It's a boring game for those who are not good at it, I know a little about this game but I don't bother to improve and gain some skills as I'm not into this kind of games. I grow up watching my relatives playing basketball so it has been my hobby and overtime when I learn about sports betting I was tempted to starting betting in sports particular in basketball.

If we rank chess in the list of popular sports in the world, I don't where it rank.

Yes, it is quite boring but in Russia it is very popular, it's their national sport, it's a good sport for the elders so they will not have issues about being forgetfulness and their mental health improve, with the help of the internet people from all walks of life and anywhere on the planet can battle each other, there are a lot of chess club online and offline

Chess is a good sport, but it's slow paced. Way too slow paced. And by slow paced, that even if the game only lasted for 30 minutes, you'd still feel bored of the slowness of the movements of the board. You can even expect to see casters of chess tournames to run out of words to say, why? Simply because the board hasn't moved for quite some time. And imo, enough time for them to describe every advantageous move possible. It's fun to watch streamers play against pros on their free time (while waiting for queues), but that's about it. I mean, even viewers get bored when they only watch the streamer wait for the queue to pop up. But if you were to watch chess solely in its full essence? Only a select few would appreciate it imo.

There's also the issue of how they show the board on a 2d screen, like it lacks appeal. Of course, I'm not saying that making it 3d would make it look better, but you get my point.

Wow! Again sorry for underestimating this game, was just expressing my opinion that this game is not as popular compared to the games I'm betting,  didn't know it's very popular in Russia. That's okay to misjudged this type of game, because most chess players will be the only one to appreciate this type of gambling if possible. I like playing chess, but watching it is quite boring. One match can take several hours and sometimes it can take up to 1 hour before a player makes a move.

In my opinion, it still a good way to earn money by betting on the chess game. I myself also play board games like chess and checkers. I even have a book of checkers that you can study to become a good player. Even though not many people play chess but in my point of view watching a game of chess is also entertaining on what move will a player make.

I guess another way to learn chess is to get one on your computer(they are normally pre-installed) and learn to play it by following the direction provided by the chess software creator... Or you could get a chess video tutorial on video sites like Youtube and follow the instructions while learning to play the game on your computer

If there are no money to be made, I doubt that casino will immediately jump on the bandwagon and add it to their platform. Yes, there are a strong follower of this sport, but unlike poker, there is no fun playing with chess with two players sitting on opposite side. Unlike poker wherein, they can make fun of each other and reading each other. 5-10% commission is not that bad, but if there are no demand then they won't offer it.

I mean that it's obviously who would win (if you know players of course) in the certain game, so betting business is to hard to do it. Games where winner is not determined before game start is rare games (world championships), and betting must be often event, like 2-3 games in a week to bet.

Real blitz is 5 minutes swiss blitz or 3 minutes game (for each move you have few seconds and you don't have chance for a mistake). 10 minutes it's "fast chess".

Well, chess has it's last renaissance during the 70's with Kasparov and Karpov, I still remember it being played in the streets as sort of past time that time and then evolved as being used to 'hussle', like 3 card monte.

But I would agree that the game is somewhat boring and bettors are looking for exciting game specially with the physical aspect (contact sports). So I doubt it will have the support specially at today's time wherein football, UFC, basketball is the top pick for sports bettor.

Chess is a very difficult game to get into for several factors, one of them is that to get any insight into the game you need to invest many hours in it and even then the top players play at a level that even other good players have a problem understanding which makes it difficult to watch, also the matches last very long and lets be honest watching two players not moving for hours is not the most exciting thing in the world, however I am sure that if we see another craze like the one we saw during the 70’s then sports books may add chess in the future.

Guess manipulations will be less on the top popular chess games. People here seem to think that the smaller/unpopular sport are easy to fix or manipulate. .. The popular ones tend to have more eyes on them, more effective rules and better officiating. This probably applies to the chess

There are recent tournaments that GM Magnus Carlsen wasn't on the finals. Same with other online games, there are teams that you knew are undefeatable but being defeated by a rising team, those scenarios can always happen.

Since chess is on the top streaming right now, those popular streamers could influence others to be interested in the game. The problem is, when they knew the term "chess" they think it as a hard, complex, difficult, and very boring game even though they didn't play the game. There's a mode in chess which is blitz, a 5 minutes game and tbh it's very suspense and thrilling if you knew the game even its basics.

Some years back I tried playing chess and also did learned from the friend or must say tried learning the game but soon understood that this requires huge concentration and need to be very focused as you need to know not only your movement but also how the opponents movement and how it could be danger if you move just 1 wrong move in the game. It is very exhaustive game but not my type of it.

Well, its about tactics, strategies, the memorization of possible moves. It is exhausting but it is really fun if you are thinking about how you will be taking down your opponent's king. But it is more fun when they actually apply it in games. Started by Dota 2, as far as I know, LoL also have this game mode and also Mobile Legends.

I've tried some of those online chess sites - I hadn't realised the players expect the game to be over in a matter of minutes and they get very aggressive in the Troll Boxes if you actually stop to think about your moves for a few seconds.
