Older people have always preferred wallets that can be easily exchanged. There are some people who want to use the user-friendly wallet even it costs more money. I don't think it's possible to make such people interested in using Bitcoin.  But even if anyone told me to try to get them interested in Bitcoin, first of all I will tell them what bitcoin is! What bitcoin works and how it works. I will tell them about its history. How the price of bitcoin has risen. Saying this will make them curious about BTC. And finally, I will tell them the details about bitcoin, bitcoin transaction and bitcoin market.

It's not difficult to comprehend the use of bitcoins, even a 5-year-old kid can easily understand it.
Thats not true using of bitcoin is indeed easy to learn but the importance of this is not.
Quote

There's no advanced science simply purchase your bitcoin move it to your wallet and hold it for the long haul.
The main thing which we have to understand not to sell your coin when you're in a panic.
lol,Holding is only for those who can afford to wait and afford to lose but if not?then never advise this for them.
Quote

Bitcoin is decentralized it doesn't mean it will tumble down. Bitcoin is designed to increase so all we need simply show restraint
who says it is designed to increase?
is there and specific proof about this?

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

The function of bitcoin can be explained to the elderly by making educational videos.
Or by inviting people to the big Bitcoin family by illustrating how Bitcoin works and explaining how it works (which should be done by people who specialize in it) as well as raising public awareness.

It’s true that old men don’t want to believe in bitcoin transactions. They want to stay away from electric money transactions. They think that their money will be lost as a result of electric money transaction. We need to dispel this misconception. They need to be told about the future of electric money.

Digital money  Wink

My friend, you are confusing something. Cryptocurrency is no electric (digital) money. The money in your bank account, that you send to anyone are digital money. If the bank has billions on the accounts, that does not mean they have a security storage where an equivalent of it is held.

Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency are a sort of digital assets that can be exchanged for goods or services.

If I was to describe a Bitcoin to an old people. I would say that this is their private and secured bank account, that only they have access, but can be visible to anyone. Fully transparent, yet secure analogue of banking system.

You should guide the elderly so they can't be confused or difficult to turn bitcoin around and you must teach them how to use bitcoin so they can't get scammed by the scammer.

Looking at the level of old adult before we talk about understanding of bitcoin, because we have two categories of old adults which is old adult between the range of (45-70) and old adult between the range of (75-100).
It's obvious that old people between the range of 45-70 will understand the concept of bitcoin with precautions because majority of the old adult can read and write, base on that note teaching them to understand required internet learning by using YouTube for a proper demonstration of images in order to enable them to understand easily.
After using video, then apply textbook or article for intensive studying or reading.

For  old adult between second range which 75-100, is not advisable to educate them concerning cryptocurrency or Bitcoin because chance of understanding will be too poor.
Technically Bitcoin is difficult to understand for the young adults if attention and engagement is not given.

Letting old people understand what bitcoin is will be a lot of work to do. There will always be this thought in their mind, "is bitcoin a scam?" "it is a scam". Lots of older people are not that easy to educate when it comes to new knowledge, they will always say that they are not used to what you are trying to explain them. They really don't need to learn what bitcoin is, they will just be surprised in the future that they are already using crypto.

Exactly. You'll be spending lots of hard work and effort by teaching old people on how to use Bitcoin, that what you'll gain in the long run. The elderly are reluctant to change their ways, even if technology promises to make their lives easier. Those who're interested in Bitcoin could simply leave someone younger to handle their investments. After all, young people are quite fond with the latest technologies. This new generation will eventually replace the old generation, allowing our world to become completely dependent on technology.

For reasons stated above, old people will continue to use Fiat (physical cash) in their daily lives. While Bitcoin has been given a bad reputation over the course of its lifetime (in part due to scams), it still has a large number of supporters behind it. Mainstream media could make old people believe Bitcoin to be a scam. But the decision of making a research about the pioneer cryptocurrency will lie in their own hands. It's all a matter of a person's perception about Bitcoin than anything else. If an old person is highly interested in joining the crypto train, he/she will be driven to use Bitcoin for his/her own benefit. There's nothing we can do about this (making old people understand Bitcoin) except to be patient in order to achieve great results in the future. Just my thoughts Grin

Honestly for me it is a very difficult task to do or maybe near impossible why? It is because our elderly these days is from the time that technology starts to emerge so elderly now a days have a difficult understanding to the advance technology and of course in Bitcoin because it is more complex than anything, maybe we can introduce Bitcoin in some elderly that has a profession related to technology because their are the one's that can easily understand about complex things such as Bitcoin.

I'm looking for the easiest way to make old people understand Bitcoin more thoroughly. I want to let the elderly know about the "Bitcoin revolution", yet I find it quite challenging to explain it to them in a way they can understand how it all works. There are some wallets that have a "user-friendly" interface, but even the basics of sending/receiving Bitcoin can have a steep learning curve for the older people. A Bitcoin wallet with built-in accessibility features, could help even elder people with vision or hearing problems to use the pioneer cryptocurrency in their daily lives.

If you happen to know of a way to make old people understand Bitcoin easily, please let me know. Any suggestions or recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
I think letting them to watch youtube videos about how Bitcoin works is the easiest way for them to understand rather than teaching them verbally. It is hard for them to understand things they are not familliar with most especially if they are not techie enough that is why showing them videos will surely be a good way as it does not require further  and complicated explaination regarding the topic same as the bankers introduce the electronic cards for cashless payments and purchases.

Yeah exactly. I encounter such thing with my family, friends and relative young and old they thought Bitcoin is Scam but the only strong evidence I showed them was that I told them I earned decent amount of free money with Bitcoin by offering services and investing I showed them the money and transactions I got and they started to believe me like "Oh hey! How did you do that? Can you teach us?" It was effective showing them videos and testimony and of course proof of transactions.

BIG WINNER!

Making old people understand Bitcoin isn't an easy thing to do. Don't expect them to get everything after telling them about it for two hours. These old people are smart about money and telling them the advantages of buying a bitcoin or trying to mine bitcoin isn't gonna get them there. It's going to be easier if a person someone close to them is going to introduce it and of course that person should show results that they're earning from it. If other people introduced my mom to cryptocurrency, they wouldn't have believed it. But because of the results my brother was able to produce, it became easier.

To be honest, I think it is impossible to explain bitcoin or blockchain to the elderly who have never had any relation with technology in their lives. Although I’m not young anymore, have always succeeded in maintaining my relationship with the technology and have had knowledge of the cryptocurrency world thanks to my children. Smiley

It's a bit difficult to convince older people but to introduce bitcoin to people I meet there are several ways, namely by explaining how bitcoin works, how to get bitcoin, blockchain technology, how to mine and also where to sell bitcoin. I have arranged everything neatly so that they understand and can learn it smoothly. So in the same way and it takes extra effort so that older people can understand.

You need to have more extra time and effort when you speak out with older people, those people who only understand and wanted to understand fiat than new technology, though it's possible to attract their attentions but the start will be the hard way, just like introducing how to use new gadgets with an early 60's grandpa.

Most of the old people find it difficult to understand about Bitcoin. To make it easier for them to understand, we must explain in easy to understand language. For example, with the parable, let's say Bitcoin is almost the same as investing in valuable goods such as gold, it's just not visible because the system is online. So we have gold or this valuable item in the form of a number which we store either in a digital wallet or online. maybe so for example.

The way I convinced my older relatives to invest some money into bitcoin was not about explaining how good bitcoin is. They have never invested in stocks or gold, they used to keep their savings under the mattress. They have never been taught money and how central banking works. They have never cared about the fact that their savings are slowly debasing. The way I convinced them to buy bitcoin was that through explaining why our financial system is bad, why it is broken and why it needs to be fixed. I explained them what money really is and what characteristics it should have in order to be considered real money. When they realized that what we use now was not real money, they asked me about possible solutions. I said bitcoin fixes this, you should invest in it as much money as you can afford to lose.

Hello!

How would I explain BITCOIN and possibly maybe the CRYPTOCURRENCY in general to old people?

Well, I think what we need to FOCUS first are the problems of our society which BITCOIN was purposely supposedly created. This will be our main guide for them to slowly understand what BITCOIN is. You can't say, you can become millionaire with bitcoin, make more money than before or etc. Since they are old people you should consider their learning capacity too about new things which as I mentioned to give the problems we face now that BITCOIN has a solution, like the middleman/ 3rd party system including financial institutions, etc that makes a financial transaction more costly in the part of recipient or receiver. With BITCOIN, you can transfer money peer-to-peer anyone around the globe with a very low cost and minimum transfer time. Focus there first and slowly open up the world of cryptocurrency.

My best and simplest way to explain BITCOIN to other crytocurrency specific to ETHEREUM is this; BITCOIN is like a calculator while ETHEREUM is a MOBILE PHONE (which has a feature of calculator and a LOT of other functions).

Hello friend, what you ask is very interesting and there are many ways to teach them, but the most essential is with tutorial videos, there are many on the internet and very easy to learn, the other way is to put them into practice with real life examples making comparisons.

Well said. Explaining about Bitcoin's benefits relative to the current monetary system, might attract old people into it. But I think that most old people will still rely on Fiat for daily transactions. The elderly aren't as swift with technology as young people in the mainstream world. At least, all the educational material is there for anyone to understand how Bitcoin works and how to use it in their daily lives. Whenever an old person will adopt Bitcoin or not, it's yet to be seen.

In the end, Bitcoin will end up being used by young people as they easily adopt the latest technologies. I'd bet old people interested in Bitcoin will leave someone young to handle their funds. It's the easiest way they'll be able to participate in the crypto train. While it's not a definitive solution for Bitcoin's adoption among the elderly, it's at least a workaround. Just my thoughts Grin

Tutorial videos will make them Bored mate, remember that Older people are impatience and we cannot let them Seat infront of laptop watchign videos.

i believe that what we need to do is encourage them personally ,let them learn by our convincing power.
make them understand that this is beneficial for them since they are only expecting their  government support and the allowance from their pensions .

They need more time physically and mentally mate and not just video streaming.

I think the best way to explain Bitcoin to the elderly is simple. Most old people don't understand what bitcoin is, but we know that they are very familiar with gold and think gold is a symbol of wealth. So we can attract their attention with the opening words that bitcoin is gold in the digital world.

The explanation begins with the history of why bitcoin is considered gold and then includes articles or clippings about cryptocurrency from well-known tabloid newspapers and newspaper sites. Then the last explanation is that investing in bitcoin our money will not disappear even though the value fluctuates, and it only needs the patience to wait for its value to rise (unless the internet stopped working or the bitcoin network was abandoned).

Don't forget that parents think that they are more conservative than us, safety is the top priority, not the profit.

But I think that most old people will still rely on Fiat for daily transactions.
For better or worse, we also use fiat for daily transactions, it is inevitable since bitcoin is not adopted to a such extent where we can completely opt out from government issued money. What we can do in this situation is try to show our older relatives that at least they have a choice now. The only world they have known is one where government is controlling the most important part of our society - means of exchange, money. Bitcoin has changed that state of affairs for all people, both young and old generations. Whether or not, they wanted that change.
