In 2017 ethereum made its ATH caused by the demand for the ico but this time ethereum has faced the different thing when the ico has already dead and ethereum must come with something new that can bring a huge demand again. I doubt if the new ATH can be reached this year and I feel if bitcoin can't even reached the new ATH this year too. We can see that if the bitcoin gets correction right now and the movement of ethereum pegged to the bitcoin. That's true if the majority of ico platforms pegged with ethereum but it doesn't mean if these platforms will bring a huge pressure to the price of ethereum.

It is not unbelievable if Ethereum can reach its ATH price again, but after looking at the Ethereum price chart this year it is not so significant and it is difficult to estimate whether it will rise high or not. but what makes me still believe in Ethereum, because I personally believe that one day Ethereum can reach the highest price again, and at least maybe Ethereum can reach the price of $ 300 - $ 400 at the end of this year.

It is a tough task to expect the price of Ethereum reaching an all time high valuation anytime soon, either they need to come up with something that could attract the investors but by the way in which they are going it is a hard ask to expect them to reach those high rally in the coming years. I am not investing in it anytime soon as i am not expecting this to move higher because the valuation is too small now to have a rally in the next one year.

I can only hope that the new all-time high everyone is speculating about is both obtainable and sustainable. I mean, reaching the all-time high isn't always the issue, one simple pnd can help us reach there. But sustaining it would be a greater feat even for Ethereum.

As for the pool of viable POS chains out there, the numbers continue to grow, and the competition is becoming more stiff. Except Ethereum comes up with an overwhelming incentive POS economics that undercuts all the current versions in the market. It's truly hard to see how the next upgrade can sustain the next price of ETH, alone.

to form a new highest price I think it will also be difficult, unless there is an innovation in the project, so that it attracts investors and traders into it. but it will likely always be there especially crypto is known to have high fluctuations

The ATH level of Ethereum was achieved almost 2 years back and then it was the ICO hype which propelled the currency to such a high valuation. But the ICO bubble burst after a few months and Ethereum came back to the previous levels. And I don't tjink that this cycle is going to repeat again. Based on the development release, we might have some higher expectation for ETH, at the beginning of this year already the price of ETH increased 50$ which seems to be very interesting. Once we see the development release definitely the price of ETH will skyrocket in this year.

The price went up due to pure speculation. There was no major news from the development team lately and there is still no clarity regarding the timelines for Ethereum 2.0. Also, the ICO sector is not showing any signs of life and seems to be inching towards its eventual demise. So it looks like the recent spike  may not last for too long.

Hoping for the best is the rightful thing to do now, and don't be too much aggressiveness on our eth asset to gain an abrupt change this month. It takes more time to fluctuate even more, in order to obtain a productive value. Furthermore, the signs of increase this month is a proof that eth contract still continues to provide more volumes on trading, so we need not to worry because erc20 still prevails it's worth.

I don't remove the fact that it can set new high this year but the chances of it are very low (like the chances of you winning to a lotto ).

Come to think of it, Ethereum price skyrocketed when the price of Bitcoin skyrocketed too so in order for Ethereum to reach a new ATH Bitcoin must reach a new ATH too. If BTC will not go beyond $20,000 then there will be new ATH for Ethereum. Anyway, anything is possible in the crypto market. Lets just see if what happens to this coin. I think you are right because etherum has done well in the past few days with its price rising up to 266$.
But still it somehow is under the radar, almost everyone is mentioning bitcoin surpassing 10,000$.

With their positive news that's coming into the network it will see another all time high again. Since the positive movement, ethereum has been one of the best altcoin that has a good move.
