I think nowadays all the MMA fights are 3*5min or 5*5min with standard rules. Back in the beginning of 2000, and outside the US (first UFC events has sort of a 30 or 35min rounds), there were MMA tournaments, when fighters needed to win 3 fight during one evening to take the prize. Or in Japan there were MMA fights with rules, when no ground game is allowed in first round, and starting from second round you can fight what ever you want (I think if was made to make fights last longer and be more entertaining).

I think that must have been when I first started watching because I do somehow have a memory of those fights taking a lot of time and lasting much much longer. But I think the modern version is more fun, faster as a result and no protection on those who like to take the fights longer,,, though at the same time you do miss sitting down and watching a very long fight.

When I was a kid, I had a VHS cassette with MMA fight. I am not sure that it was exactly UFC fight, but I remember some skinny guy in kimono was trying to choke much bigger guy. Both of them were lying on the canvas. Big guy was lying on a skinny guy and trying to crush him, while skinny was in a weird position for choking, yet still trying to do it. Big guy had huge neck, skinny guy small hand and had not enough strength to put enough pressure on a neck They lied down like this for 15 or 20 minutes, doing little action. Sort of 2 men sleeping one on other in the ring In the end small guy managed to choke big guy.

That was hell of a boring fight. I would give "-10" points of entertainment on the scale of 0 to 10. If I was a spectator of this fight in the venue, I would have called for a refund. I am so glad MMA fight now have time limits and ref can give yellow cards for no action and put both fighter in stance fighting for no activity in parter.

Big news are coming for MMA in next months, PFL is preparing their big Europe debut in 2023, but warmups for this will be next month with two playoff events.
First qualifier fights will be in Cardiff on August 13 and second in London on August 20.

For Bellator 283 that is coming next weekend Usman Nurmagomedov finally got strong opponent Chris Gonzalez like he asked.
Nurmagomedov has perfect 14-0 record and I am sure he can be in fight for the tile of Lighweight division in Bellator.
It's strange that Dana White didn't snatch him to UFC already.

Chris Gonzalez is a really strong opponent and will be a challenge in the feet as he finished his last opponent with strikes and has a background in wrestling and hence it will be an interesting fight. The reason Usman Nurmagomedov did not sign with the UFC is because he fights in 155 pound division and they have Islam Makhachev coming up the ranks in the 155 pound division and to avoid that clash they took the wise decision to join Bellator and hopefully later in his career once Islam Makhachev retires he will make his debut in the UFC.

Well, I am not really waiting for it, but there are many fans that are still curious in seeing what may happen in their fight, but for me, I could see which will dominate and that is not Tony Ferguson, even though Khabib Nurmagomenodov is early retired, and Tony Ferguson keeps on fighting, there is no chance for him to beat Khabib Nurmagomedov, in a wrestling match,

Many people are curious because 5 times canceled, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020. if fight happens this year I'm sure there will be many sponsors and if not happen in the near future, they will be too old to continue the showtime.

About Umar Nurmagomedov, I think he has potential and just like Khabib has said Umar Nurmagomedov has fast lightning kicks but if he mixed it with boxing it could be a perfect combination, and he is also well-balanced and well-rounded in his ground game aswell, I really like is kicks and just like Yair Rodriguez I think Umar Nurmagomedov can also do unusual kicks as Yair can do, but that is for him to be well rounded in some aspect,

Found this on Tapology. Invicta FC 48: Tennant vs. Rubin <- whole event consist of 7 women fights. 5 years ago I think this would be impossible. Years ago googling "women fighting" led to YouTube or porno, and now they have their own fighting event. I cant imagine who would be the spectators. Also women? Or men? If men, they must be real barbarians, because they like to see women brutally fighting... And they dont have to spend money on tickets, because they can just go home and tell their wives that their food sucks and be ready to fight

This looks like a great event and I think all MMA fans should watch the main card, there are some interesting fights in prelims, but main event is a bomb.
I spoke about Usman Nurmagomedov earlier and I think he will be the next Lighweight champion in Bellator, but he fist needs to defeat Chris Gonzalez and then Patricky Pitbull for championship belt.

To warm up for Bellator there is all female Invicta event tomorrow with six fights and main event Taneisha Tennant vs Olga Rubin in Bantamweight championship title fight.

I think you mixed something with PFL MMA, because Belaltor has regular events like UFC and they don't have any problem with sponsors and money.
Maybe they pay fighters more percentage than UFC and Dana White, that was reported by Cris Cyborg and other fighters that moved  from UFC to Bealltor.

Don't be too serious in your life since you're only watch men MMA, women MMA can make you interested if you're interested with a sexy chicks event and want to entertain yourself due to stressful job. I was knew UFC because of McGregor before and I keep following his fight until he doesn't in good shape now, there's some fighters that I'd love to watch since they have good skills, but right now I'm more prefer to watch women MMA due to full of surprise lol.

Regards of the fight between Tennant vs Rubin, Tennant should play on ground fight since Rubin is more a power puncher. Don't go distance against Rubin, she will know the right timing to taken down her opponent.

I sent you that wikipedia link with all Bellator events and I can't see any huge pauses in last few years.
Most of the times Bellator event is one day before UFC event and it has been like that for as long as this thread was created most of the times.
Bellator events are not boring at all, unless you dont like to watch mma and combat sports.

I cannot really say I have a lot of experience,,, but in my short time watching women in sports I can actually say that they seem to bear pain much better or rather,,, they make a less big deal out of it. And injuries as well. MMA of course in general they are really good and has less fakery and whining than say in football or tennis but I feel men/women no difference in combat sport. They are more flexible and can be faster, and helps us imagine better how we would fight (due to speed and size they look more normal than the men).

I haven't noticed this post because pretty much busy with the other threads but that are many fighting kittens that I feast my eyes on, Olga Rubin lost to Taneisha Tennant that has an amazing record, well Olga Rubins, looks beautiful with long her, but the impressive fight was the two lovely kittens Kristina Williams VS Liana Pirosin that end up in a Submission pretty much I will watch the fight again,

It is good that we have Bellator to back us up when UFC doesn't have any even on the weekend or if they are on Hiatus for 2 weeks, pretty much even though UFC is more popular than Bellator, the quality of fights in Bellator is non-other aswell, for MMA fights I totally recommend these 2 aswell, but still going back to One Championship to support my fellow Filipino fighters,

Pretty much Bellator doesn't have so much well-known roster as the UFC, so I think that is why you dub them as boring, but for me, there are a couple of fights in Bellator that I really like and have taken a list of fighters that are worth watching, and just like the UFC at 1st glance, I don't really know anything about them but when I tried to it more frequently I am now more familiar with most fighters I think you just need to watch more Bellator just to familiarize with certain fighters,

This is mostly due to cultural stigmas and how the brain is wired. Women are wired to take fewer risks than men and are culturally brought up to have an inclination towards non sport things as that is reserved for boys. An interesting thing is that there was/is a rise of women skateboarders in some Arab countries as skateboarding is considered a child's game and therefore girls that are forbidden to play ''boys sports'' take up skateboarding. So the reason we don't see / know many good players, fighters, racers what have you, is that women tend to make up a much smaller percentage of people doing sports. Not because they would not be any good at it.
