Afaik it does happen in all provider, not only in Play'n Go. I'm saying like this as I have the same experience as you but in other providers.
What we as players needs to do is to limit ourselves, once we win big then we should know what to do next.
It is a natural thing when you win big, you feels that you are in a good luck that make you decide to play over and over again on the same slot/provider.
My suggestion, stop for a while after you hit big or move to other slot/provider if you still want to play.

We need to chase hits a bonus section with around 50-70 or around 30 if we lucky, spin more than 100-150 absolute can rekt ~XD. x50-x100 still can be hit but will not make a profit at all when you need more than 100-150 spin to hit that's just to cover your money for the spin.

Seeing all the big wins over here on Pirates' Plenty, I decided to also try it out  .
Love the design of the slot and it gives regularly small wins, which is always nice.
