"[H]elp me to understand how UNO can retain value if BTC significantly depreciates."
IMHO: alts are tied to Btc because most alts can't yet be easily (and for a low commission) exchanged for fiat. As more fiat-alt 'portals' are put in place, and as all these currencies begin to be more used as instruments of exchange rather than instruments of speculation*, the 'coupling' between Bitcoin and alts will drop right off.
*which includes us, with bullion and 'big-ticket' purchases and 'The Mall,' which will be Un-Ex but probably using a 'Mall Coin' rather than Uno to buy coffee . . . but we will be running the show, which keeps Uno at the heart of the enterprises.
[Anyone got any products of any sort that we can sell?]

I am not a fan in any way with PAY. They did manage to raise something like $150M in capital if that boils down to just $5M it is still among the top3 stake coins and should maintain that base line. But this is crypto so UNO will likely over take XPY around $1.5M. so i can only hope. Black I think has reached a stability point but has less vol. than UNO (hey everyone give yourself a pat on the back UN betta than black). I think Black is one of the better pairings options. Doge, NXT, OPAL, Fibre, Quark, CANN, and even Zeta are on my list too. Quark has had a horrible record. And I have stayed away from it after getting burned by what I thought was a bottom midsummer 2014. But I gave it a second look and I think it may be a good move now. Fast, Mature distro, low inflation, safe network, fair market listings, and the kicker is a great mobi wallet. For that reason alone I like the idea of linking UNO to Quark since it can be the 'shopping' coin and UNO the investing/savings coin. (But Black and many others listed could play that role too). Key idea being investors can move into UNO to hold and then tradeout (without going to BTC) to a mobi/shopping coin to buy real stuff. BTC absolutely sucks as a shopping coin (30min or more to make sufficient confirms whereas others can clear in under 2min or less). LTC is BTC 2.0 and has the exact same inflation/speed problem plus x40 less hashes than UNO ... it is backed by the MIT mafia and will likely remain top10 for the next 3 years, so it has that going for it. --- Conceptually and as a community I like MAZA too. I not a fan of the mining schedule and Think it will take 5years for MAZA to be ready to rock-n-roll. That aside I hope MAZA and UNO communities can establish strong ties with eyes on any area of co-operation that makes sense. (We are SHA256 bros). I think Zeta and Tek are top on that shared community list, but we should look to help any sound SHA256 out there. I do not like Quark. I do not like Quark sam I am... I do not like it at all.. What's the purpose of Quark? I know the purpose of BTC. I know the purpose of UNO. I also know the purpose of Mazacoin. What is the purpose / reason of Quark? Seriously. I vote, F Quark! I know we're not supposed to "down" other coins... but seriously, why the F quark? F that coin. As far as I'm concerned. completew waste of time, money, and energy. Z

@souljah1h
This NXT/SuperNet is interesting NXT, OPAL, Fibre, and now Vericoin too?
@all this SuperNet (trades as UNITY) and then the other guys BLOCKNet is in the direction of what I speak with 'pairing' UNO with other coins. These act like super groups and each coin can focus on a special use yet all work as a 'united' system.
I don't understand the technical parts of SuperNet. But do advocate creating a UNO-ity SuperDuperNet, less technical more practical group of association.
1. Un-Ex and BW's altmarket project can link UNO with other trade pairs. And both of these projects focus on 'decentralized' trading. So we (Uno/Community) got that going for us and friends that join.
2. The "Community" expands beyond UNO, or the better visual, the communities are weaved into a patch-work.
imagine this: BlackCoin: focuses on merchant adoption and Smart phone transactions. MazaCoin: focus on boots on the ground geo specific 'air drop' national economy. Unity/SuperNet: the NXT super tools features that I don't understand but sound cool. KarmaCoin: focus on Social Media tipping (bots). UNO: focuses on storing and maintaining value and providing 'fair' liquidity. Doge: focuses on mainstream adoption / marketing. {also the most liquidity of all associates}
Each has a focused use, and can lend that use/expertise to the others in such an association of coins.

This was an interesting post from here: LTC good investment? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=998769.0This is what we've been saying about Unobtanium - $UNO is store of value, doesn't require added gimmicks to succeed.

Glad i read the thread today, Edgar. I am at work and the guy coming in for shift changeover in an hour does up Motorcross bikes as a hobby, and always has trouble finding the stickers. He would love some of your stickers. I will have to once again extol the virtues of Crypto. Who knows some rebuilt YZ/KTM may come up for UNO hehe. regards, Tacktic.

It has been awhile, so I thought I would add a plug for Unbreakable Coin Auctions. They let you list an item on their site and specify UNO as a payment method.
CoinPayments.Net is another site that lets merchants directly accept UNO payments. I've used CoinPayments when buying gold & silver from Coaex.com. It works perfectly.

"Puerto Rico plans to issue $2.9 billion of [ debt] in early 2015 . . . to repay $2.2 billion [of debt] that the commonwealth’s highway authority borrowed from a government bank . . . . to refinance debt." http://www.bloombergview.com/quicktake/puerto-ricos-slideExplaining Cryptos to Your Family 101 (very rough arithmetic) World Economic Production (annual) = $74,000 Billion Total crypto market cap at present = $4 B. If cryptos take just 1.0% of W.E.P., Bitcoin will be $212,000 a pop If cryptos take just 0.1%, crypto cap will be $74 B. -- Uno would easily be $50 a pop Even at just 0.024%, altcoin market-cap would be $3.7 B.

I couldn't agree more with you Rojan. Start with honesty and fairness: that is exactly where most crypto currencies have failed miserably. Unobtanium has been vetted for nearly 18 months. How many gimmicky coins are now in the basement of Coinmarketcap? We can build for the long term on a foundation of fairness and low inflation. Uno is like a rock foundation for a house. Too many other cryptocurrencies built on a foundation of sand and have been washed away. Long live the RockChain!

What we need is a comunity sponsored bot which buys every minute or every two minutes 0.1 coins ... you'd see it have big impact on the market. Just an idea. Would also neutralize that other bot which keeps dumping dust.

Would also neutralize that other bot which keeps dumping dust. More sophisticated programming required as this would be too easy to abuse once the pattern is discovered (even if timing is randomized within a certain range). Totally doable to work with existing system and observed patterns in this and any crypto market, though. Good basic idea, gustav!

@ Gustav: actually, it exists -- except the bot is me. 'Project Hoover' has been slowed by the recent price-drop; but there are 250 Uno in 'the warehouse,' marked to be re-sold at their purchase price ( with about 1% profit for me in the 'rounding up'); and about 5 Btc available for further purchases. These Uno were painstakingly 'Hoovered' off Cryptsy by me -- all the bids under 1 Uno. The principle is to make Un-Ex a place where coin is both sold (into safe hands) and bought in 'packets' (as Uno gets harder to come by). If you pop over here -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=757232.0 -- I will sell you a small packet of discount Uno. m

ugh, in my mind there are two types of crypto people. Those who see promise and wish to build something, and those who wanna milk this shit for all it is worth. Of course like anything in life there is an infinite scale between the two types which encompass every possible variation of the two, but if ya gotta boil it down and bastardize it, two types. Bitcoin gained popularity due to the silk road. I am fairly convinced in my mind that if the black market didn't adopt bitcoin, it never would have taken off. Supply and demand man. Drugs are always in demand, obtaining them is difficult, if you have a way to facilitate obtainment, that method becomes valuable. No one has to like it, or agree with it, but the fact is that silk road helped bitcoin immensely. If ya consider that, and you look at how Uno has been doing, it is stellar. I'll keep bitching about that, because that is the catalyst to making Uno explode. The liquidity between Uno and precious metals, but really, any commodity. It doesn't matter which, sugar, potatoes, corn, gas, silver, gold, uranium, what ever. That cements Uno into being something real, something concrete. I would rather NOT see a fiat pairing and would like to see a silver pairing. It would be unique #1, and even more so, silver is real, not tied to any fiat, which gives it more strength imo. Silver, or any precious metal, even copper, is tied to fiat already, so indirectly it happens. I know it is currently happening in a lot of ways here, but my little dream scenario is some daddy Warbucks figure steps in with enough silver to back about half the total supply of uno, or enough capital to purchase enough pm when the demand for it occurs. They would step in because silver is awesome and everything, but it is still a pain in the ass to use. Yeah, you can actually make stuff with it, which is cool. Trying to turn it into cash money though that is accepted at other places, you are taking a hit on it converting it. At least if you could trade it to someone for Uno and not lose, and cash out to fiat, it might be cheaper. I dunno, drunk and ranting, woo. They would step in though to obtain Uno to be able to utilize it's function. It is like a Western Union without stupid fees and such. Any crypto is, but none of them seem to target that market. I don't get that. I think money transfer like that with much much lower fees has a market. Think about how hard it is to get money to someone a couple hundred miles away, without paying out the ass for the "convenience". The only real issue is compliance with laundering laws and such. Bitcoin would also make the most sense for that use, if someone just marketed it correctly. The block chain is a permanent log so i can't imagine it being too hard to stick with the current laws. Customer comes into the store, wants to send money to so and so, the store is the gateway between fiat and crypto for the customer. Customer gives shop owner cash, gets crypto of their choice to send to what ever party. Wallets are logged, transaction id's are logged, everything is on the up and up. In theory it should work. I do agree with the idea of specialization. I have always sorta thought that has been some type of unwritten rule. It makes a lot of sense, can't be good at everything, but if ya get really good at one thing, and join powers, everyone becomes that much stronger. Socialism with a strong focus on individuality? I don't even know how to classify that perspective. You get to thrive doing what you do best, while being supported by others who do the things you aren't so great at better, and helping to support them with the things they aren't so hot at. Seems like if life just worked that way, we would all be winning, can't have that though, although maybe crypto will allow for it since it isn't controlled by "Them", at least not yet anyway. Uno's specialization is: The crypto that doesn't charge you to hodl it lol

"Socialism with a strong focus on individuality? I don't even know how to classify that perspective."
Morning, Sirsmokes.
The evolutionary psychologists (and primatologists) have the most scientifically-defensible take on this. We aren't (as the socialists claim [sigh]) a social species. We are a 'semi-social species' characterised, in all places and in all eras of human history, by 'in-groups.'
The members of the in-groups are bound by kinship and non-kinship ties; and (chaos theory is good at helping one to comprehend this) greater and lesser alliances form and dissolve as individuals and groups work or don't work together to gain mutual benefit.
