2017 began as a bullish year for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the market. I remember when BTC went from $1k to almost $20k in just 2017 alone. That's a massive price increase never before seen in the history of crypto. During that time, new projects started to rise with ambitions to make our world a better place. ICOs where a big hit, followed by Bitcoin-based forks like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold. Many who invested prior to the bull market of 2017, have made exponential gains in a short amount of time. It was crypto's best moment as it went into the mainstream so quickly.

Once 2018 started, prices for major cryptocurrencies went all the way down the drain. Governments imposed heavy-handed regulations against ICOs, reducing the demand for ETH and its tokens on the market. At the same time, some countries banned crypto from being used by their citizens. Many negative events happened in 2018, which stifled crypto's growth in the mainstream world. Then came 2019 that was almost the same as 2018, and now it's 2020 where people are starting to buy crypto once more because of the negative effects of COVID-19 on the mainstream economy. Yet, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are still behind their latest ATH  (All-Time-High) in price. With BTC's Third Halving , prices should've been within the $15k range by now. Still, crypto is not the same as it used to be back in 2017.

We can't say that 2017 is the "Golden Year of Crypto", as we are at the very beginning of the development of crypto. I am sure that there will be many more surprises in the future, which will be associated not only with the price of BTC. but also the appearance of new altcoins that will attract attention.

Along side its recently discovered reputation, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies moreover got a celebrity stamp of endorsement in 2017. Boxing whiz Floyd Mayweather snatched features on various events, as he ventured in to advance a number of ICOs utilizing the Ethereum Blockchain. But there are a lot of good project that really concern in listing market, and although maybe not all survived for longer time, but both bounty hunters and investors can get their profit in it. Why do I would prefer to mention about 2016? Yes, we have been being in 2020 and I think its role as same as 2016. It is obviously that I am expecting to see the year 2021 as nearly same as 2017.

It is exactly what we have been witnessing now, isn't it? The DeFi trend wakes up many dead projects. They swapped from dead algorithms to ERC20 and other lively chains, just to join the DeFi party. Newborn projects are created every day. It is a scam wave.

Despite of such facts from the scam wave, from greedy scammers, I see positive things from 2020, as a preparation for a better market in 2021.

2017 has been a very strong year for all cryptocurrencies. Jut search on coinmarketcap any coins available on that period and take a look of the prices. Everything was going very strong in the market. there a was a record each day for weeks and weeks.

Each year, bitcoin is developing in terms of its price, becoming more expensive which is good for hodlers. And also in terms of market adoption. We just experienced a good hype in cryptocurrency holistically in 2017, but this doesn't mean that this kind of scenario will not going to happen again. Right now, altcoins are getting better, but one thing I noticed is that, these altcoins are following the price of bitcoin. Oh my God! Ethereum Blue... You just remembered me about that project. Is it still alive? I remember earning a lot of money back then when it pumped. But the problem is that back then no one could earn money when BTC price was going down. Now we have futures and leverage trading where "big guys" can earn money when BTC price is falling so for them it's not important that price go up. It just has to be volatile to earn money.

I believe that the BTC and other crypto prices will rise again, but no one knows when. Something has to start the next bull run. It won't happen on it's own.

Year 2017 is indeed the best year for crypto so far. The coins drastically increase and reached their ath. Its a profitable year indeed, seeing our coins soaring high makes me think its a really worth it investment. But after that everything changed since the market turn bearish and bitcoin return to its lowest price at $3k. For me personally, 2017 was the best year and I was able to make good money on cryptocurrency. However, now the market is saturated with various cryptocurrencies, and therefore, to repeat the success of 2017, a lot of money and even more new users are needed. To be honest, I doubt it will get the same boom as in 2017. Of course, there will still be successful destinations such as DeFi that can create a little buzz in the market, but this is not the massive boom that was in 2017.

Before saying anything I would like to point out - there is no "shoulds" in investments, its only your or other people's perception of upcoming future.
Anyway, do believe 2017 was the Golden Year of Crypto, in terms of great start of a great new technology in our lives.
Thus, I don't think it was the best year for crypto overall - there were not many good projects and overall technical side was fairly raw compared to current state of crypto market.
Even though bitcoin and eth and most of other old coins are lower in terms of price at the moment - you can clearly see huge improvements in features that cryptos are offering nowadays.
Greater things are yet to come.

I don't really see that year as a good year for crypto not even the word golden comes to mind. I would call it the good year for crypto bounties and that's it. All the things that happened in this year helped a lot of bounty participants and were able to get good value to the signature campaigns, and the translation bounties and at the time the twitter and facebook posts that one does and many people were able to earn decent amount at the time. Its the best year that every crypto hodler and trader could ever dreamt off. The best year so far in the history of cryptocurrency. It is definitely true that year 2017 was a year where a cryptocurrency is in big hit. I am truly agree that 2017 was a Golden year of crypto and i'm lucky enough that i may able to experienced the peak success of the digital currency. For me it really was. Last quarter of 2017 is the best compared to the next one up to until now. Actually, it was a great time to start my journey as a bitcoin investor .

Though last ATH was so memorable for most of us, I do believe that we don't just end there. I wish Ant Man, the Pym Particle and the quantum realm are real so that we can go back through time to take advantage of it. In my opinion,  I think the best is yet to come for Bitcoin and the whole of crypto. The 2017 bull run was never meant to be sustainable and it wasn't healthy for a market to keep growing without retracing or correcting. As much as we want the market to behave that way, It can't be, unfortunately.  I remember it was fueled by the aftermath of bitcoin's halving, ICOs, limited real world use cases and we also had a lot of speculators than actual crypto users who were only interested in how high Bitcoin went in the shortest time possible.

Just like 2016 (Bitcoin halving year) foreran the 2017 bull run so will this 2020 (halving year) also forerun another bull run in 2021. BTW, it is so far so good in the industry as it is now. Given the pandemic, one would expect Bitcoin to have crashed beyond encouragement but that isn't so as price has continued to remain above $10k despite global financial crisis. Again, I think we now have genuine users and investors unlike what we had in 2017 when a lot of investors saw Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies as a get rich quick investment scheme.

I hope so. For crypto to be able to rise towards new ATHs, the pandemic must be put to an end. Only then, the mainstream economy will rise having a positive impact over crypto's prices on the market. While crypto rebounded to its pre-COVID levels in price within a short amount of time, it's still below its latest ATH. We may be in an accumulation phase before the market explodes after a vaccine is found. Or everything could turn bleak, leading towards a massive downfall in price after the demise of COVID-19. Despite what happens in the future, I think that each Bitcoin halving will have profound effects over the crypto market's valuation in the long term. But we'd need to be patient in order to achieve great results in the future.

Nonetheless, 2017 will remain as the "Golden Year of Crypto" until the market experiences new ATHs in price. If 2021 turns out to be extremely bullish for crypto, then it'll become the industry's best year yet. As of now i would say yes. 2017 was crazy, back then i was part of a signature campaign and the coins i earned there were worth mor tan 100k $ at the height of the bullrun.
Of course i didn't sell and now they are worth less than 2k  .

Some say that crypto's boom in 2017, was a result of Tether pumping millions of dollars into various crypto assets across the market. The way I look at this is that we cannot go in the past and only what we can control is the future and there is absolutely no reason to think that bitcoin will drop in the future because the way bitcoins are designed the amount of coins are getting lower and lower as there are coins being lost, burned, etc so the demand will increase and as the coins become lesser and lesser the value has to go up only.

The miners fees is also getting halved after every halving and that means the cost of the bitcoins has to increase after each halving so I mean yes 2017 was great but if we want to succeed we need to plan tomorrow because crying about past will only bring sad memories. Up until now that can be considered Golden event but before that Golden even was when bitcoin hit from pennies to $1000. That's certainly true, mate. 2020 is starting to look like 2017 as crypto gains traction in the mainstream world. With the current trend, it's believed that 2021 will turn out to become crypto's biggest year yet. We just have to be patient in order to achieve good results in the future. What I do is invest a portion of my earnings each week into Bitcoin and other prominent cryptocurrencies on the market for peace of mind. If 2021 turns out to be the year where Bitcoin is valued at over $25k per coin, many of us will be able to double or triple our investment. If we base ourselves on the market's past performance, then 2021 should become the year where crypto experiences a long-lasting bull run.

This year as well if you had stayed invested in bitcoin and good altcoins those have given good returns. But if any coin which is worthless or just a pump and dump coins if invested those coins will never give you good returns even if bitcoin continue to rise. 2017 is very different from the "new time". If you remember, in 2017, huge funds were poured into ANY crypto project not only from professional investors, but also from millions of "home experts". Imho, it was really just a great year for Cryptocurrency and the number of users that was introduced to Cryptocurrency that year was just through the roof. Couldn't agree more with you, mate. One thing for sure, is that Crypto/Blockchain tech still has a long way to go before it becomes fully adopted by people in the mainstream world. There are a lot of hurdles/obstacles that crypto needs to overcome in order to become recognized by the majority of people worldwide. Once institutional investors come into play, things will become interesting for the whole crypto/Blockchain space. There needs to be a proper regulatory framework in order to give crypto that level of legitimacy it deserves. Only then, money will start pouring into the crypto market leading to higher liquidity over the long term. 2017's price frenzy is only the tip of the iceberg, as the future holds many exciting things for the industry.

We will never go back to 2017 and will not see the same scenario again. In 2017 altcoins season, there are a lot of scam projects that pumped, and I think it will not anymore happen this coming altcoin season as investors are smarter and they would not easily invest on coins without researching.

Also, the ICO craze is over, and this De-Fi thing is not as big as the ICO craze.

2017 was a great year no doubt, but i believe it wont compare to the kind of years that are still to come in the crypto space. We are beginning to see the start of mass adoption of the DeFi and coin market cap increment fundamentally. So right now, 2017 was not to be considered the "golden year of crypto" if we will compare it this year. This year, we experienced the new ATH and breaking the records of the decade old history of bitcoin. Not only the price that we are talking here, but the adoption it is gaining from the market. Look at the big players finally joining the crypto market, PayPal, Tesla, Grayscale, MicroStrategy, and so on. I believe, a lot more companies will integrate crypto in their payment system very soon. If we compare what bitcoin has achieved today from year 2017. We can say, it has come a long way already.

I must say 2017 was a great great year for cryptocurrencies because many people started to know about bitcoin and then learn much more about blockchain and found alt coin. The new adopters came because of the popularity of bitcoin at that time and like you said, the bear season then came. But apparently, crypto world still last, even grow, DeFi as evidence were succeed to make cryptocurrencies sounds again. 2021 has been crypto's best year yet. Still, I still believe 2017 is the "Golden Year of Crypto" because it was a time when crypto/Blockchain tech finally hit mainstream adoption. It was the "starting point" for crypto as it became recognized by many people worldwide. My guess is that each Bitcoin halving will have a very positive effect over most cryptocurrency's prices on the market. 2021's surge is mostly attributed to the Bitcoin halving of May 2020. Who knows if 2025 becomes even bigger than 2021 for the crypto/Blockchain industry?

Nonetheless, the ever-rising popularity of crypto/Blockchain tech tells us that it's here to stay. There will be times where everything is reds and roses. But there will be times where everything goes bleak, leaving you desperate in the short term. It's always important to take advantage of the hype surrounding the market at certain times, in order to secure your financial future. Once everything goes down the drain, you'll be able to buy more coins at cheap prices to stack them up for the future. No matter which year it is, crypto will stand the test of time as a decentralized version of Fiat in the mainstream world. Just my opinion

And we're looking at technology here, not just some matter that won't constantly evolve every year, if internet and the web evolves, so does cryptocurrency, not only Bitcoin but the market itself continues to evolve, you can't say that 2017 was the golden year when in fact cryptocurrency is just getting started to reach its potential level.

That year is one of a kind in history of cryptocurrency. Many people got benefited and many lives changed because of that massive and huge market price increase. For me, for now 2017 is the golden year of cryptocurrency but I am seeing some possibility that year 2021-2022 we will have another golden year for crypto.

For me personally i think It was the most productive year since it was so natural to acquire 1,000 percent benefit with pretty much every ICO or altcoin that was out now unlike now that almost all new projects are scams . And Presently, there are some profits, however it is truly difficult to anticipate which coin will actually goto the moon. Right now, we presently don't see such increments on the new DeFi coins and hopefully that would change soon
