Liverpool didn't show the ball to Chelsea in the first half. Chelsea could only manage one shot. Liverpool, on the other hand, literally bombarded the Chelsea goal, they took 15 shots and scored 2 goals. They finished the job in the first half. Chelsea need to play with a very different mentality in the second half to be part of the match. If they score a goal, maybe there will be resistance, but if they concede the 3rd goal, they will completely disperse. The game in the first half was quite negative for them. Liverpool will take 3 points from this match and maintain their comfortable position at the top.

When Chelsea scored one goal after conceding three goals to Liverpool, the game changed for a while but that didn’t last long before Liverpool added another goal and it end up demoralizing them the more. Liverpool were exceptional in this match and there’s no doubt they’re the team on the top spot and they need to maintain their position there on how ruthlessly they defeated Chelsea tonight. Chelsea last three wins didn’t speak well for them as Liverpool was already more powerful than them and more tactical throughout the game. Chelsea still needs to go back to the drawing board and not allow this lose to weaken them as they still have more games to play and can still make it to the top four of the competition. It is shaping up, but my secret favorite really lost ground in the last few weeks as they could only get a mere five points out of their last five games. It is not looking good for them and with secret favorite I didn't want to say that I put them as my secret number 1, but I thought they would be around at the top if they continue winning their home games, but this came to an end when they tied the game against Sheffield at home, which was a disaster, and now they had this big loss against Newcastle. But their sorrow is Newcastle's joy for a good reason as they can now at least see Tottenham again from far away.

I see your secret team here is Aston Villa, to clear this what most mid table teams actually do in the second half of the season, they get carried away by their performances and then later they start dropping points mostly to the teams you least expected if to be. This game against Newcastle I seriously wasn’t expecting Aston Villa to just win because Newcastle players are beginning to come back from injury am they are looking more like a team of last season at least for the time been. A lose at Villa Park was almost something rare for Aston Villa under Emery management, a record which spans to almost last season and Newcastle have broken it. Right now Aston Villa need to rally back because dropping points back to back is a very bad for a top 4 contender.

I kinda ignored the fact that players are coming back from injury for Newcastle United and you correctly pointed that out. But I still thought that Aston Villa has been playing so well in their home stadium that I never saw this defeat coming. Or maybe a defeat was possible, but like this?

Before this game Aston Villa had 9 wins and 1 draw and Newcastle was doing horribly away from home as they could only win 1 game so far. But this is football and it is good the way it is! Who doesn't like to be in for a good surprise.

Mauricio pochettino needs to come up with the tactical idea on how to bounce back into this game because given the way things are, it not looking well for the blues.

But thats whats interesting because with some of the results that i think are unexpected such as the results of Brighton and Aston Villa this week prove that the EPL is not an easy place and once they get it wrong and determine the strategy in a match then it will definitely be very bad for the performance.

Absolutely! It is without a doubt the reason why from a fan perspective, the Premier League is the best league in the world because it is unpredictable for most of the games. Now part of the truth is that Manchester City has become increasingly dominant in the last few years and they win the title most of the time, which is kind of boring, but there is still a lot of competition as some of the titles were very close especially when they had been competing with Liverpool. I expect the same for this season.

But at least there is still no team that's winning most of the games 3-0 and it never looks as if there is a chance for anyone else to realistically go for the title. In the Premier League you got some six or seven top teams and then lots of teams that are still strong.

A great victory for Liverpool tonight as they were able to gain all three points from the weak Chelsea, who thought that because they have won three consecutive games, they will be able to make Liverpool drop point, but it ended up been the opposite. Tonight I saw Liverpool having the zeal to win the title this season as they dealt with Chelsea scoring two goals both in the first half and in the second half. The second leg was a mess for Chelsea because they were able to draw Liverpool in Stamford Bridge. Diaz was able to find the back of the net after much effort which he put into the game.

City are so good at chasing down teams that are on the summit, and that is what they are going to do this season, and i think they have now started their winning run, though we have to see how long it lasts. Liverpool must be consistent, when City are just a few points behind you, then you cannot afford a slip up, or else they will claim top spot and might likely not lose it until the end.

City are so fond of doing this. They have done it twice against Liverpool IIRC and also did it again last season against Arsenal, winning the PL title after Arsenal held top spot for over 70% of the season. This is Klopp's last season in charge of Liverpool and he and his team are in a really good position to win the PL as a farewell gift to wrap up his Liverpool career. This is why I was weary when I saw the Liverpool vs Chelsea & Arsenal in back to back games because Liverpool might lose points in any of those games. Such a slip up is enough for city to take the #1 spot on the table.

Well, we just aced past Chelsea and hopefully another win against Arsenal on Sunday. Worth noting that city has an outstanding match in February, should they win it, it'd be just 2 points apart based on current table standings.

Of a truth, when Christopher Nkunku scored Chelsea's first and only goal of the match, the tempo of the changed and a lot of people where already thinking that the London club might do a comeback in the game but I wasn't one of the people who thought so. Liverpool controlled the first half of the game and considering the quality of players in each of the teams, it was clear that Liverpool had a better squad and that's why I didn't give Chelsea a chance to come back. The defeat I think ends Chelsea's hope pf finishing in the top five at the end of the season if you ask me

Almost all through the game, Liverpool played in front of Chelsea's goal. Had Darwin Nunez not just been unfortunate in that game with scoring goals, Liverpool would have won the game with a higher score and more shame than they expected from the fans and supporters. Petrovic for Chelsea also made some saves to reduce the goals scored to just four in this game. While looking to their next game against Arsenal, Liverpool have a good reason to win that game and win the league by staying first, Arsenal also have the chance to slow Liverpool down.

So it is not right for we to expect that Chelsea will have to win Liverpool which is in a very good form and also at the top of the English Premier League table. When the match started and it was a few minutes, I thought it was exciting. But once Liverpool started scoring, I became a bit disappointed because I expected the game to be challenging. I thought both teams would find it hard to score goals. The interesting part was in the first half, where Chelsea players received about four yellow cards. This indicated that the pressure was getting to them, affecting their performance. Seriously even with Chelsea poor performances this season I seriously didn’t predict them losing in this match at such a deficit. Chelsea under Pochettino have been very inconsistent, just last week they won the league cup tie against Middlesbrough just to set a final with Liverpool after they defeated Fulham in their own game. I actually was predicting this game to may be a glimpse of what will happen in the final but this doesn’t seems like it.

The victory that Liverpool got over Chelsea today was mind boggling. The 4 - 1 beat over the blues which happened in the Anfield stadium was a great result for the Reds both in their bid to remain at the top of the Premier league table standing and a morale booster for them to face Chelsea again on the 25th of February in Wembley Stadium for the Carabao cup final.

This triumph against Chelsea have also increased their goal differences significantly and has also prepared them to face Arsenal on the 4th of next Month. Although I don't think they can score Arsenal that easily because Arteta and his squad should be warming up for the challenge from now as this match will serve as a signal to them.

We might just have a different definition of what an interesting match could be as in today’s match, it was just Liverpool playing, I didn’t see Chelsea doing much to make Liverpool work.

The one goalkeeper that was just out of his post every time was Becker. Like, he even came right close to the midfield at times and what did Chelsea players do about that, absolutely nothing, just nothing. You could imagine Sterling in the second half coming quite close to what could have been a one on one but, he chose not to be stingy while he ought to have gone forward with the ball. I would have liked to see Chelsea as a dangerous team but, from the play they’ve had so far, they could be said to be anything but dangerous. What I see is just a team with complete lack of confidence. In the first half, the whole game was played in there halve of the pitch and when you come to the second half, they found a bit of energy to go forward but, still a team in disarray.
The one player that seems to be getting his steps just right remains Chelsea. He might just be the best player for Chelsea in recent times.
It’s 3 goals now, Liverpool still leading and Chelsea aren’t looking like a team that could manage a consolation goal in today’s match day live. I’ll like to see Palmer on the scoresheet but, his being more of a defensive midfielder today for my liking.

So true and the club has been dominating the game against chelsea. it was making the situation even worse for chelsea when pochettino puts palmer as a striker which was not understandable. The club was also doing so numerous mistakes and chelsea lost a lot of goals and the main problem was on the pochettino.
The club was not making a lot of changes during the game. Liverpool owned chelsea in this game and this is a horrible situation when chelsea must be losing three points again and again. Chelsea was doing a serious mistkae but randomly putting some players not in their actual positions.

However, in Jurgen Klopp's final year, Liverpool is driven by more than talent - an emotional need to finish well. it's half time in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea and I can say that Liverpool has had a better performance in every part of the game,they dominated in possession 56:44, corner kick 4:0, shots on goal 6:1. The pressure is too much for Chelsea who couldn't withstand it and it has led to 2 goals and a penalty kick that was missed by Darwin Nunez it would have been 3:0 in favour of Liverpool. The only surprising thing I can see is that Liverpool may likely get more goals in the second half if Chelsea coach doesn't work on their defense.

The reason why a big club like Chelsea cannot defend Liverpool to a draw is what I don't understand.Chelsea is totally a dead team compared to the Chelsea before when they used to be one of the strongest teams in Europe.They are giving Liverpool a free three points,and even if they will say it was a strong team that defeated them,it is bad that they will concede two goals in less than no time like that.With this win over Chelsea,it will be an added mumentum when they play against Arsenal next weakend,in a game Arsenal will termed a must win if they are to still have a chance in the premier league tittle,while Liverpool will make it a must win because they won't want Arsenal to win them and be in a position to snatch the tittle from their finger just like that.

Chelsea cannot hold Liverpool to a draw because Chelsea has been performing poorly since the Premier League started. Even struggling Manchester United had a comfortable win against Chelsea, and you want them to hold Liverpool, who is leading the Premier League table, to a draw.

Liverpool and Chelsea match really exciting with Liverpool delivering masterpiece performance and pressuring Chelsea consistently. They've had one goal for their stress. Game on, I hope Chelsea can respond accordingly, but their defensive play isn't giving much hope in that regard. This match has a lot of surprises to unfold, let's keep our fingers crossed. Enzo Fernandez its really frustrated this evening, he's already gotten a yellow card. I hope he doesn't land himself into more troubles in the future.

it's half time in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea and I can say that Liverpool has had a better performance in every part of the game,they dominated in possession 56:44, corner kick 4:0, shots on goal 6:1. The pressure is too much for Chelsea who couldn't withstand it and it has led to 2 goals and a penalty kick that was missed by Darwin Nunez it would have been 3:0 in favour of Liverpool. The only surprising thing I can see is that Liverpool may likely get more goals in the second half if Chelsea coach doesn't work on their defense.

The reason why a big club like Chelsea cannot defend Liverpool to a draw is what I don't understand.Chelsea is totally a dead team compared to the Chelsea before when they used to be one of the strongest teams in Europe.They are giving Liverpool a free three points,and even if they will say it was a strong team that defeated them,it is bad that they will concede two goals in less than no time like that.With this win over Chelsea,it will be an added mumentum when they play against Arsenal next weakend,in a game Arsenal will termed a must win if they are to still have a chance in the premier league tittle,while Liverpool will make it a must win because they won't want Arsenal to win them and be in a position to snatch the tittle from their finger just like that.

Chelsea cannot hold Liverpool to a draw because Chelsea has been performing poorly since the Premier League started. Even struggling Manchester United had a comfortable win against Chelsea, and you want them to hold Liverpool, who is leading the Premier League table, to a draw.

Draw might be happen but since pochettino has been using the worst line up and it was performing so poorly. No doubt that if chelsea was struggling to face other clubs in EPL caused by pochettino was very often in making mistake in EPL. If i was boehly and i would sack pochettino caused by this coach was totally useless for the club. Chelsea tend to get at least a point from liverpool but it was not happening since liverpool was performing far better than chelsea. Same old chelsea same old depression. what a brilliant decision that was coming from pochettino to put palmer as a centre forward.

The best decision i have ever seen from pochettino, yet another away game yet another embarassing performance from chelsea. No doubt that if the fans were feeling so upset with pochettino, chelsea had been showing poor set up which is very embarassing for a club that had spent a half of billion dollars.
What a crap from chelsea for 90 minutes. I didn't agree to put gallagher in the squad caused by this guy sometimes could be a boomerang for the club. The two penalties have been destroying chelsea's mentality. It was making the situation even worst.
