What's more special about UNO, besides that the no 1 bagholder almost holds a quarter of all coins?

the no1 bagholder is cryptsy coldstorage. Duh!

Someone was smart, bought the coins up in bulk when they were cheap and now slowly sells them back to the market. That's the status. The coin was fairly distributed with powmining. We also can't help it that everyone was selling their coins to the whales  Roll Eyes
But that's what people always seem to do. It's a natural law: either you are a whale or you sell your coins for cheap money to the whale. There isn't much between that.

We don't like that too but it's probably not only one person but a few. We are busy draining it empty over time (what else can you do?).

If you take cryptsy coldstorage out of the equation the coin is really well distributed compared to most other coins.

Genesis-mining.com is as good as it gets in the mining world.  If you're into cloud mining, I can recommend them based on my own experience so far.
The current hashrate of Uno according to Chainz is 25 Ths.  If we were going to collectively add a meaningful amount of hash (say 20 Ths) to Uno on Genesis, this is what we're looking at:

And even if we did add 20 Ths to the current 25 Ths, 45 Ths is still a tiny drop in the bucket compared to even just 1 PHs we could glean from merge mining with Bitcoin. Buying 20 THs would likely have a negative incentive on current miners, and I would predict the overall hashrate would probably drift back closer to 25 Ths as they leave.

I have to ask if it's the best use of the community's resources, when the Bitcoin hash is "free."  Would those funds be better spent on other projects like price stabilization, liquidity, etc?

I agree with this.
Better to stabilize the price and drive it higher (but not too fast though). In that way the miners are satisfied and the community grows even more as UNO is the only alt that increases in value.

Actually if mining is something you are interested I recommend to mine some other coins and dump them for btc and we all know what will happen with the btc you get from that?  Roll Eyes

It is several wallets and has gone from over 30% to now under 23% in a short period of time. Over time, it will devolve into a de minimus amount in that wallet.

In any event, the community has created liquidity mechanisms to eat any dump as it has proven time over time. Plus there are a number of us who are still gladly acquiring...

...But seriously, standing up to protect the best interests of the community and coin is an essential role in the village.  It isn't always easy to be a pill and be nit-picky, as I have been, but thank you all for understanding.  It's an important role.  I'd be very glad to pass it on!

Every time Cryptsy draws from the cold wallet, they move all of the remaining coins to a new cold wallet address.
The wallet had been marked as Cryptsy in the past, but these guys are drawing the Uno out of it so fast that I gave up trying to mark it.

It could be 1000 people with with 44 coins each, or Wolong with a huge stash.  It's probably somewhere in between. I'm surprised to see it below 23% now. But you know.... what can you do. It's cryptsy. We'll have to get Bigvern drunk one of these days and find out more about it.

But I think this is impressive: checkout the "last change" dates on the top 10 wallets. Lots of them have not moved for 200 to nearly 400 days! Uno doesn't turn over the way other coins do. It's a long term hold.

there are wallets which have not moved since 2013

lots of wallets in top 100 approaching 1 year untouched. That's what a store of value coin looks like. No BS.

@ Uro Coin: I had a look. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

@ Blazin: actually, it already is an outstanding store of value! As an exercise, check the 365-day charts of the top 60 coins on Coinmarketcap. A couple of coins have done better over the year, but none has held as steady as Unobtanium (since April 13, when the ‘Wolong Thing’ finished).

I fully agree with Benefactor about having Bitcoin on hand – ‘Core-tanium’! It’s counter-intuitive, but it’s the sound theoretical play.

I'm very pleased with the volume at Cryptsy and Trex. Uno is showing it's strength.

tee hee looks like a viral infection
----------

@URO ... inflation of 100k per year, but if it hits 5cents I might be interested, but YES the 'it's good for 1 ton' is a mega scam.

--------

@snap-shot UNO .... basically if you hold UNO and we take a snap-shot to launch a 'side-chain' (and if Bryce & Blazr figure out how to merge to btc) then you get a 2nd coin for FREE.  The market value and use is up to us.

--------

@ 11+ btc volume ... I think we are shifting into a new stage, if the Hulks can maintain the BUY walls UNO is set to continue gaining notice as a 'sound bit' of value ... just like Nubits .... I think we can support $3 in a solid manner no need to push much higher.  Also no rush to hold that line, slow and steady, nudge up to the line.

--------

Interesting Pundit we might appeal the case for UNO to
http://www.naation.com/about/

-------

Here's a cool metric ... rank the coins according to $price ... (some one did this earlier too)

BTC     $300-$170 depending on the hysteria
sync     $50 .... no volume
M         $5 ..... too young to know the real capital value (also stakes so securish)
Master  $3.50ish ... very low volume for the amount of market capital (also NO network it is a website ledger thus not real crypto)
CP        $2ish... same as Master but with more market capital and fair volume.
UNO     $2.50+ ... solid network, mature coin and community
LTC      $2ish... inflationary is and understatement but running at 'the silver to btc gold' status
Dark     $1.50ish... we'll see, still inflationary unless you think $50k/month to cover the mining is no problem
Clams    $1ish ... still not sure what the network is ... but backed by 'dice' gambling.  One to watch.
YB         $1ish ... can you read chinese?  No English website.  Copy of Ya coin, notoriously bad copy of it too.
btcD      $1ish ... jl777 version of a Nubit backed by the 'SuperNet' revenue.  Too young.
Nu         SOLID BUCK plus minus a few pennies ... pegged to 1$
Pay        $20-$1 ... under SEC investigation (staking coin)

That's it folks.  That's the top shelf in crypto.  While it is not the best metric, it does hold strong psychological importance because the prices are within the conceptual frame work of prices that people 'get'.  What's a Doge worth?? I can't conceptualize 67 satoshi.

Re-ranking them on ability to level up to mainstream consciousness (by value)
BTC, UNO, CP, ltc, dark, pay and Nu
There's your lucky 7

Flipping the table on btc (price-wise not market-capital) seems very possible if the public already perceives UNO as the price contender.

Can anyone tell me how to recover a wallet to a new Unobtanium storage vault?

I just bought a new computer, downloaded the Unobtanium storage vault, but am not sure how to import the wallet dat.  I have tried replacing the dat file, but still get the default vault that was there after downloading.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Same to me, I didn't look at UNO until last night, trying to get my wallet unlocked.
How can I unlock my wallet? I can change my password, but not left this open or so.

@Z

1. backup the good wallet (x3) sure to be sure
2. go to new "downloaded the Unobtanium storage vault"  APPDATA/ROAMING
3. del or rename that wallet.dat (nothing on that one right?)
4. copy paste in the good wallet as wallet.dat
5. load UNO wallet see if the UNO shows up.

There are other ways to 'import'.  Best wait until someone publishes a better How2 if you have any doubt.  Just a layman on the tech stuff so caution if you still have questions.

We need a good How2 in the 'Tech Thread'.

@The Frisian
Isn't there a change password in the menu 'settings'?
You can also do a change password in the console ... type 'help' and it shows the list of commands.
Again Caution, if you still have questions wait for a better brain to say How2.

Okay I'll drink some of the BTC kool-aid.

NYSE is now in for $100+ million (round 1 or of many)
Coinbase 'regulator' thing means financial institutions can trade (hedge) bitcoin.
Fiat is a mess (unlimited) BTC is 13m units (plus 3600/day), and the boys in finance can do some fancy math.
They have armies of Ph.D / Physics brains.
Wall Street Journal is Hyping btc ... to the money class.
Davos.  Bill Gates.

BTC is at a low.

It doesn't take much to cause panic buyins and launch BTC above the $1300 bar then it goes nutty.

But this is just kicking the can (for a year or so).  Reality will settle back in and BTC will consistently bleedout capital.  The race back down will be insanity.

I'd rather not play poker with Billionaries.  And it is easy to read the next play.

Another round of BTC bull run will double or triple the SHA network hash power.  The market (exchanges) and side services will expand even more.  Improve even more.

And while the general public is all punch drunk on $5000 btc, the big money will swap out for the solid alts.

Three coins in the SHA network have solid fundamentals.  Ix, Uno, and Zeta.  The big dogs will swoop in overnight with $5000 btc coins and gain 50% shares or more (if they can get it they will take it all).

We are entering a whole new realm.  They will shakeout the alts, only to buy them up.

It only depends on the market as no one knows where it goes.
