Reinvest initial investment, or keep profits?

In the first case, I have secured my initial investment in the long term, so I won't need to worry about it, but it also won't make much more for me.

In the second case, the potential for gains is much higher, but I still risk losing my initial investment. I don't need the money now, but I would feel sorry about it.

For your first case, are you satisfied with your profit? Have you taken enough risk and now want to just reap profits without risking anything? Then go ahead. Take off your initial capital and invest rest of your profits. Choose coins that are well established and forget about them. Check them back after years and enjoy whatever you made!

For your second case, can you afford to lose? If you can, then forget about your "first option" and just invest. In both case, if you invest in well known coins, in the long run you will make profit!

My advice for you is: Split your money after taking profit into 2 part: part 1 is for the initial capital that you should keep in fiat. Part 2 is the profit you get so far. You can reinvest by the part 2. In bad investment, you will not lose your capital, and only lose all your profits or have left money from your profit if the reinvestment get a loss of 50%, 80% or 90%.

It gives you a safe reinvestment. If you are right, and get luck, you can earn more profit. If not, you will still have your initial capital to use.

Securing your initial investment would be the best thing should be done or to prioritize but there are people who do really tend to risk on making some compounding thing for the chance for them
to make that investment make more bigger.

I would request you to keep the initial investment aside and reinvest the profit into bitcoin because if you reinvest everything then you would think of panic selling if the market fluctuates, again reinvesting the profit is very risky but if you are in for long term then reinvest into Bitcoin else look for day trading as there are possibilities of good income when market fluctuates.

If you can really afford the long term investment in bitcoin, then this last one is better choice but remember, long term may be one, two, three or even four years. They ignore the risk from loss that is taken from percent of the capital they invest.

Initial capital: $1000 so 50% loss will be $500.
Initial capital $1000 + profit $2000. Then if they reinvest all $3000, 50% loss will be $1500. If the loss is 80%, it will be $2400 and they will have only $600 left. It will be 40 % loss from initial capital.

I think it's better to wait some time for the Bitcoin price to cool down a little bit and re-invest your money again because you are here already in the crypto industry so dont just remain idle grab the opportunity to earn more but be cautions because as you said crypto is a volatile investment so you must be aware of it. by the way congrats on your gain.

Reinvest is always the best idea if you want to earn more more and more. There are several ways helping you to make a clear decision so as not to lose your initial money during the investment. Personally, I would withdraw the initial money and reinvest the rest (around $8000 as you say). Opportunities are out there and wait for us to seek and I dont want to waste my money by doing nothing with them.

MOney management is one of the best method which keep your money safe. I suggest you should split your next capital to many small parts which both let you join different chances and prevent losing a huge loss at once

I'm a big fan of diversification so I suggest investing in something else, something such as the traditional assets that have less volatility and only if you are familiar with what you do or can gain the knowledge before making the investment.

I have the same thing done with my investment, I am diversified although in collectibles and bitcoin, I hope to diversify it more because I am a lazy person and I want my money to work for me. When you say traditional assets, what do you mean by that because I too am taking this advice as well. Is it real estate, stocks and bonds, gold/precious metals or other stable cryptocurrencies?

To OP, my advice to you is to keep the profits because you deserve that and reinvest your initial capital to another investment while bitcoin is still running high, make sure that you can easily pull out from that temporary investment so you can get back to investing in bitcoin when the prices are dumping and also treat yourself a little, maybe buy some guilty pleasure food, go to a vacation, or do something that makes you feel good, hell even get some prostitutes, that is if you are single.

You already sold your bitcoin and made a nice profit, but you can actually hold it for more and not sell at below $40k because once the bitcoin price increases again, the price will be at more than $45k. But that will not be a problem since you now have much money to buy more bitcoin, and I am sure that the amount of bitcoin you buy will be more than you have before. If you want to hold bitcoin for the long term, then after you buy bitcoin at the downtrend, you need to send your bitcoin in a cold wallet and don't tell other people you keep bitcoin for the long term.

In the past weeks, I have sold some BTC, and I have my initial investment (about $5000) out. Which means that everything I have in BTC now (about $8000) is "free". That is fine, but I am thinking about what to do with the money I took out:

I think the best choice would be to reinvest in Bitcoin as soon as there is dip. The answer to your question about when to invest is to wait for a good timing or you can set your target price drop. Long term investment in Bitcoin is more profitable than investing in a stable asset.

Good to hear you gained profit from bitcoin and increase your portfolio. Reinvesting your initial capital would increase your portfolio once again. But remember, you wouldn't be lucky always. There is a possibility of losing your capital as well. Since you don't need your money right now, you can invest it somewhere. Doesn't necessary to invest again in Bitcoin. My suggestion is, you would take out your initial investment from crypto and invest it in real life. And you could reinvest your profits in Bitcoin whatever you gained. Of course, buy-in dip according to you. So, if in case of Bitcoin drop unexpectedly, then would will not be panic and hold for longer. Because you already invest your capital in real-life investments. Panic sell is a huge problem in the crypto industry. Now you don't need money, but who knows about tomorrow. If you still want some Bitcoin and crypto exposure, there are now several ETFs out there that usually have "Blockchain" in the name (but not always, so do some googling).

There is also a crypto mining company called Argo Blockchain which trades publically and has now become popular, a bit too popular as it is up 1300% over 3 months (yes you heard that right). You've probably missed the best profit on that though.

Also, bear in mind that mining companies probably now make better money from altcoins than Bitcoin.

First of all its good that you gained a huge profit from your investment into Bitcoin.

Now to answer your question, both of them have pros and cons. I will share some of it.

1. In the first case, the pros is like you said it can secure your future with that and knowing cryptocurrency as a very volatile market there is a chance that you need your money but you don't want to sell it because you will be at a loss. I'm doing this kind of thing. Investing a portion of my money in a lesser and for long term investment like the stock market.
2. Reinvesting in Bitcoin might be a good idea but normally those who can't bear a huge loss are considering cutting losses when they see it. As long as you aren't that much affected on that investment and it can't affect your lifestyle then you might put some and hold. Aside from my stock market investments, I'm also holding Bitcoins for the future.

After all, it will depend on you. You can do both reinvesting and having some profits.
