 I what terms do u think another crypto might beat ethereum and what period of time u want to wait for it to happen, ether got the first mover advantage and there are a lot of dapps built on it.
There is a project I know that can become a serious candidate and that's lamden, it's build with python and python VM, test tools and ide is integrated, lamden is 4x faster to write a smart contract, 100 times easier to test your code, minimum of 100 faster in tps and latency, and 500 times cheaper, lamden is going mainnet 16th Sept and is focused to gather 1000s of Python coders around it by paying them incentives and a share of fees, u know what wil happen in 3 years if u got that much of good and cheap developers?

I thought it could nothing is impossible in the crypto world anything can happen but of course it takes a long time need good accuracy for new crypto

I think that's impossible, especially if it's a new coin. even the old coins that are already on the CMC market cannot replace or beat ethereum itself. I think Ethereum is difficult to replace with new coins, but the problem of competition is that any coin is competing with each other in this industry.

Why not, Etherium constantly promises us eth 2.0 but will not finish the job, I think that if they continue to delay the launch, the young project may well beat eth.

It doesn't matter, they notice that there are some mistakes with the update, so they need to postpone it to fix it and make it better. I believe that ETH will remain the leading project in this market over the next 5 years.

It really matters just like with the list that you mentioned, it's needed to gain investors support and to have a better communities.
New crypto if it's really looking to take a good place taking over ETH there's needed to have a lots of works.
Invested time and money if both get into criteria who knows the chances that they might achieved that position.

there is only 1 rival in my opinion that can overtake Ethereum in second place, yes thats Ripple

Ripple can't be a rival to ethereum when there are others that are currently contending with it. Ripple can't make top coins in the market except when they intend to pump the market as they are known to be scammers. The only project I can see contending with ethereum is the $DOT  which has a cross chain for scalability. At the moments this project has been toping many other projects because of this innovative ideas. Ripple has none and can't contend with any.

Take a good look at Ethereum market cap, no new altcoins or old altcoins comes close, to beat ethereum a project have to be times three better than ripple (XRP) and that's impossible right now, maybe not in the future but it's impossible now.

I agree, people throw these ideas into the air and they're free to do so but when you begin to make even the most simple of the calculations you begin to see that if any coin wants to surpass ethereum they cannot really hope to do so in the short term, in this case the developers need to make an incredible job for years just in order to have any kind of chance to become the second place and get ethereum out of that position and quite honestly I do not see any new coin with that kind of potential.

Everything is possible, indeed currently ETH is always in position 2 CMC but we don't know 3/4 years what will happen, it could be XRP, XMR, LTC or others who are in position 2 CMC. While ETH Dev continues to innovate it is not impossible to remain in position 2.

There's always a possibility specially many developers are creating coins from time to time and they may improve previous successful project or adopt it and apply a new concept to it. It's just a matter of time before we can see a new crypto or project that will beat ETH in the market.

The future can be predicted, I know. But if you know in 5 years or more in the future, your decision could be different. Ethereum 2.0 is almost arriving, now what I believe in 5 years isn't possible. Ethereum blockchain is still fast and enough for all users ( now have some transaction problems). We can't trust new coins easily, at least in a few years.

can overtake eth but what we doubt is if someday there is crypto that can overtake eth will it last long and it can be used as one of the coins that will last long in crypto. because the current position of eth is very strong but we can not be sure about this eth will be easy to overtake

Something that is very unlikely, because even other projects that already exist are sometimes predicted to beat the domination of Ethereum in the market, but the fact is Ethereum is still too strong and not easy to beat. One of them was Ripple which was able to overturn Ethereum's position at that time but it was still too fast if they beat Ethereum, because it took a long time to regenerate a powerful project like Ethereum.

well, the only altcoin I've seen beat ethereum was just XRP, but it didn't take long. however, even the current popular coin, or even the BNB, still doesn't replace ethereum. Well, I do assume that new coins will also need some time to beat Ethereum, even if it really has a lot of potentials.

I think the # 2 spot on ethereum's coinmarketcap will not be replaced easily as there has an ecosystem and they are ready to switch to Ethereum 2.0. In theory, the Ethereum network will solve many of its current problems, including scalability, interoperability, and reduced transaction costs, and increased network speed.

 Can it? Sure, but I doubt that would happen. Ethereum keeps improving and the team behind it doesn't own or created ethereum for themselves which is an important distinction between them and almost all other teams. Think about it, right now almost all ICO's and all that gets created with the owners having all the tokens/coins ever and then giving it out to other people for either investing to them or just bounty, but it is not mined from zero like ethereum did. So right now I doubt there is one that could become better than that.
 
 Plus there is also ethereum 2.0 coming up very soon, that means we are going to end up seeing ethereum going even higher and right now it is second ranked this way, they are just going to increase the gap with xrp and just be way ahead of everyone else over time when 2.0 comes along. Hopefully all of this happen in the next 12 months because I also have a huge amount of money invested into ethereum hoping that this 2.0 thing will make it go crazy high and I can profit from it.

BCH and XRP once overtook ethereum and came in second, to take the second position could have happened if the altcoin had something that attracted cryptocurrency users to their market. Maybe in the coming year because this year I think it's impossible because ethereum provides new developments on their platform. whereas if you look at the value of the price, there are some altcoins that have a higher price than Ethereum. When viewed from the current market dominance there are several coins that could be in the second position, namely XRP and USDT.

if we talk about price , not only ethereum that beatedn by new cryptocurrency. year finance could be an example its price even beat bitcoin price , and many new coins or token do the same thing with YFI beat major coins price. old coins must developt their product well, innovation must to do due many new project build high quality product and could be threat for old coins.
