I'm currently switching email addresses across all my accounts to move away from Google having recently upgraded to Proton Mail. I've successfully updated my email on almost every other platform but Duelbits support told me it’s not possible to change the email on an existing account. When I asked if I could simply close my current account and open a new one using my new address, they refused that as well.

Is it really true that you can't change your email here? That definitely doesn't seem like standard practice. Has anyone else run into this?

I haven’t encountered this situation myself, but I don’t think you should create a new account, especially if support explicitly told you that it’s not allowed. Duelbits may have an internal policy regarding changing your email address or creating a new account. It’s strange that you can’t at least close the old account and use your new email address. If I were you, I’d ask support to explain the reason for the refusal and clarify whether there’s any way to resolve the issue.

Their FAQ says that you can't change your email address, but you can close your account and then create a new one.

The email address that your account has been registered to cannot be changed/switched to a different address.
This policy ensures account security and prevents unauthorised changes. If you entered an incorrect email address during registration, you must close the account associated with that email and create a new one with the correct email address.

Their Support Guide says that you can contact their live support to close your account.

If you need to manage your gambling activity, Duelbits provides several tools accessible via Live Support:
Self-exclusion: Close your account for a defined period, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, or permanently. Contact Live Support and your account will be restricted immediately.

But their Self-Exclusion Policy says that you can't create a new account if you have closed one.

You should not attempt or proceed to open any new accounts during your self-exclusion period, or indefinitely if a permanent self-exclusion has been selected.

From your conversation with duelbits support, I perceive that it is possible to change email address under some certain circumstances. Just that the support agent didn't find your reason compelling enough to trigger that option of email change.

You have to push further, they'll change the email. It could be that the only window they have to change your email is when you lose access to it. If changing to proton will make you lose access to your current mail, present it as a lost access since you are definitely gonna lose access to it.

I remember that Duelbits allowed to change username but not sure it is possible now or they already stopped that feature a long time.

Email change: I check some pages and don't find any information and guide about it. If email change is possible, it's unsure why it is not written in ToS or any page.

I think they would just go by what is in their FAQ. Changing the email address is not possible, but closing the account and opening a new one under a new email should be OK. Have you quoted what is stated in the FAQ to them?
I understand why they wouldn't want to change the email addresses just like that. In case a dispute arises in the future due to a security lapse leading to loss of user funds. That would be a huge complication for them

I don’t know why crash games is taking a back seat on this, I think it should be at the second place or third, it’s certainly one of the games I enjoy playing but then,

Mines got its place for sure, listing in the first of those series for the votes. It’s one of the games I have some assurances about while playing, just limiting the mines between ranges of 3-4 and dig away for my treasures and multipliers. Both these games gets my vote.

There is no evidence to say it is exactly what happened with this vote but there is possibility for biased result as I wrote above. Crash games are exciting to play but hard to win and if Duelbits gamblers aim at playing to win, wanting to reduce risk, they will still play crash games but more likely will prefer to play other games more often.

I'm particularly thinking that the results from the pool are a reflection of the gambling preference of the people in the location where Duelbits has its most traffic from. I did some quick research on that, and what I found out is that Norway generates the most traffic. (read here)

I don't think Norwegians have a lot of interest in crash games, hence the voting results. I know people from other countries also contributed to the result from the poll, but it makes sense to think that the most voters who contributed to the study will be Norwegians.

That is not low, that is sad and weird. Almost 190k followers, but only 9100 post views and 63 users voted. Even simple promotional post from them get more engagement. Maybe people were unaware that they could click and thought it was just a picture of vote results ? Voting results also raise questions. Crash has always been most popular and get last place?

Certik reports a suspicious flow of less than $6M - this incident involves a case a few years ago where Duelbits wallets were exploited for about $4.6 M in 2024 and are now being exploited again.
May they cover these losses and keep customer funds safe.

I don't know what mirror website you are talking about, but as far as I know there are only two official domains.
One is duelbits.com and the other is duelbits.io.

Duelbits.com says that "This website uses a security service to protect against malicious bots. This page is displayed while the website verifies you are not a bot."
Duelbits.io is says that "The website is undergoing planned maintenance but we’ll be back shortly!"

I hope they can get their shit together because you keep getting hacked it is just a matter of time until you get again, and again, and you do not have infinite money to lose

They should hire a big team to investigate all their code and security measures
