harsh on the body and has bad consequences. I'm impressed by the method used by OneFC. I did not know about it before. This method seems fairer to me compared to the one UFC uses. Hope this gets implemented all over the fighting scene.

The majority of the fighters cut weight to 155 pound division as the divsion above them is 170 pounds and it is a huge gap between weight division and some of the fighters does not fit in the 170 pound and another is 185 pound.

Either they need to add another division between weight classes, after 155 pound division they should add 165 pound and the Welterweight should be 175 pound and if that happens then we might not see these huge weight cutting issues.

For example, Rafael dos Anjos is not a natural 170 pound fighter, since he does not want to stress him body to cut down at 155 pound he is forced to fight at 170 pounds and there are many examples we can cite.

Sure, ok, more divisions could solve the problem, but I believe that the whole experience will become watered down and the champions will become more meaningless as no one will be able to remember nor care for so many names. So I still think that fight days might be a better option.

Only heavyweight in UFC don't have to care about their weight and they can eat and drink whatever they want before fight, just look at that fat beast Derrick Lewis  Cheesy

Bellator is back this weekend with big fight Bellator 266 Davis vs Romero!
We can finally see Yoel Romero debut in Bellator after coming from two loses in UFC and two canceled fights in Bellator.
Romero is much older and slower than Davis who has 5.5 inch advantage in this fight, and this fight might be more interesting than main event in UFC.

Dana White's Contender Series Week 3 is potential for fighters to sign new contract with UFC, and this time we have very interesting six figths.
First thing that I saw is heavyweight fight Brzeski vs Potter, with one more Polish fighter coming from Babilon MMA with 8-1-1 MMA record.
He is big favorite to win this fight and we always need interesting new fighters in UFC heavyweight category.
We have two Russian vs Brazil fights, Nasrudin Nasrudinov vs Jailton Almeida and Albert Duraev vs Caio Bittencourt.
Nasrudinov have perfect 9-0 MMA record in Light Heavyweight category, but I am not making any bets this time.

Once upon a time, Mark Hunt had to cut weight to get to the HW upper limit. Yup, you hear me right, he was to heavy for HW XD

And regarding Bellator, wow Mr. Wonderfull vs Romero. Don't know why, but this match-up seems legitimately exciting. The craziest thing is that Davis has had a solid record in Bellator, only losing to Bader and Nemkov. I am leaning towards him for this one.

Odds are slightly in favor of Davis, and I think that Romero gain some weight for this fight, but he has amazing record of KO wins, so anything can happen in first round.
If Davis somehow survives first round he should be able to win with good tactics, but I just hope to see amazing fight and I am skipping UFC for Bellator this weekend.
Romero is better striker, Davis is better in takedowns and he will be bigger guy in this fight and like I said he has reach advantage in this fight.
Romero gave short interview few days ago before this fight:

Most of the huge Heavy weight fighters cut weight to reach 265 pound limit, i remember Greg Hardy missing the weight limit recently and i am certain Francis Ngannou cuts down to reach that limit than his walk around weight and so does Derrick Lewis.

Yoel Romero and Phil Davis are decorated wrestlers and i am not sure which way the fight will go as Phil Davis prefers a wrestling approach but it will not be easy to wrestle someone like Yoel Romero who is a world class wrestler but never uses that in MMA unless is challenged and he is tough to beat even at this age. I lean towards Yoel Romero than Phil Davis in this match up because Romero has the power to stop anyone.

Week 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series is finished and some fighters impressed me with their performance, one of them is Jailton Almeida in Light heavyweight who submitted Nasrudinov in second round.
Polish fighter Lukasz Brzeski won a UFC contract after win against Dylan Potter and we have new fighter in Heavyweight category.
Total of five more fighters were awarded UFC contracts after DWCS week 3, including Duraev, Jasudivicius and Della Maddalena.

Romero looks yuuuge in that poster.  Let’s see how he looks in the cage at LHW when he’s letting himself go with the munchies by not having weight cut.  Cheesy  I think we’ll prolly see more from him than we’ve seen in the UFC.  He seemed gassy in the UFC cos of the weight cuts.

Edit:  This is a three round main event.

I don't remember if he ever had any fight in light-heavyweight category before, but I expect him to move slower than before.
Remember what happened with Adesanya when he tried to move from middleweight to light-heavyweight, it can be only worse for Romero but let's see.
He looks good in latest interviews and he said that age is just a number, maybe because he is 44 years now.

This is a three round main event.
Oh right, I didn't notice that before and I guess that plays in Romero favor.
I didn't watch Phil Davis before but I see that he was in UFC from 2010 to 2015 and he is good in wrestling.

He will for sure move slower. After all, he is getting older even if it seems like he is defying aging conventions XD He is such an enigma, but LHW might be too much for him. I am really surprised he has not hung up the gloves. I mean he seems to be doing fine, health vise, but still, how much punishment can the body endure.

Yoel Romero is having a really huge frame and no one could understand how he was able to cut down to 185 pound division and now he might be in his natural weight division without much weight cut that will make him stronger. Adesanya was not having a big frame and he is not a wrestler and once you face someone with a weight advantage on you it is difficult to get out of wrestling positions and that is how he was dominated.
