I don't need too much bitcoin, as long as I can live happily even a little amount of bitcoin will be enough for me. It's difficult to accumulate large amount of bitcoin if you don't have much capital.

I will be contented with 5BTC to secure my future provided that the price reach $100K of course I will also take into consideration my retirement age range which should be pegged at 60 years at this age with  5BTC I will live conviently without securing any pension or social benefits from any government, of course at that age my demand
for luxuries and extravagant expenses shouldd have drop,  however with the soaring price of BTC it will be very difficult to amass such amount of bitcoin.

Location is the most important aspect here. If you live in central Africa only 1 bitcoin is going to be a lot of money. Enough to start your own business.

In the EU it's also much different. When you live in the country you can buy a house for 50% of what it costs in the city and if you want to live in the capital it's usually another 30% added to the price.

In the EU 5BTC will give you a startup like allow you to start a business, get a flat almost in any city that you choose, allow you to run a franchise, but it won't secure you a future. No money will do that. If you're dumb and don't know how to spend money even 50BTC will only buy you a few years of lavish lifestyle.

I will be contented with 5BTC to secure my future provided that the price reach $100K of course I will also take into consideration my retirement age range which should be pegged at 60 years at this age with  5BTC I will live conveniently without securing any pension or social benefits from any government, of course at that age my demand for luxuries and extravagant expenses should have drop,  however with the soaring price of BTC it will be very difficult to amass such amount of bitcoin.
I doubt this will be a convenient way to be even save on bitcoins at that time. Securing pension and other benefits from any government should be a must as you won't know what will happen on the future. Anyways, I agree with the amount of Bitcoin you've chosen but I doubt you'll be able to save that much bitcoin once you own it especially if you don't own much bitcoins. There's a lot that might happen where you'll may be required to spend those bitcoins on such as market price dump, emergency funds and many more. But if you have those taken care of and have enough monetary to support to yourself, and have an emotional patience when it comes to market price then I can say that amount be realistic to save.
As of now, 5BTC is 120k worth of USD and if you can save this much on bitcoin I can say that you're rich already Tongue . If another bitcoin halving happens then we can see another ATH where 100K$ isn't out of the option and anyone who holds 10BTC would be a millionaire in terms of USD and having a half a million USD that time would be fantastic.

Right now, realistically speaking I can see myself be secure a funds of 0.1-0.5BTC as having more would make me care more especially in times of a market price decline. And I don't think I'm emotionally stable to not be affected by that.

I doubt if we can determine how much we need to secure our future. In fact, people should collect as many as they can to secure their future. On the other hand, the number depends on the person and his goal. If someone has no big goal, he doesn't need many BTC for his future. While if someone expects much on his future, he must hope for a big number of BTC. 10 BTC probably doesn't fulfill his expectation.

Personal needs and family needs were continuous and yet it is hard to identify how much do we need to secure our future where inflation rates increase each year and the cost of living also increases. Its just a great factor knowing that we have bitcoin today that can be one of our source of income to sustain our daily needs. As much as we wanted to attain a financial freedom as early as we can but i guess even having 10 BTC couldn't be a good reason to claim for a secured future.

Obtaining at least 1 Bitcoin is the main goal that most people are dreaming about to achieve in life specially now that we are seeing how the value of Bitcoin gets big as time passes by making it a lot more valuable and interesting to Bitcoiners and even non-Bitcoiners as well. I think there are not desirable minimum or maximum amount of Bitcoin you take hold to secure your future because not all can afford to obtain 1 Bitcoin due to different financial capacity we do have. For many people it is already be a big thought of blessing to have a part of 1 Bitcoin to consider that can make them somehow secure their future. Now that Bitcoin have reached a new ATH, having even 0.1-0.5 BTC is already a considerable amount to have because of the value that 1 Bitcoin possesses right now that can still continue to grow in the near future.

Since 1 BTC is enough to put you in 1% of the population within the next 10 years (provided that bitcoin survives that long) it should be enough to ensure safe future. By safe future I mean that you will never be homeless or have to beg for food. It will make sure you'll have normal living conditions. To pursue your goals, education, private business, you'll probably need more than that and even more if you want to make sure your children will also be able to get proper education.

It depends on which country we live in, for my country which is a poor country. Then it only takes 2 BTC to secure the future. For myself, I have
a target of collecting at least 5 BTC as a retirement plan, but because the price of Bitcoin is currently increasing, it is increasingly difficult to collect
Bitcoin. But as long as we try there will definitely be a way to get to our target, I have a target for the next 10 years to have at least 5 BTC.

Well, that is a good enough amount, --in my country, that is a massive amount and it could be more than 5 million worth in our national currency which is a really good amount for a retirement allocation. Let us just try to save and invest weekly on bitcoin, no matter what goes the price just spare an amount of money from your salary to invest bitcoin. Instead, saving of the bank or even if you have a piggy bank in your house, much better use it to buy in bitcoin, every year there is an ATH will happen and for sure it will continue in the present year.

Obviously this depends on where you are located.  Such as if you live in an expensive place in the US or Canada, then its a lot more than in other countries.  Also if you are young, middle age or older.

I always felt the number had to been minimum 10 if you asked me this years ago.  But now with news articles and videos saying btc true value is somewhere in the 300-400k range... well that 10 btc number certainly is a bit high.  I guess the number probably is minimum 5?  Then again you hear old videos where people say... just make sure you have just 1 bitcoin...as that is enough.  Thus if it goes to 1 million dollars... well that is a lot of money.  Even after taxes, that is a lot.   But when people say its half a million or a million, well then that number could drop to say 2 or even 3.

And i see many people on this forum talk about not having 1 btc and its their goal to get 1 btc.  Obviously back then, it was much easier with the low prices.  But now... anyone who wants 1 btc need to spend 25k... thats a ton of money for most people and most people don't even have that in their savings.  But for someone who is from the West... thus in the US or Canada... what number would you say that should be?  Of course it could be in a wealthy country in say Asia, Europe or Australia.  But you get my point.  I got to assume if you talking about 10 years down the road or more... it has to be minimum 5?  Or minimum 10?  Or is 10 a bit too high?

If you are young enough, then even 1 BTC will perfectly ensure your old age.

The total supply of bitcoins is less than 21 million coins.  We can see that Bitcoin is the best investment in the last decade.  The new decade (2021-2030) is just beginning, but there is no doubt that the price of Bitcoin is showing excellent results so far.

Periodic halvings reduce the amount of coins that come from miners.  Holders are reluctant to part with their Bitcoins, and institutional investors are eager to buy as many coins as possible.

1 BTC will be great wealth in the near future ...

This is depend on your demand and  your area. Now in this golden time of bitcoin I think only 10 BTC can  be enough for your living life. Because 1 BTC=$40k now. It's huge for now. But you never know when it's come to down position . It's risky to looking forward to BTC for Ur secure life.

Can't tell how much but of course, I personally like more Bitcoins, it'll make my future more secured than having few bitcoins. If I got a few  BTC and was bought during the lowest price of this year, my momey would be 8x bigger right now that will be able to make a business.

So as much as I can get more, I will because I believe that soon, it'll give another unexpected price.

I'm a Simple and cheap living human ,so i guess 10 btc is more than enough for me to live forever,as i am health conscious and Never been hospitalized seriously my entire life.

LOL.. do you have 10 BTC in your wallet? I would assume less than 0.1% of the Bitcointalk users will be having more than 10 BTC with them. Even most of the earliest users have sold their coin holdings many years ago. Only a minority has held on to them. And with institutional investors mopping up most of the available supply, the number of coins held by individual investors has undergone a decline.

It would be interesting to know the stats, but it would likewise be difficult to get answers.  Few will feel comfortable disclosing that.

One Bitcoin price right now is around $36825.

I'm from India, my calculation is just for survival and nothing more as sophistication.

Food, Shelter, Dress is the basic. Based on the present economic scenario prevailing around I've made the calculations below.

Per day for food ~ $2 (Monthly ~ $60 to $70)
Own House ~ $10000 (For a family of four)
Dress ~ $50
Medical Insurance/Medical needs ~ $50
Education ~ Depends (average ~ $100)
Entertainment and other needs ~ $200
Travel and communication ~ 200

Altogether it costs $10670 for a month including the construction of a new home.

From second month onwards it'll cost only $670 - $700. On an average of $700/month it costs $8400/year.

Upon this calculation with the present value of bitcoin one can survive for more than four years. On an average of four years of survival with a bitcoin I need 10 bitcoin to lead a life upto the age of 60.

It depends on you how much money you want to invest. Investing in bitcoin is similar to investing in stocks, but it is far more volatile due to the daily swings in bitcoin.

with the value of Bitcoin today ? damn 5 Bitcoin is more than enough for me to Live my entire life in harmony .

Imagine 38-40,000$ ? that means i will be having 200,000 value to live ..

I will take all the Cash and will establish my own businesses , and maintain the 1/4 to wait for the correction and will re enter when the fall drops down to 20,000 level .

This is once in a Lifetime chance , if only Giving a change now ,Bus sadly that My holding dont even Get close to half a Bitcoin , but i'm still happy because i have kept some Bitcoins the whole 2020 even that there is a Really hard days living with Pandemic.

This seem like very high monthly costs for india. Do you need to live in a huge expensive city?

In europe you could live for less depending on country of course and location.

Education is free. Like check out the free courses by Michael Saylor.

Entertainment $200 why? Travel $200 why?

Also you should put the house cost in your monthly, $10k is very cheap btw, congrats!

So if you finance a house you easily could get it for less than $100 a month over 10 years, right?

Plus internet i dont know what it costs in india maybe $20 a month?

so

House $100 (will actually be less, but you can use some money for electricity and other things)
Food $100 (plus grow your own!)
Clothes $50
Kingfisher $20 a month
Medical $50
Plus extras $80 (like a prepaid phone would be cheap cost, right)

Thats $400 a month with house!! $300 without house!

Considering you can still do some side jobs or work online, you will have extra
income.

Now the problem with bitcoin is volatility. But even at the current price you could live
almost 10 years and have your house paid for. If Bitcoin keeps rising you could just sell
small parts over time and it will last you even longer!

It was amazing to be part of Bitcointalk for a little while. Thankyou. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5316241.0
