Maybe it could be that Ten Hag has no other option than Onana. Man United does have Altay Bayindir, but it is likely that Bayindir's performance is not as good as Onana in Ten Hag's eyes. What is clear is that Ten Hag certainly had strong reasons for his decision. I think we should really commend Onana for those point blank brilliant saves against Aston Villa in yesterday match, honestly I like the way Erik ten Hag had handled Onana criticism by many of Man Utd fans by sticking with him during those tough time, though it's very obvious Onana had some previous bad performances which cost the team losing some crucial matches, however Onana had started to prove his critic wrong with a brilliant performance yesterday, had he not stopped those goal bound shots by Aston Villa players Man Utd would have lost that match, though I expect him to continue to improve on his performance and work towards clean sheets in their subsequent matches.

United are trying to make sure they finish in the top four of the English Premier League table before the end of the season which I think is very much realizable considering their current performance in the league. Yeah overall Onana's performance is not very good, we can see that based on the statistics of each match or the 2nd worst among other top teams he has conceded 33 times from 24 matches even though when he played with Inter Milan his performance was very impressive but when he was with Manchester United it really didn't  expectations.

At first we thought Onana needed more adaptation but he got through half the season that should be enough for him to adapt. sometimes I think about when Onana played well at his previous club maybe because the competition there is not as tight as in the Premier League, as we know the Premier League is the most active and tough competition so not all goalkeepers are able to compete.

I can agree with you on the fact that he would have tested De Gea more to see his performance on the pitch, but it didn't happen. However, bringing Onana wasn't the solution to that issue. What I expected him to do was to put Onana to the test, give him more playing time as the second goalkeeper in some games, and see how he would perform before swiftly replacing De Gea with him.

The truth of the matter is, De Gea cannot be compared to Onana because De Gea is a seasoned goalkeeper. But maybe there are some individual differences between De Gea and Eric Ten Hag, which is probably why he didn't get to play many matches.

My advice to Eric Ten Hag is for him to acquire goalkeepers like Nwabali of Nigeria, who have proven capacity and agility as far as being a goalkeeper is concerned. Nwabali could also help Manchester United regain confidence in their defense and address any existing glitches.
