I feel like there a place for Bitcoin themed content with high production value . Something that's community oriented, without being endorsed by some big company/products or already big channels doing a Bitcoin/cryptocurrency video every now and then. And something that's not just talking about price speculation!
For starters: Imagine LinusTechTips and the theme would be BitcoinTalk instead of tech reviews.

Bitcoin related game shows was also something running through my head while away from the forum. Might be a fun project in the future.

Bitcoin game shows! That's a cool idea, though we need to either create a format of our own, or... find an open licensed format? Not sure if those exist, for any popular shows.
Speaking of games, here's an idea, do some videos while playing games with a crypto twist. Got the idea from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5351369

Also, on another note: For an upcoming video segment that's going to be filmed tomorrow (surprise!), we're going to read out loud a list of usernames we've all probably read in our inside voice wrong the whole time!
Got any ideas? Should we start another thread for this?

What I want to see most is the legends of Bitcoin forums and Bitcoin stories, character interviews, and technical explanations. The videos are helpful for understanding.

People from all over the world can only use English as their main communication language.

I have another idea. The administrator can specify a theme, and everyone can make the video by themselves, and finally vote for the best work.
This can increase interaction.

Maybe my idea is relatively simple Grin:
  • You can post a post about what interesting things happened when using Bitcoin, let everyone tell the story of him and Bitcoin, find some actors to perform high-quality stories,
  • Just use an animated video to introduce Bitcoin. There are many people who don't understand Bitcoin. What we have to do is not to attract fans, but to attract more people.
  • You can participate in the award-winning question and answer through the video, and ask questions at the end of the video, so that friends can actively comment and participate in the answer.

That would be great, probably one of the better channel out there for technology related content. Would be great if we could focus on the technology related to Bitcoin without actually endorsing certain products/companies like you mentioned.

Yeah, I think collectively we could probably come up with a unique format of a Bitcoin related game show. I think the creation process of this would be just as fun as being in the game show.

some mentioned that it has to be forum specific - i disagree. the name says bitcointalk, out of all the suggestions i think interviews are the best fit and maybe sprinkle in some other ideas in from time to time. but the main focus should be on the "talking about bitcoin" - just my 2 sats

I like the idea of having a bitcointalk YouTube channel. But, I want to focus on this:
I don't particularly like doing a MrBeast-like video related to bitcoin because this'll make bitcoin giveaways look legitimate and will indirectly cause gullible people to fall for other scam giveaways on the assumption they are real.

There's lots of scams in YouTube. LOTS OF THEM. If you search for bitcoin giveaways, you'll get tons of clickbaits & obviously not yet confirmed scams. I'm in disagreement for having giveaways through our videos and that is why.

I'm very okay on having interviews, users' awards or any other smart subject, but it has to be different than the traditional social media's cryptocurrency content. In a nutshell, it has to be high-quality. You should use the forum funds for achieving it which exceed normal budgets by far.

Like I said previously, there's a way to mitigate this through notifications. After all, we can't possibly spoon feed everyone, otherwise the interviews, and podcasts would have to be censored in fear of spreading misinformation, but that isn't the reality. I'd like to think that people are more inclined to research a shady looking Youtube video, than believing something just because their favourite infulencer said x is good. I mean, you only have to look at so called privacy conscious Youtube channels promoting VPNs which are no where near privacy conscious.

Or perhaps you can link them to this thread in all the video descriptions now that it has a big ol' sticky on it: [EDU] Easy 3 step process to report YouTube videos and scam websites to Google! maybe with a link text like "AVOID GETTING SCAMMED - HOW TO REPORT FAKE GIVEAWAYS TO YOUTUBE" Cheesy

If it's a channel that talks about bitcoin, then what distinguishes it from all the other channels dedicated to that?  There are tons of them.  What there isn't is one that focuses on the forum, and I think that's what's needed overall.  Many people hold bitcointalk in high esteem and would subscribe to such a channel in a heartbeat.  That's not to say bitcoin topics couldn't be discussed, but I think the main focus should be on the forum itself.

I'm very okay on having interviews, users' awards or any other smart subject, but it has to be different than the traditional social media's cryptocurrency content. In a nutshell, it has to be high-quality. You should use the forum funds for achieving it which exceed normal budgets by far.
There are lots of high-quality channels on Youtube, but from what I've seen they all follow a cookie-cutter approach, starting with an intro followed by a few seconds of annoying music, followed by "be sure to subscribe and smash that like button for more new videos, blah blah blah" and then 12 minutes of content following Youtube's strict monetization policies to the letter.  I've seen this format followed in dozens upon dozens of videos, if not hundreds.  I'd like it if bitcointalk's channel didn't do that, simply because I find it extremely annoying.

Also, on another note: For an upcoming video segment that's going to be filmed tomorrow (surprise!), we're going to read out loud a list of usernames we've all probably read in our inside voice wrong the whole time!
Got any ideas? Should we start another thread for this?

I’d toss it out there that my username is pronounced like aug-nasty not O.G. Nasty like some of the kids on this forum like to say.  Cheesy  It has led to some funny accusations and confusion in the past. I think a lot of people probably pronounce Casascius wrong as well. I know I did for many years.

I guess they follow an approach which has been proven to work over, and over again. Youtube videos have definitely evolved over time though. For example, Youtube videos of today are much more higher quality production wise, than they were before. In fact, to start off on Youtube now, you are pretty much already expected to have a decent amount of experience video editing, and being used to public speaking or at least speaking to an audience. Back 10 years ago, you didn't need anything, but a way of recording yourself or your screen with a legible mic. Hence why Cyrus probably opted for a professional company to handle the recording side of things.

Yes they have, but to my eyes over time all the "professional Youtubers" are starting to look generic.  Many people follow these so-called influencers (and I fuckin' hate that term) because they perceive said influencers to be down-to-earth people, as opposed to bona fide celebrities or mainstream media talking heads.  The truth is that those Youtubers are selling a fake image of themselves and are shilling products to no end--just like everyone else on TV or in movies--so what's the difference?

Youtube videos have definitely evolved over time though. For example, Youtube videos of today are much more higher quality production wise, than they were before.
This is true, but I don't equate higher quality editing or video production with higher quality content.  In fact, I can't stand that standard hyper-editing that makes people sound like they're not even breathing while they speak.

In fact, to start off on Youtube now, you are pretty much already expected to have a decent amount of experience video editing, and being used to public speaking or at least speaking to an audience.
Youtubers don't have to have any ability for public speaking.  They have to be able to speak in front of a camera, and there's a big difference.  What they have to be most proficient at is selling themselves, and it certainly doesn't hurt if they're good-looking.  And again, how is that different than the average celebrity?

Smash that like button and hit subscribe for more content <followed by profuse gratitude expressed to subscribers> and a thumbnail with the video creator [with hands covering eyes/hands on side of face/looking confused/angry/whatever].  Over and over.  I do hope the bitcointalk channel doesn't end up being molded from the same cookie-cutter pattern.

When we are talking about most mainstream Youtubers, its almost always a persona. Some openly admit that they are different off camera too.

This is true, but I don't equate higher quality editing or video production with higher quality content.  In fact, I can't stand that standard hyper-editing that makes people sound like they're not even breathing while they speak.
Depends on what it is, no doubt a production can sometimes attract more viewers. Its why movies with high production value, tend to have a better viewership. We are attracted by what is pretty. Okay, definitely when it comes to Youtube there can  be over produced productions, but generally a little wow factor keeps viewers interested.

Youtubers don't have to have any ability for public speaking.  They have to be able to speak in front of a camera, and there's a big difference.  What they have to be most proficient at is selling themselves, and it certainly doesn't hurt if they're good-looking.  And again, how is that different than the average celebrity?
You're probably correct here, although I did relate public speaking to talking to a camera, they are probably very different. Depending on the person, either could be argued to be more difficult than the other. Its definitely a skill being able to talk to basically no one at the time, but at a camera. Although, when we come back to the Bitcointalk Youtube channel, interviews will be a little bit of both, alright not quite public, but there's a number of skills needed there.

Yeah, this is definitely overused. At this point, viewers know how to use Youtube, and know how to support the creators. Thumbnails unfortunately are part of the business, you need to create something that intrigues enough for a click, and then you need to hook them within the first few seconds. The cookie cutter pattern as you put it, exists because that's whats proven to be effective. Now, I don't expect this Youtube channel to be at all cookie cutter, though. A channel about Bitcoin will definitely be more niche, and there won't be the stupid clickbait thumbnails that we've become accustomed too.

Will there be face reveals? I think that's some sort of tradition in the platform but hey, you can stay anonymous. I hope that your talk would also be discussing things outside of what's been talked about in this forum already or probably you can introduce new people to the forum and become their personal guide to the forum, this will help introduce potential users that will help grow the forum much more.

Dont know if it was mentioned before but i would love to see also maybe some tutorials how the Forum is working , would be informative and specially for new Users maybe helpful.
It sure would. A video for newbies on how to post and take part in discussions and what not to do. Things like multiquoting, quoting the OP, quoting pictures, posting unnecessarily large pictures, etc. I know I would be interested in learning more about tables and table layouts because they can be a real nightmare. I have seen it myself.

You could talk about bbcodes. I would be interested in seeing a video about the feature where you click on a hyperlink and it takes you to that part of the thread where that is discussed. Things like that, which aren't known to everyone.

One suggestion is that youtube video should be made with instruction what to do when you try to register in forum and you receive Evil Fee proxy ban warning,
and that short (one or two minutes long) explanatory video link should be in the message that new proxy banned users receive.
If possible, video should also include some of the members profiles that have the power to remove this ban.
