BISQ announced earlier today that they're soon going to implement the lightning network[1]. Maybe Bitcoin Ordinals is what we needed to push services to adopt LN.

That would be pretty cool.  I know they have the intent to implement lightning functions in BisqV2, but I wasn't sure about Bisq1.  I don't think Bisq1 would work for lightning to fiat due to the multi-sig "escrow" function, but lightning to on-chain would still be nice.

I've been using Bisq 1.9.12 for the last month or so, and I love the new clone offer feature.  It allows a maker to create one offer, but clone it to use different payment methods.  For example, if I want to sell some bitcoin, but I don't care if I'm paid via Zelle or Strike, I can create one offer for Zelle, submit my maker fee and security deposit, and publish the offer.  Then I can clone the Zelle offer and change the payment method to Stirke, and I want to set a different margin for Strike payments, I do that as well.  If I use a trigger, I can different prices set for the cloned offer also.  I don't need to submit another maker fee or security deposit, both offers share the same fees and security deposit.  When a peer takes one of the cloned offers, both offers are removed from the market.

This will help makers by allowing them to use one offer (and one security deposit,) but advertise it in two or more markets.

Some other improvements made to V1.9.12:

Any idea

I wanted to open Bisq this morning. Since it was freezing the OS up to not be able to use the mouse cursor, I had no choice to "hard reboot"  Win10.

I restarded the OS so, then tried to relaunch Bisq and now it doesn't open.
Yet, if I check the task manager I see it running



I deleted Bisq, installed it again but it doesn't solve the problem.

Not much can be found on the web about such issue, but I have the same as below

I checked the bisq.properties and it already has the “bannedSeedNodes=”

Hmm, never had any issues like that myself, and I use Windows also.  

First things first: make sure to back up the "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Bisq\btc_mainnet" directory.  That's where all your critical information like payment accounts are stored.  Then uninstall bisq using the Control Panel > Programs and Features tool.  Then delete the whole directory where the bisq data lives, i.e. "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Bisq" and restart the machine.  When you reinstall bisq make sure to use the latest version, 1.9.12.  Older versions will no longer function since the latest upgrade.

After rebooting, then installing the new version, don't start bisq.  Copy the backup of the "btc_mainnet" directory back to it's original path, then start bisq.

Well, first of all you need to specify which OS you're intending to run Bisq on. Have a try and look at the source code. You should be able to compile it for your architecture.

In all other cases hopefully @layer1gfx will jump into this thread and provide some helpful information which may or may not lead to a satisfying solution.

There is no 32 bits version.
I remember it has been asked to the devs to build it, but with the lack of time (or something else) they prefered to not make it I think.

Bisq just released new beta version of Bisq2 exchange with lot of changes and improvements compared to well know old version.
They made Bisq2 from ground up with multiple trade protocols (Liquid, Multisig, Easy, Sumbarine Swaps, Lightning, Monero swaps...) and privacy is improved in new version.
Chat and support is now included in Bisq2, and multiple user profiles can be created in the same Bisq client with one Bisq node.

This is a huge upgrade, in my opinion.  Adding lightning functionality and submarine swaps will help maintain privacy also.  I plan to play around with it soon, learn the new features.  I'm looking forward to seeing it as the official release.

I agree, this is big change in positive direction fir Bisq, but we are going to have to wait a bit longer for submarine swaps and other protocols to be released.
Watch the video and you will see full Bisq2 roadmap, according to that I don't expect to see all protocols being integrated this year, but I could be wrong.
It's important to say that both Bisq1 and Bisq2 will still be active in the same time, until certain point when everyone will have to make a switch.

Please members, you might want to check out Bisq 2. It is way easier to load and set up unlike the previous version.

This is a real example of what a bitcoin decentralized p2p exchange should look like. The major problem is liquidity, but with more users using the platform, that will be history.

- It asked me to resync the SPV chain file and I did.
- I deleted the btc_mainnet/wallet/bisq.spvchain from the data directory
- I tried to not use Tor
- See the number of peers staying at 2

The software is open since 3/4 days...

I am also on version 1.9.17 and mine loads quite fast, in under 4 minutes. Bitcoin network peers at 5 and Bisq network peers at 9. Connection is via Tor, and I wasn't prompted to resync the SPV chain file. Could it be a problem with ISP?

Yeah, totally different software built from scratch and different newer features that weren't on Bisq 1. The migration process is on the road map, so some trading protocols like the Bisq mutisig protocol are not yet available on the new platform. They plan to migrate it from Bisq 1 to 2 somewhere in the 4th Quarter of this year.

One is also able to migrate their reputation from platform 1 to 2.

Right now they just have the Bisq Easy trading protocol which is easy for Beginners who are getting started with using Bisq as they continue to roll out other features.

By the way, as of now, you can install and run both applications on your PC as you explorer Bisq 2.

I'm not really sure what the problem here is. I would've been inclined to think it is Tor because that was the show-stopper for me last time, but you writing that you tried to use this without Tor changes things. Why don't you completely delete the datadir and see what happens? (I hope you have your seed backed up before this). I know from your post that this can't be the first time you are running Bisq on this system, so was it working before the update?

I think they said that Skrill has too lose chargeback policy for them, so they don't want to risk adding it, similar like with paypal.
There is alternative option called PeachBitcoin app that has available both Skrill. Paypal, Revolut and many other payment options, but there are some daily limitations for trading.
Note that this option is only available in Europe (last time I checked).

I wouldn't expect Skrill to be implemented.  I've never used it, but from what I've heard it's not any better than PayPal from the seller's security perspective.  Charge-backs are too easy and not only is bitcoin is not their priority, it's their nemesis.  Also, I don't know what part of the world you're in, but in the US the use of Skrill is next to nonexistent.
