Undefeated means nothing they are putting him up against one of the best boxers of our time Cancelo. I think this will be a early finish and is a pay day for Cancelo. I would like to see Cancelo creating a legacy instead of fighting prospects that do not deserve to fight him.

Canelo will be an overwhelming favorite here, but Bivol will likely make money here.

Bivol will probably not earn that much because the contract will be in the favor of Cancelo. He will demand more than 50% of the contract money because he is giving a chance to Bivol. When Cancelo wins Bivol will be left with only a slither of the money he would get if he beat Cancelo. Boxing is rigged for the popular fighters to always earn the money while challengers do not get much.

Canelo Alvarez is only in his prime now, it's not good to doubt him as he is very strong and he can defeat anyone who will be in front of him. These boxers have faced him and will face him and lack of experience so they can't beat a more experienced and stronger fighter.

Canelo should pick a fighter that has almost beat him, and I think in any of his fights, triple G is always inserted in the discussion.

That was a draw, maybe you call that almost but Canelo won in the rematch, so that fight is over.

Gennadiy Golovkin has not fought this year yet, but if he will be given a chance for a Trilogy, then I guess it will be interesting and we will see the fans from both sides supporting their favorite fighter.

I agree with you, but we have not seen a fight of Canelo Alvarez that we thought it's a 50/50 chance from both sides, the most competitive fight he has was between GGG and everyone would want to see that, at least one more chance before GGG will retire.

I don't know who this Bivol is but I agree that he should give GGG the third match because that's what fans want and they are both going to make money, they should let this fight happen because the second fight is not really conclusive, if he thought that he is better than GGG then take the fight and knock him out, not fighting and giving unknown fighters a chance to make huge money.

If he fights Caleb Plant and then his belt, then he can go as high as light heavy weight again. Maybe he can defend his belt against David Benavidez who will be fighting against Uzcategui on Aug 28.

The thread should be close because it will not materialize, Plant should take yes on all of Canelo's demands he is the challenger he can do the same if he beats Canelo, Canelo is the superstar here and holds the majority of the title, although Plant is also the champion it's a fact that Canelo is the one that will attract more money on this fight, he takes this fight beat him and then he can command big fights on his next fights and he will line himself as one of the best.

Lol, they have second thoughts on fighting Bivol because of weight issue. Canelo is hesitant to move up in weight as LHW is not his comfort zone.

Fighting Plant would fulfill their goal of unifying his current division but as per Plant statement, he is not willing to be the guy to make Canelo the undisputed champion of the Super Middleweight division  .

Anyways, this speculated fight may not happen this September 18 because of different issues so i will be locking this one and reopen if the negotiations start once again.

Great update, and a great fight for Canelo this year.

Another boxer that is undefeated might suffer a defeat at the hands of Canelo.
his fights this year were all good, hopefully, this is a more exciting one, and that he will not just easily dominate Caleb Plant.

I like the fight but I don't like they to be in a catchweight, Canelo has fought once in LHW already defeating Kovalev. Although they have admitted that he won't be fighting at LHW and obviously goes down to 168 as his home weight. However, Bivol is the champion in LHW, so for Canelo to be really called LHW champion he needs to go back up again to 175 lbs so that there will be no excuses or arguments if he beats Bivol.

Imagine if Bivol agrees to fight at near 168, I think his chance is extremely slim. I've read Bivol's record and found it unimpressive. Only 18 wins with boxers who their name I've never heard. Bivol's hope only if Canelo agrees to fight at 175, betting that he won't be in his optimum condition to fight.

He fought different fighters already, even a taller and bigger fight but we can still see how he dominated the fight. Caleb Plant is perfect on his record, but his KO rate is very low, so I would assume that he is not a heavy hitter and he needs to win in points and don't allow Canelo to hurt him if he want to have chances on judges scorecards.

Why did Bivol's name suddenly surface as Canelo's possible next opponent? Is there nobody else who's got the skills and power that would probably match that of Canelo's? Bivol has a nice record more or less but it seems he's too unexperienced for Canelo. Although the fighter's knock-out record is not that bad, it is not impressive either, having his last 5 wins all by way of unanimous decision.

I would have really loved to see a fight between Canelo and Caleb being that Caleb has a championship belt that Canelo wants to make history as the as the first undisputed super middleweight champion in the IBF, but since negotiations have fallen out, i guess this fight with Bivol will suffice even though just reputation and not their championship belts will be at stake.

Just as you said, Canelo is a favourite for the fight against Bivol, his morale is really high from his last three fights agains Callum Smith, Avni Yildirim, and Billy Joe Saunders. I hope Bivol can match his momentum.

I know its different sports but Adesanya experienced his first loss when he fight Jan Błachowicz who is an LHW. It's not a very comfortable weight division when your normal built is not a huge man from the beginning.

This is very interesting match, a world championships with four weight class vs undefeated boxer.

I don't think Canelo will have trouble against Caleb due to different weight, because he's on fire and want to show his perform. Caleb plant's boxing style mostly multiple attack with his jab and hook, while Canelo's style is counter punchers. I've seen Caleb play defensive very good, but Canelo defensive and dodging skills is on another level when he fight with Daniel Jacobs.

He doesn't need to prove anything more, he is the p4p top one in my book. This is just icing in the cake for this career. Unifying the belts and then chasing more champions in the light heavyweight. He is the cash cow, so no doubt that those champions like Bivol and Beterbiev are willing to be a dancing partner of Canelo in the future. And once he get those belts, he will go down in 168 lbs, as this is more of his weight class.

The fight is back on. My opinion has still not changed. Canelo is many levels above Caleb Plant and I see him winning comfortably. This would be a historic win for Canelo because he would become the first undisputed champion from Mexico.
