I am not very sure that Manchester United will be able to return the title to Old Trafford anytime soon. Right now, big money is with Manchester City, which can constantly strengthen its squad and maintain a high level of competition. Therefore, United will have to wait a long time for their chance, even if Carrick can actually build a strong team. A managerial mentality similar to Ferguson's approach alone may not be enough when there is such a financially powerful rival as City nearby.
