In this market, what’s more stressful: watching Bitcoin charts all day or placing a risky bet?
Maybe placing a risky bet is a little bit more stressful than following Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies charts daily. In fact, both are quite stressful especially when the Bitcoin price move violently by $10k within hours. Otherwise when things are quite stable then placing a good amount of money in a risky bet is something that you could not wash from your mind until you see the result and even after it. It depends if you have 2 btc or more a 10k swing in price means you lose 20K hey you had 2 btc at 109k it is now 86k you lost. 2 x 23k = 46k that sucks and is stressful. but 100 bucks on 1000x leverage you only lose the 100 so what . of course if you swing really close to the 1000x payoff number and just miss it by a dollar or 2 that also sucks but you still only lose the 100 you bet. Apart from what learned @philipma1957 has told us, I have to emphasize a crucial fact; Your bet can go to zero with no chance of reversing it, but in case of investment it cannot happen (very very very less probabilty). Even if your investments crash badly there is still a chance to recover that money in the future. It does not work like that with big leaverages lol. that's why if you do a 1000x leverage do not do it often and for really big amounts. Then the only time it gets stressful is if you get really close to the price to make the score. I get stressed with holding it is hard to hodl a lot of my wealth as BTC. IE if I hodl 2 btc and my full value of all assets is 2 million I am around 10% in btc not too hard to do.

most of my savings right now are in bitcoin, which i hope will set me for good in like 15~20 years of holding. so yeah, it's kinda stressful for me as well, because there is always that thought in the back of my mind, if bitcoin crashes and never recovers for whatever reason, i may not end up in as good of a spot as i want to in the future.

I feel your pain, most of my savings are also in Bitcoin, I hardly ever carry fiat and when I do, I convert bitcoin, usdt to fiat, it's wonderful when bitcoin is on a bullish rally, but tough when it's facing a long correction like this one we're in now or in a bear market. Sometimes I hope the price corrects as much as possible so I can make new purchases through DCA and improve my average price.

If bitcoin price is to crash back to $30k, there are whales whole are ready to hold the price there and load more. I don't see the chances of bitcoin crashing and not rising again because of its unlimited supply nature. It will definitely continue to increase in price and not the other way round.

Well yes and no. You only lost 46k if you bought BTC at 100k. If you bought it at $1k, then you're waaaaaaaaaaaaay in profit, imo. Having actual loss and potential loss is a different thing altogether
well i am in at 35k a coin not 1k. so my 2 x 35 =70k which went to 109 or 218k I was up 138k I am now in at 2 x 82k or 164k. I am up 90k thats stressful. I have added about 0.05 to my stack so I am not going mad. dropping 100 on a long shot if done rarely is basically zero stress. I have 200 th mining solo as I type thats 9 dollars a day on a shot at 3.25 btc i do it a few days here and there maybe as much as 300 or 400 dollars in a year. I feel next to zero stress about losing those coins or dollars year after year.

Futures trading is the easiest but hardest way to make a lot of money in less time, with little capital, because that is the purpose of leverage. And yes, it's quite tempting, because you must control your greed, otherwise, the chances of losses are 96%. The odds are against you, you just have to turn the tables, understand the market patterns and you will start making money.
I don't consider anything as difficult or hardest as easiest, hardest and easiest are oppositely with each other. Trading can bring profit in short term, and sometimes you simply need luckiness to get profit in one trade position but in fact, profit or loss with a trader must be in-net, net-loss or net-profit. Trading is hard and trading with Margin or Futures is hardest trading, so you will have highest risk of losing money with Margin or Futures trading. It's not easy, and surely not easiest. It's recommended to start with little capital, because when you are inexperienced and start with losses, those losses will not discourage you so much that you give up, over time, you learn to make better entries within your risk management.
I agree. Trading capital must be very small part of all capital you have, and by separating your trading capital into some smaller parts, you will have second, third, and n chances to trade again after losing your previous trading capita part and learn some lessons from it for doing better later with other capital parts. Just imagine, I entered a long BTC position at the beginning of november and as my ROI was increasing with profit, I was adding new investments, making small DCA purchases and I made some sales while I was in profit. However, when January arrived, I was at a loss to the point of being stopped/liquidated, because due to my DCA purchases, as my profit increased, my average price increased and the closer to the average price, the closer to the danger zone. This was stressful. Result: the position was closed, as it had an expiration date at the end of march and I was at a loss, as the BTC Price never recovered, at least above my entry price. Next time, I will opt for perpetual contracts, and as my profits increase, instead of buying, I will sell and repurchase only if there is a correction again. I will wait to see what direction Bitcoin will take, if at least the BTC's price stays above the 200 MMA on the daily and 4H charts and look for new entries. A monstrous trade is made with patience. This is the logic of futures: trade a little to earn a lot and wait for the market to give you new entry opportunities.

It is more like trading or short term speculation, no longer as long-term investment with DCA. What you're trying to do is like the following strategy, a derivative from DCA. This Smart DCA strategy is controversial and many people consider differently than DCA or no longer meet criteria of DCA strategy, but you're free to apply it.

I look at bitcoin as my early retirement fund. Obviously, none of us want nor expect a significant crash and loss of value from which Bitcoin will never recover. As the saying goes, bitcoin doesn't have a top because fiat doesn't have a bottom. A major threat that the ecosystem will have to deal with sooner or later is that of quantum computing. If the network takes too long to decide which quantum-resistant algorithm to upgrade to and we get people pulling different strings, that would really be bad. A split in the community due to a hard fork would be even worse.

You have good investment idea, and perhaps strategy but this withdrawal strategy can be good to use. Bitcoin is parobolic upwards while fiat currencies are parabolic downwards. It's enough to help Bitcoin increasing in price against fiat currencies and with growth of Bitcoin adoption, massive new demand, Bitcoin price will have another reason to soar in future. https://charts.bitbo.io/yearly-candles/https://charts.bitbo.io/satoshi-per-dollar/

I am sure that quite a lot of bitcoiners who have been in the network for a lot of time also look at bitcoin in the very same way. Bitcoin is volatile, but since it is a retirement fund, it is a very long term investment depending on the age of the individual, and bitcoin does so well in the long run, neither is it going to go to zero.

i would say if you are in your 20s or 30s and you hold bitcoin untill your 50s 60s can turnout great for you, not so much if you are already too old. and bitcoin does so well in the long run, neither is it going to go to zero.
bitcoin is not going to zero, that's for sure. but it will be a mistake not to diversify your retirement funds. after all, past bitcoin performance is not indicative of future results. you should hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

So 27 of 28 over two pools. the entire ship 🚢 thought I was a genius next week i pick 6 of 14 back to normal oh well.
Lol. I would have also thought you were a genius if i was on the ship, could it have been only pure luck though to get such numbers, 27 of 28 over two weeks, i know luck always plays a huge part in gambling, but i guess you know a whole lot about the teams in American football too. Do you still regularly win bets you place on American football? Average luck. With point spreads i run at 47-53% year after years. But in just pick the winner with out a point spread i am good close to 75% In USA football a large favorite may be 7 1/2 points so you need the team to win say 28 to 20. The bookmarks are good at figuring the right points so picking usa games with point spreads ore pretty much 50-50 chance. A LARGE FAVORITE IS 7 1/2 OR MORE POINTS picking just the winner is easier as most large favorites win the game. THE TRICK is picking games with a 2 or 2 1/2 or 3 point spreads. I was good with that.

Don't you think 75% is a bit high? I think professional sports bettors have a ROI of maybe like 13-17%, and that's already good, Meaning they would win round about 55-65% of their bets, which really is quite high. A normal good ROI is like 3-6% by the way so those 13-17% are actually exceptionally good.

Don't you think 75% is a bit high? It sounds very high, but that's just predicting the correct outcome of a match without considering the given odds. If most of your money is on the favorites to win, than you won't be getting high odds, but your win chances will be higher. You will also not profit that much per game. With point spreads, you are closer to doubling your money with every successful bet.

We all know this fact, but adapting to it is a problem. @Pmalek, I love your view of bitcoin. If everyone starts to view bitcoin in such a manner, we will not experience these much noise at every correction.

We all know this fact, but adapting to it is a problem. @Pmalek, I love your view of bitcoin. If everyone starts to view bitcoin in such a manner, we will not experience these much noise at every correction. Sometimes I wonder what fear might there be? We could actually speak of the fear of loosing out; not having to invest or take profit when you ought to have and The fear that Bitcoin might drop to zero which is almost none existent given thriving circumstances of government stands on Bitcoin in recent time. However, Bitcoin revolves in a circle and as such, why would we entertain the fact that, it could dump and never rise without having to entertain the thought that, it could rise and never dump! The circles shouldn’t cause fear rather, it should be something we could relate and utilize for our own benefits.

I look at bitcoin as my early retirement fund. Obviously, none of us want nor expect a significant crash and loss of value from which Bitcoin will never recover.
No matter how much BTC crash, it will always recover, just that that fear will always be there whenever bitcoin starts to crash. We all know this fact, but adapting to it is a problem. @Pmalek, I love your view of bitcoin. If everyone starts to view bitcoin in such a manner, we will not experience these much noise at every correction. LOL, but unfortunately and as a matter of fact, people will always see bitcoin in different lights and perspective, the reason being that we all did not discover about bitcoin the same time, you can't compare the knowledge someone who have known about bitcoin for over 10 years has, to the knowledge of a person that just come to the knowledge of bitcoin last week or last year, they both won't see bitcoin in the same way because the person who just came to the knowledge of bitcoin last year still have limited knowledge and experiences. Many of us who have been here for quite a long time have gotten used to the corrections in price of bitcoin after the rise, but then for some people who are not used to this yet, I believe it's OK for them to panic, and if they panic and sell, it's a buy opportunity for us who understand better, and with time also, those who panic at every price correction will learn to panic no more.
