Right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction?

As we all know , Coronavirus has impacted each and every industry in the whole world and sports isn't an exception .

But the question is , is this the right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction? The assumption I am making here is  that the gambling addicts are addicts on sports betting and not casino game addiction or poker .

Why this question is because although I wanna bet on sports ( which I have been doing every week since 8 years ) now I cannot .

Perhaps, it is the right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction, and they can leave gambling for a while or forever because many sports games have been canceled because of the virus. But we still have online gambling games to play so you can change the games with the other gambling games, and perhaps, you can find another excitement with other gambling games.

You can choose for yourself whether you want to leave gambling games or you want to try other gambling games. But the point is you should know about the dangers of addicting to gambling. You have an option to reduce the addiction by taking a break from the sports betting for a while. We don't know when the sports will continue the event because the government is still trying to search for people who got infected by the virus.

My take on this is that the fact you have been betting on sports every week for 8 years now doesn't make you an addict, If truly you're addicted to gambling I'm sure you'd find something else to gamble on.

If per chance you're addicted to gambling but only on sporting events, just because there are not enough sports to bet on for now isn't going to help you stop your addiction, the addiction can only be stopped when there are enough sporting events for you to bet on but you decide not to.

Stoping an addiction is more about the will power and having the right mindest which can be acquired from various means such group meeting, seeing a psychologist e.t.c because sooner or later sporting events will continue, and without those characteristics you'd just be starting back from where you stopped.

It's like a 2-3 month delay. I doubt that would be enough to remove their addiction. There's also the factor of that they could switch over to poker/slots/dice/etc. gambling temporarily, while sports gambling is currently out. Additionally, I suppose sports gambling addicts are quite used to waiting since the seasons are done with a time gap of a few months between each other, and tbh, they could honestly use this time to research more about the teams that are playing and naturally increase the odds of them winning through it. It's honestly a good thing sometimes, an addiction that is, but exceeding a certain point of that addiction can be quite dangerous.

Oh that is right but I wasn't referring to myself , I don't have the problem of addiction . As you mentioned , I have been betting for hell lot time but I can live months together without betting ( I was just giving an example in OP ) .

Yeah i have also read that thread in which day by day the events and tournaments had been canceled or paused

Well yeah they will stop gambling in sports betting but they will surely go across other games since it is the gambling is what they want and not just the sportsbet.

Well I am not such a big fan of dice ( although I invest in the house lol ) . I do like poker and I play it with my friends but not for huge money or anything , just to have fun . What you said , about not betting and being an example sounds really good I will try it out and update here .

This is a low-key opportunity for gambling addicts to get themselves used to not gambling. Both sports betting and casinos are affected by the virus since games are postponed and it's not good to go to crowded places like casinos although you can still play online gambling like online casinos and e-sport betting.

Since I'm not a gambling addict, I find it unnecessary to think about gambling in times like this. Instead of using my money in gambling, I will just use it to buy important things like foods and other necessities since some people are panic buying or I will just use it to make more investment in other altcoins. But the good thing about this is that we have no choice but to follow the authority's order for our safety. If you really want to gamble since staying at home can cause boredom, there's online gambling as our option.

Probably this kind of event might give them second thoughts on whether to come out of their gambling addiction because no more major sports are going to continue because of the corona epidemic. Even going to physical casino has a big risk as well.

This is true but it's the opposite for some as i've seen people on the sportsbook subreddit slowly branching out on other games to bet on like esports.

Yup that is the issue but most of the sports betters don't seem to like other forms of gambling , I suppose.

It's mostly because those games heavily rely on luck. I also prefer sports but it doesn't hurt to play other games once in a while since you'll get that feeling of wanting to try out something new or you used to play back then.

You got it right , I saw the bets just go up in couple of casinos where I have invested as soon as the BTC price went down . I guessed they have invested in BTC to get good returns and not to gamble it away .

But I heard that even esports tournaments are getting postponed / cancelled ? If this happens ( normal sports betting people moving out to other forms of betting ) then it is potentially dangerous for them because they will have less idea on what they are betting but they cannot stop themselves.

For me, it is time for the gamblers to take a break right now for gambling and spend their time with their family as the virus is slowly spreading worldwide and affecting all kinds of things that it would like to affect from suspending games to affecting popular celebrities to making a country in a lockdown etc.

If you are heavily gambling on sports betting then you should stop for the moment as most of the games right now are already suspended because of the virus. Now if you are gambling on different games like card games or dice or anything not related to sports then it will depend on you. There are some sites who has different games aside from sports betting and you can bet there but my advice is that you should keep your money for now and take a break.

They might stop playing for awhile due to the reason that there are no games available to bet on since they are suspended, but they are addicts, they'll still gonna play back once it resumes and maybe if there's a chance to gamble in other type of games, they'll certainly do.

It's possible sports betting is somewhat different from gambling casinos if they did need see any big events and they don't want to turn to online gambling casinos, that will stop them from gambling, but this is not going to be permanent, gambling can only stop if they can deny while they are in front of the thing that are addicted too, once it resume they can go back.

Corona give negative impact into all economy and industry ( gambling included ), as long connected with currency will become red. People can get out anytime and sometimes no need difficult reason to stop. I sure this is the right time to stop, value goes down and the game is never change features. You need to get out not because corona but for your future, imagine if your bet become trading/ investment fund the story will changed.

This is one silver lining of the spread of COVID-19. We have some of them actually, like the significant reduction of carbon emission, less traffic, and so on. Gamblers who are addicted to betting on sports games which are now suspended will have to simply look for another source of fun right now. And since it is highly advised that people should remain indoors if they don't have anything important to do outside, I would like to believe that they are now enjoying the company of their family. Same like other, I believe too that Corona effect already spread on gambling industry. I don't have any technical analysis but since whole crypto market already collapsed so basically we might think same as for gambling industry as well. That's why I think gambling addiction is reduced somehow and this is right time to come out from addiction. Most of people are thinking hold some real cash in that situation since I am thinking as well. When most of gamblers will think same like then addiction of gamble definently will be reduce more.
