French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1)

PSG is a better side as compared to almost all other teams in the Ligue 1, the depth of the squad and the performance of the squad has so far been one which cannot  be under estimated with the much they are achieving even beyond  the Ligue 1, I see that even Marseille which at a time were trying to build some momentum to match PSG later became lax and can not contend obviously.

Most of us are seeing the same situation with Lens currently leading the standings, unsure of their ability to perform consistently until the end of the season ultimately making us see PSG as the far more favored candidate. This isn't meant to belittle other teams, but when you look at the quality of PSG's squad compared to other teams, the difference is significant. PSG has dominated Ligue 1 and has also won the Champions League, so PSG's level is certainly different, although I'd love to see other teams compete competitively with them especially in Ligue 1 itself.

Generally speaking, Ligue 1 is always very slow and very boring and predictable, but surely this year with this change of wind there will be a bit more entertainment, but i don't think PSG will remain behind for much longer, let's always remember that they are the best team and that last year they won the Champions League.

Paris sg probably won all the matches after losing the top position. But if lens does not  lose points then it is impossible for psg  to regain the top spot. But if PSG's  performance is unstable then it will gradually become  more difficult for them to  win the title.

Even if I can't really tell what the outcome of the league would be am also excited about what is actually happening right now as PSG are the one trailing the leaders, it feels so good seeing them playing second fiddle for now, I don't know how long this would last but I wish it doesn't end soon, it is quite entertaining and it gives so much credence to the league after so many years of dominance from the PSG.

Good to see Endrick performing so well at Lyon and even got an opportunity to score against Lille today. Now that he has joined Lyon the coach will be featuring him in many matches unlike when he was hidden at Real Madrid. But i don't know why some players just decide to stay at a big team even when they are not being featured in matches more often. Endrick is having a good time at Lyon which is a good step to prepare him ahead of the world cup in June. Anyways the match between Lille versus Lyon is still ongoing and the score is 1:2, Lyon is leading but i think that Lille might get an equalizer before full-time because they are dominating the match though Lyon is getting more shorts on target which could also mean that they can possibly score another goal.

The match against Lyon was tough. Even if they had to admit that Tolisso was pushed, he clearly simulated, so if there wasn't a goal, he should have been booked and there should have been a penalty. Lens might be at the top of the table, but for me I am seeing PSG as the one in control of the league. One point difference is not something that we should be worried about here. Even Lens know that their position at the top of the league is not secured. This is PSG we are talking about so the day Lens will meet PSG that's the day they will hand over the top position to the original owners. Lens should pray that bigger teams in Europe shouldn't come for their top players this January window, because if they do that's when their problem will start. PSG are just playing the chasing game to see how it feels after decades of dominance. But at the right time they will take back their rightful position.

Right place, right timing and right position make Endrick easily scoring the second goals of Lyon and become his first goal of first appearance this season in Ligue 1, overall Endrick playing well for his debut match start playing at the early minutes and answering trust from manager giving him chance. Actually Endrick made great shots on goal at 4th minutes but success blocking by Lille's goal keeper and the result of the goalkeeper's block touched the goal post.

All three goals last night scoring at the first half match and for second half both teams not created many attempt, now Lyon huge pressure for Lille's standings top fourth position with two points left. The top standings position still not change yet and Lens leading with 1 points left from PS G after winning fantastic from Toulouse over 3-0.

We have been saying since last month that Lens will not be able to stay at the top of the table for long. But Lens continues their winning streak. Lens has won the last 7 Ligue 1 matches. Since Lens is able to perform well consistently, the road to capturing the top spot of the table is not easy at all for PSG. I have seen several matches of Lens. This team is able to perform really well. They are able to win by dominating most of the matches. Especially Lens' defense is very strong. They have conceded only 13 goals in 17 matches.

There is only one point separating PSG from the leader Lens, and PSG will take the top spot without even waiting for the match against Lens. There is currently no strong team capable of breaking their dominance. The financial structure of French teams is not on par with PSG, and this situation makes Ligue 1 a league with a predictable outcome.

Three points that feel fantastic and allow Rennes to widen the gap with Strasbourg. The train has left the station, they are on the right track, and that's great. Frankly, Lille's defeat was deserved. Alexandro, as a professional defender should know how to control a ball in his own area. If there was any doubt, he should have cleared the ball as far away as possible and avoided this kind of situation. Rennes took advantage of the defender's absence, scoring two goals. Therefore, Alexandro wasn't ready to return to competition because he wasn't sufficiently committed, and the coach is solely responsible for his team's defeat.

My standout player was Seidu; what a pleasure to see him at this level! Fernandez was practically invisible except for his one-on-one against Samba, and Embolo also contributed with his work with his back to goal, even if he's sometimes too selfless.They did pretty good in their French cup match as well.

The point gaps differences is just 1, which makes me agree that PSG will not struggle that much as far as they can be consistent. Now it is very possible that it will not take long before PSG takes that spot from Lens. Even if Lens tries to draw matches, I think there will be opportunities. And this is not the first time we know PSG with this kind of act. They may remain in second for a while, but toward the end of the league they will just remain consistent till season end, and once the top team on the table fucks up, that is over for them. For even now, I have confidence that PSG is the favorite team to win Ligue 1. Assuming that Lens is taken like 10 points away from PSG, I may say that PSG may struggle enough to win this season, but just one point makes us have more confidence in PSG. But let’s just see what will happen in the few games to be played

Lens are really trying their best to remain at the top, since PSG are tracking back to take their spot on the league table it begins to add more pressure on Lens and why is that happening is because they are now the target and they must carry on with the weight on their shoulder. PSG are just waiting any little chance to take over and start dominating the league again. Tonight they just have a little test which I feel they will pass with so many goals, going on to play Paris does not look like a game to be worried about so in this game I expect more than a goal because they are capable to produce goals, until they meed Lens I can't say who's going to win the league title.
