Seek for more crypto knowledge before investing in new projects, it's not always that easy to choose, as a newbie it's better to stick with old top altcoins on coinmarketcap, why? Because many newbie are in rush to make fast returns, if you are this type pls go for better top coins, 90% of new coins aren't serious at all, they are here to steal money from investors and give fake promises in return
Newbies are safer with top altcoins until they start learning how to choose wisely, do better diggings on new project to avoid scams
Cov-19 have been used to scam many newbies and even Corona virus coins are built too which have no real use cases
Play safe and be willing to learn
I disagree with that for long-term investment if I have the capital to invest in cryptocurrency the safest investment that you could go to is bitcoin. There is no assurance when it comes to other coins and mostly some of the altcoins are just a clone of bitcoin. A lot of companies are interested in bitcoin that would guarantee that the market price of bitcoin will skyrocket in the future compared to other altcoins in the market. And bitcoin is the number one and leading cryptocurrency and compared to another token that is mostly just for short term investment I think bitcoin is the most worth it on your investment.

As if Bitcoin is the only crypto coin that's surging lately, Ethereum was once 150$ months back and it's now 1800$+, look at Chainlink, BNB, DOT, Avalanche, they are bringing lots of profits for investors, I know nothing comes close to bitcoin but there is much more one can make from altcoins as well

I believe that all new and experienced users find ourselves better off, with less risk using only the first 10 or 20 altcoins from the coingecko or coinmarketcap ranking
What can you say about EOS ? This altcoin is on the 19 place both on coingecko or coinmarketcap. The reason I've pointed on EOS is because I've been a holder for a long time. While everything grows up, during 1 year EOS price barely changed. This morning it was +2% growth, now cmc shows -3% price reduction. How is that for a "less risk" investment? Bitcoin shows almost +400% growth, while EOS is +/- on the same level.

The main solution is to start investing in tokens that have been listed in any market.. besides looking for a safe point that as you say, reducing the loss of time and funds is the most important..

I do not follow this coin very well because at first I did not like their payment system or had to buy an account or address to start using DApps. Unlike Bitcoin and other top altcoins that are easy to use so for me, EOS is a bit complicated. But I have tried before to have an EOS account that is free when I play a game based on their network.

well, it's all about luck and risk. if the newbies are brave enough to invest in new project altcoins, then, it's all about luck, if the ICO is successful then they can earn so many profits in there. on the other side, top altcoins, as we know like BTC / ETH, they're very good, but they have to wait for a quite a long time to those altcoins to explode again.

You see, you are an experienced user and already faced some complications with EOS. I dont think that newbies should be mess with EOS wallet activation and etc. There are more easy and quick ways to make first investment. EOS historical price chart shows that its does not change a lot. During last 2 years, you would be lucky if each invested $5 will give you $1 profit. Also, I dont remember EOS making loud announcements or huge updates. They simply exist on the market. If you ask 10 random people on the forum what EOS made during last year, first thing they would tell is "wait, let me check it on google" ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

True as you say for beginners it is better to invest in the top altcoins because the risks we face are lighter and easier for us to predict, then in the top 10 coinmarketcap is the right choice but you also have to look at the potential of the coin to make it easier to make a profit.

Today, no one will make a mistake if they invest in Ethereum and Bitcoin. And of course, the entire top ten of the rating has great prospects even this year, especially given the growth rates of market leaders. But also newcomers should be attentive to news that can radically change the trend of the market.

I would say that this just doesn't relates to just newbies alone, even some that have been in the crypto space for some times might want to invest in new projects and eventually gets burn and by the way, there isnt a 100% vetting that you can do and guarantee that you can avoid investing in bad projects because some can be a genuine as it can be a still fail down the line to some reasons. When Cardano ADA was first listed on Bittrex Back in 2017 I was reading online how it was a scam coin and I believe most people like me that listened to what was been pushed online then and got out of ADA understands now that, that narrative then wasn't true. While investing in top Alts is advisable, there are still many new good projects to profit from even as a newbie and most likly of you stick to some reputable exchanges which have worked for me though.

The point is to make a profit that is not easy at all even though beginners choose coins or tokens that are in the top 10 coinmarketcap, because the investment name still has the same risk even though the losses will not be the same. yes, investing in top coins is highly recommended, especially for beginners or anyone who is not ready to take a high investment risk, even now there are tons of new shitcoins out there, so if you are a beginner in cryptocurrency, make sure you have some knowledge. which is enough to go wherever you want to go. invest so that you avoid losing profits.

Most altcoins especially the top ones aren't protected either in light of the fact that there are some altcoins which get in the top rundown each of the one an abrupt by counterfeit exchanging volume . Yet, the facts confirm that anybody can exchange or put resources into top as well as one of a kind altcoins which will have some significant occasions in the forthcoming months or weeks. Subsequently, any novices can make a few benefits and will be protected in alt markets. On the off chance that any beginners can't handle their emoitons on abrupt little dump than it's smarter to stay with Bitcoin and Ethereum,

Beginners should still be as committed to bitcoin as possible. Of course there are good altcoins but newbie should understand that it is better to carry their dollars to other projects. Knowing and adhering to this earlier i would not have lost so much of my bitcoins...

I understand where you coming from and what you mean but that doesn’t necessarily really mean its safe for newbies even if its a top coin... just imagine a newbie buying bitcoin at 60k because of it he hype and you have seen it yourself then bitcoin goes to 50k... wont the newbie also lose lot of money and that would probably disappoint him/him

yes, I totally agree with your thread. because many beginners don't have much experience in choosing a new altcoin so that it can be self-defeating. So it's better to choose top altcoins for investment because top altcoins have security and avoid lossing asset. because it's better to play it safe by choosing the top altcoins on coinmarketcap.

Sadly the newbies don't seem to like the top altcoins too much due to the sluggishness of these projects, dissatisfied with the returns, what they already know about crypto through a lot of introductory information are hot projects and can be capitalized many times in just a short time, the safe choice is actually very inhibitory and their decision is to invest according to what they see. Of course, there are no shortage of cases of failure and late gain of experience, instead of being assured and having more time to research the crypto world, they have to return to the problem of slowly recovering

Once you start investing, there's nothing called safety. No one knew in advance whether the new currency was safe. What needs is some experience. If you are new and inexperienced, choose the top altcoins because they are reputable and used by many people to trade. Its value depends on the number of project participants.

one way or another, for profitable investments, you need to be able to conduct not only technical, but also fundamental analysis of each project, and if cryptocurrencies are still too young, then the risks increase many times over. But if a person does not want to take risks, then he can always use only the top-rated cryptocurrencies for investments, and thus his capital will be more secure than in another case.

The high the risk, the higher the rewards. The lower the risk, the lower the rewards! Risk reward rationale is behind every investment decision, the real work is how to apportion your scarce resources into less risky coin for maximum reward. New project usually have big potential for bigger reward. How do you manage the risk of investing in new project and getting bigger reward if such project is successful. This should be the bulk of your work schedule as investors and traders in Cryptocurrency market!
