I believe they are false scans. Kevacoin source code is derived from Litecoin. Similar results (even a few more) have been detected from the latest Windows installer from their official website:

We built the Windows installer on Ubuntu using cross-compiler toolchain, to minimize any potential possibility that the Windows OS has been compromised. I.e. our Windows installer is built on a Windows-free environment.

Not sure if this is problem you encountered, Kevacoin's mainnet is not launched yet. For now, you have to pass the "-testnet" option to "kevacoin-qt.exe":

Yes, you can mine on the testnet. This can be useful to test solo-mining and your mining pool software.

For solo-mining, follow this guide:

If you want to start a mining pool, there is a reference implementation:

You can use any miners that support Cryptonight R (variant 4) hashing algorithm.

If you want to implement your own mining pool, it is easier to modify from an existing Crypotnight (e.g. Monero) mining pool software. Kevacoin is derived from Bitcoin/Litecoin, so it is not a privacy coin. But its mining interface has been modified so that it is compatible with Cryptonight stratum protocol and miners.

For the testnet, the address starts with "T". The prefix "V" is for the mainnet. It is not clear from the guide, sorry for the confusion.

Kevacoin uses the standard Cryptonight R (variant 4) hash algorithm. So anyone can use NiceHash to mine the coins for their benefit, just like any other PoW coins. We will let the coin economy play out

Thanks for the reminder. We will produce one soon. The mainnet will be launched on Thursday, Jan. 16, 03:00GMT. The genesis block will give 0.00001 Kevacoin (KVA) to the core developers (the standard block reward is 500KVA for the first 4 years)  

Kevacoin is unique in that a block can be part of the database storage. We need to find a way to present the key-value relationship in an intuitive and logical way.

Sorry to see that happened to you. This normally would happen when the pool detects there are a certain percentage of shares submitted by an IP address are invalid. If this happens, the pool will temporarily ban the IP address for 600 seconds. If the miners are configured incorrectly, they may send invalid shares to the pool and trigger this ban.

Maybe you can check that the miner is configured properly. If you start to see the pool rejecting the invalid shares, stop the miner right away and fix the miner config. In case of ban, please wait 600 seconds and the ban should be lifted.

Yes! The namespace display name "WWW" is for your own convenience and record, so that you know which namespace is for what purpose. When you call keva_namespace, it will always create a unique namespace id, which you should use in your subsequent Keva operations. This is to avoid name squatting, i.e. the popular names are quickly claimed by speculators without intention to actually use (e.g. in the case of Namecoin).

To show all your namespace, use the command "keva_list_namespaces". It will show the display names and their corresponding namespace ids. The unique namespace id always starts with "N".

We are experiencing a sudden increase of network hash rate. Kevacoin's difficulty retargeting algorithm seems to work as expected, as the average block time is still about 2 minutes (last time I checked).
In case of a sudden decrease of network hash rate, the retargeting algorithm shall adjust downward even faster, allowing other miners to catch up.

Thanks for the suggestions and I apologize for lack of communication on this important issue. The main reason is that we are still struggling with what is the best move for the next step. We originally plan to use our slightly tweaked version of Cryptnoght R (and call it Cryptonight KV). However, that would require us to submit patches to various miners (e.g. XMRig, XMR-stak, T-rex, etc.). Since CN/R is a GPU/CPU algorithm, we need to implement support AMD, NVIDIA and CPU. It is quite a lot of work and uncertainty (not sure if the miners would accept our patches and they are moving to CPU-only RandomX). Then Kevacoin source code will need lots of changes. Unlike Monero source code, which is designed with hard-forks in mind, the Keva source code does not have support for hard-fork and we need to implement and test it. This is lot of work and testing. Honestly, we are secretly hoping that Nicehash's support for CN/R will go away, just like other older CN algorithms. We had a glimmer of hope this morning as the available hash rate of CN/R dropped to 1MHz (from 6 MHz) on the US market for a while.

However, we do agree that the CPU only is the future, and it fits our targeted developer demography, as these people normally have machines with powerful CPUs but only average GPUs. The recent development of AMD multi-core CPUs also makes CPU mining very promising. Our concern is that some of our early supporters are GPU miners and we don't want to disappoint them. But it is a fact that CPU mining is good for the long term for Kevacoin.

We will have a vote on the switch as suggested. Comments and suggestions are welcomed!

We had a glimmer of hope this morning as the available hash rate of CN/R dropped to 1MHz (from 6 MHz) on the US market for a while.

However, we do agree that the CPU only is the future, and it fits our targeted developer demography, as these people normally have machines with powerful CPUs but only average GPUs. The recent development of AMD multi-core CPUs also makes CPU mining very promising. Our concern is that some of our early supporters are GPU miners and we don't want to disappoint them. But it is a fact that CPU mining is good for the long term for Kevacoin.

We will have a vote on the switch as suggested. Comments and suggestions are welcomed!

One thing that you can do, to not disappoint the early GPU miners is to premine the existing coins on the new blockchain and swap them for old coins so they won't loose the coins mined. Then  they can continue to mine Keva like other if they want to stick to the project. This is how I would do it, as I think you can't simply switch to new mining algo, but rather launch a new blockchain.

Right, port 3333 is for low-end hardware with the initial difficulty of 8000. The mining pool will adjust the difficulty according to the actual hashrate of your hardware. It will increase the difficulty if the hardware has higher hashrate, while it will decrease the difficulty if it has lower actual hashrate.

Keva uses a variant of RandomX called RandomKeva. It is about 5 - 10% faster than RandomX due to its use of smaller scratchpad.

Keva and IPFS on Mobile Devices

You can write your blogs in plain text or HTML, and you can insert pictures and videos. However, the pictures and the videos must be hosted on a server somewhere, and you have to insert the HTTP links. It is not an ideal decentralized solution and we are working on a solution that will allow you to upload your pictures and videos to IPFS from your mobile device. Integrating IPFS in a mobile app is an interesting challenge. The major problem is that mobile apps cannot have constant network connection (otherwise the battery will quickly drain), and reliable network connection (WIFI vs cellular data). Because of this, after you upload an image or video to IPFS, other people may not be able to access the file if your mobile app is not connected to the internet. Running an IPFS peer on a mobile device will also have performance issues. An IPFS peer opens many connections to other peers and requires large network bandwidth and CPU cycles, which may not be suitable for a mobile device.

1. The keva_put command has a new option to transfer the namespace to an address:

During this release, we also ran static analysis tools on the source code and fixed the found issues and warnings.

It is really fun working on the enterprise application with Keva blockchain as database. In the enterprise application, application servers are "cattle", while database is "pet". Some updates on what we are working on. We continued working on the public sector project. It becomes very clear that we need a Javascript library to easily access the Keva blockchain and database. We took the suggestion of @DukeFerdinand and started a new Javascript library to do exactly that. You can find the library here: https://github.com/kevacoin-project/keva-api-js

This new library is immediately helpful to the public sector project. We are now able to hook up the front-end with the Keva blockchain. What is remaining is to add the feature of updating Keva data through scanning the QR code on the web page.

We enhanced the ElectrumX server so that it indexes all the key-value pairs. This allows the new Javascript library to quickly retrieve the value given the key and the namespace Id (similar to Kevacoin Core’s keva_get method). If you are running an ElectrumX server, it is strongly recommended you get this latest update. Database re-sync is required as we are adding new indexes.

This is a good idea! We have been thinking about this since the beginning. It will work like decentralized content curator which everyone can be. It is like blockchain content portal, or similar to domain registrar, mapping the namespace ID to a human readable string.

On the other hand, we have another working solution, each long namespace ID has a unique short code. For example, our official account short code is 32101. Enter the short code in the mobile app and it will show the content.

As we are approaching the end of 2021, we would like to thank you for your support of the Kevacoin project. We are grateful for your contribution in all aspects of the project, including but not limited to bug reports and fixes, application developments, promotion, mining, mining pools.

We started to see quite a few interesting usages of Kevacoin. As for us, we made significant improvements to the iOS and Android mobile app. Everyone can access the Kevacoin blockchain from their phones, reading and writing messages, creating and selling NFTs!

We took the second half of 2021 contemplating what is next for Kevacoin. The activation of Bitcoin Taproot soft-fork presents a very important opportunity for Kevacoin. The Taproot soft-fork introduces the Schnorr signature in Bitcoin transactions. Schnorr signature provides better support for smart contracts, privacy and flexibility. When used in our innovative on-chain database, it will make the database operations smaller, faster and with better privacy.

Kevacoin project is a fork of Litecoin source code. However, the Litecoin source code is diverging from Bitcoin source code, and is behind in some important features, especially the support of Taproot. In order to take full advantage of the advancement of Bitcoin, we decided to fork from Bitcoin source code and re-implement Kevacoin on top of it. We will make our on-chain database a modular component to make it easy to keep up-to-date with Bitcoin’s improvement, and potentially reduce the attack surface and improve the security, performance and stability of Kevacoin.

It is important to note that this new implementation is fully compatible with the current implementation, and has no impact on your Kevacoin holdings. The activation of Schnorr signature is a soft-fork, which requires the support of miners and mining pools. We will communicate with the community to keep everyone up-to-date to our progress.

Another interesting research project we want to start in 2022 is a fully decentralized, high capacity, off-chain database built on the foundation of Kevacoin blockchain database. It is conceptually similar to IPFS, with the major difference that we are envisioning a federation of databases, while IPFS is for static files. This new decentralized database, once it is available, could make web3 applications much more close to reality.

So who is maintain the domain?

Asking because there is just one dnsseed.kevacoin.org available in wallet core and new connections depending of that (to init the blockchain loading)

For the Kevacoin.org domain, it would be the OG Kevacoin dev Calmstorm I believe. The best shot to get in contact would probably be through the security@kevacoin.org email. If that does not work PM me here or on Discord and I can probably help some more

Thanks for info, I'm asking because only one DNS seed defined in kevacoin core, and with this domain down new users will no longer able to connect the network.

Would be good to have at least one more seed server.. but no ideas how to contribute when PRs not maintained anymore

I have launched KevaCoin peer in Yggdrasil network , if somebody wish to connect DHT securely or when DNS seed will not available for some reasons:

After some experience with KevaCoin project, thoughts to make or just request the fork of this project, with following changes:

• higher mining difficulty or lower block rewards to prevent blockchain abuses like we have at this moment
• increase values size to about 1Mb as current size not enough to store all that I want: e.g. some web pages for archive (currently this limit could be simple hacked with this tool that allows to store even video files)
• not sure but doubts to build blockchain on monero based blockchain where transactions more secure, this idea too raw but for the note.

most of critics I have described in issues, but seems it has no sense to wait for feedback there.

If the Kevacoin mobile wallet does not work for you, change your Electrum server connection to Kex.keva.one:50002 in the settings

Instructions:

Settings > Network > Electrum Settings

Enter Kex.keva.one in the top box

leave the middle box empty

Enter 50002 in the bottom box

Can somebody init the fork with larger value size? Because currently it's not useful - not small, not large. With 3072 bytes I can't even store any article there to use in the blog.
This limit not prevents storage abuse as I can send parts base64 encoded with clitoris tool, but prefer to have native text storage there

Also operations like DELETE / UPDATE do nothing just indicating some record was requested to delete, but not deleting it from blockchain.
Cleanup of these options would be nice idea.

After long time of inactivity, we have created community driven branch by kvazar-network.

It includes update for latest libboost API, new DNS seed (by @Toaurdethtdes) and some fixes for QT.

That is initial release that also includes binaries for linux:
