There were some big surprises in the open weekend of the Premier League.

Arsenal seem to be the strongest team after they beat Coventry City and are definitely favourites to retain the Premier League.

Chelsea managed a difficult win that shows Alonso is the right man for the job. Manchester City won but the manner of the win was not convincing therefore Maresca should not forget his job is not guaranteed unless he emulates Guardiola. As for Tottenham and Manchester United, they lost their respective away games.

Brighton are currently sitting top of the Premier League table

Did you see how they played?  They were taking those fouls overboard.  Like they were deliberately trying to injure some of the Fulham boys.  But it's a derby.  Their next match could be them playing 'less mad'. 

Anyway, some decent matches next week are Tottenham vs Newcastle, Chelsea vs Brighton and Aston Villa vs Arsenal. 

Anyway, Fulham played pretty decent against Chelsea...  So what does everybody think of the draw no bet for Fulham at 2.06 against Sunderland away?

I like it every time we go against Fulham, they're our direct rival and it's been this "dirty" from ages and I also love how the new generation keep the heat up still... Hahah. They were the better team in the second half and there's no single doubt about it.

I'd go BTS in Totteham vs Newcastle ( both looking for first win) and 02.5 in Chelsea vs Brighton or Brighton+1.5 handicap ( I'll check the value) and Fulham should run down Sunderland or at most get a point.

For the fact that Arsenal won there game in flying colours doesn't mean they are the best in performance so far because there opponent Coventry is among the weakest team in the premier league now.
I won't say Arsenal never did a great job by winning with the highest goal margin but it will be nice if we stop over rating there performance for now because the league is still starting and cannot be predicted.
Among all teams that played last week I will say Manchester United where the worst in performance, hull city is no where closer to Manchester United in quality but because the underestimated there performance was the only reason they lost the game.

This will definitely be a test for Alonso but Chelsea have the players to comfortably win.

Having said that, Brighton fans have to be worried whenever they play Chelsea because when they play well their best players end up at Stamford Bridge. Their fans are probably making a list of the players Chelsea will target next and are hoping the board will reject any offers

Hull City won the match because they deserved it. As for Arsenal, it might have been a convincing win but it was against a newly promoted team (Coventry City). Arsenal are favourites to win the Premier League again but will face tough opponents soon, that is when they will demonstrate whether they are capable of winning the Premier League again.

And just found out during the match last weekend that Marco Silva left and went to Benfica.  I think if he does well there, bigger things are in store for him in the next few years.

It was fairly big news at the time, I am surprised you did not know he left Fulham to manage Benfica. I think Silva will be missed at Fulham but he left a decent squad that were capable of avoiding the relegation in their first season without him. He will probably be a success at Benfica because he will have a budget that he did not have at Fulham.

Fulham travel to Sunderland this weekend, I expect them to either win or draw the game.

You seem not to brag a lot with your team like you did 2 seasons ago, isn't that concerning?  
Brighton is not that tough so this should be another easy win for y'all, right? A walkover in short. No need to be biased. It's way too early, but the preparation going on in some teams have reveled that they don't even wish to move below the table. "Survival is winning Botz. Whatever it takes, survive".Alonso has made quite an impressive move to sign the 18 year old Italian defender, Honest Ahanor. I haven't seen him play in professional levels (aside from the highlights) but he has a decent ball knowledge for his age IMO. What are we anticipating?

I get you, I remember our period at Barca when we had so much change, (which honestly we aren't 100% out of but the worst seems to be over). You don't even feel like really supporting the club so much for fear of getting your heart broken

Personally I feel that Alonso is the perfect manager for Chelsea. The club need stability and he is someone that can give them that. He has shown what he is capable of when he managed Bayer Leverkusen. His reign at Real Madrid was cut short because influential players had access to the owners and they made it clear they wanted to leave if Alonso remained. That has worked out in favour of Chelsea.

It was always going to be a difficult task to replace Klopp but Slot did win the Premier League in his first season before being sacked at the end of his second season. Now Iraola will feel the pressure of trying to emulate Klopp and that is an impossible task.

I didn't expect Sunderland to play differently than what I was used to in the past.  I really thought they still would play a little more passively, have a low block and play lots of long balls.  Lolol..    Looks like even the smaller clubs have adjusted and have been playing a more attacking style of football.

And they did well to neutralize Fulham's offense too.  Oh well.  I think I need to watch how these promoted clubs play more closely.  Ipswitch wasn't bad during the first 30 mins of the match too.

Just as I predicted, Chelsea managed to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion with a one-goal difference. Not big of a difference considering the number of goals, but I knew there was no way Alonso would want to record an early loss against a team like Brighton.

I think he has seen their strength and weaknesses at this point and he's definitely going to work towards a solid improvement for tougher opponents in the future. Joāo Pedro shouldn't be part of that first team imo--- you can't miss a goal like that in Madrid and they select you again for another match. If this coach is strict enough, Chelsea might turn out to be one of the most successful clubs this season.

It is a great spectacle for the Premier League when a newly promoted team can occupy a Champions League spot because of goal difference (or otherwise be on top of the Premier League table). No other league can compete with the excitement of the Premier League and Hull City just proved it.

Tottenham and Aston Villa both lost their opening two games. I cannot work out what is going on at Tottenham because they spent a phenomenal amount of money to build the team De Zerbi wanted but they seem to be in serious trouble. Tottenham travel to Nottingham Forest at the weekend and if it results in three consecutive defeats, the fans might be asking for De Zerbi to resign.

Viktor Gyökeres is one of the worst strikers in the league - he can't even get into those positions, he's lazy and slow. There's a reason why a midfielder is playing in his position. Why are you acting like was in a 1-on-1 situation? It was a clear goal chance but it wasn't a 1-on-1 situation and it wasn't as bad as the one Palmer missed.

Losing to Arsenal wouldn't change anything; they've been a better team in the last 5 years than us.

The owners turned the club into a shopping yard for the big clubs and a dump yard for their washed players; sold Rogers, bought Garnacho, sold Watkins, bought Jackson. They're in for a long ride. I just need Zerbi to wake up and start picking points, starting this weekend.

Ige, but they also brought in some players.  Take a look at this...  They bought Manzabi for 60m GBP, Nicolas Jackson for 55m GBP, Mbaye for 55m GBP, Gomes for 40m GBP, Zion Suzuki for 30m GBP, Harwood Bellis for 29.2m GBP, Ruggeri for 25m GBP and Cisse for 5.5m GBP.

No idea who these guys are.  Lol.  Will take a look see later.  But yeah, it isn't like they sold their key players and did nothing with the money.
