DISCLAIMER: I am the lead of the development team for the new altcoin, AppleBytes - coming in April.

We are currently focused on building the local user community, artists and art lovers in NYC.

Please take a look, we believe our focus on the user community first, will lead to long-term growth.
Additionally, we are the first altcoin to use crowd funding to fund development, so the Dev team is paid in Bitcoin, not premine.

More Details are here:

MazaCoin (MZC)

It's having a lot of difficulties with poor communication, but the lead developer is extremely dedicated. If it gets official, it's a first in cryptocurrency history (an admittedly short section of history).

MZC still has 176 TH mining it.

Keep an eye out for Zeit. POW/POS hybrid which is about to enter its POS phase. Strong community and active devs and a purpose other than "get rich quick." Zeit is a long term investment. About to go through its second block, and the price is still low. So now is the time to buy!

What about EMUCOIN : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494855.0

It is very cheap and it may come back!?

I have been buying 15 alt coins but I have changed my mind and sold most of them to buy LTC and Dogecoin

is this sarcasm? what on earth is special about goldcoin, supposed to be joking right?

It was one of the first coins to become resistant to 51% attack and to become multi-pool resistant. Its developer is considered one of the rising stars in the crypto industry and is currently working on a complete rewrite of the bitcoin code base. Plus the coin has a pretty cool name.

Peercoin.

The savings account of cryptos in a future of crypto ubiquity. (Gain's one percent interest through proof of stake minting).

PoS provides increased protection against 51% attacks.

Fixed transaction fee gets destroyed providing deflation to balance out the inflation from proof of stake.
So if too many people save for too long, PoS devalues the currency and incentivises people to spend.
If too many people spend the price goes up motivating people to save a little more, and an equilibrium is established.

Third largest crypto by marketcap (not counting ripple and auroracoin).

peercoin for big transactions, and primecoin for smaller transactions provides a dual environmentalist's crypto option. The big transactions can be handled mostly by stake in the future and the tiny transactions, which require PoW because they're all spammy, have an energymulti-use option (currently finding prime numbers).

Peercoin came out long before this recent trend of altcoin mania.

Most of the money that people keep in the legacy financial system is kept in savings accounts and bonds. Like 80 percent of it. If Peercoin grows to fulfill its role as a savings commodity then it has to potential to blow up much higher than bitcoin.

If any altcoin is to be taken seriously it's Peercoin.

I vote DGC. Been around quite awhile and Baritus is one of the most competent Devs on the scene, IMO.

I would also like to see XPM, as that provides some real use for the electricity spent.

Lets see, what other coins am I holding...  Wink

Digitalcoin (DGC) should be added to the list. They have a lot of projects coming out soon. Poker for DGC was just released. The transactions and block confirms are crazy quick. I sent some from my PC to my laptop and they showed up within 3 seconds.

Other than Litecoin, the ones I believe in are Doge, Digital, Myriad, and NXT.

But Digital has taken some hits with all the stuff going on with CryptoAve and the stolen wallet of Baritus.  It could be a big setback but we'll see.  It kinda depends on what you mean by "to take seriously".  I think Doge will be around and used, but I don't know if the value can ever go up too high.  Myriad is primed for a jump based on the goals of the coin (IMO).  Digital and NXT are two I'm closely watching.

I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to Goldcoin, Worldcoin, or Darkcoin.  The rest I really haven't been impressed with.  Especially the geographic coins.

Well, DigiByte isn't shit for certain. It's not super popular, but its developer made the DigiShield 2.0, used in other coins. And the community is nice, plus the price being stable (nevermind that recent turbulence caused by entering Craptsy).

Myriad and Darkcoin

Myriadcoin - the first multi-PoW blockchain! (Mine with SHA256 [ASICs], Scrypt [GPU/ASICs], Skein [GPUs], Groestl [GPUs], OR Qubit [CPUs/GPUs]).

DGC it is. Under the radar still until mega breakout. Best time to get in before we go back up to 30k+ satoshis. Happened before, will happen again with the amount of development put into the coin continuously for almost a year now.

No Premine
No Instamine
Fair Distribution (long-term mineable, no pump n' dump)
144 million coins (compared to LTC's 80 million coins)
Active Developing Team
Much Faster Than Litecoin: 40 second blocks
100% Track Record (no forks)
Great Community
Paper Wallets
Java Lightweight Client
Actual DGC Stores To Buy Goods and Services
CryptoAve DGC/USD Exchange Will Be Back Soon
Followed By Enabling Of Merchant Services
Newly Designed Digitalcoin.co Website In The Pipe
Awesome Name

And the list goes on.

Not to be taken seriously:

Litecoin

Are you kidding me, this coin was dying before all the hype of being added to Chinese exchanges.  What sort of real development has taken place in the last 2 years??? That's right, virtually nothing.

Only going down from here
