I'm already convinced that Canelo will also become a legend, he is beating fighters now in his division, and he is winning in a very convincing manager. A boxer who is in his prime should face a boxer that is also in his prime for us to see a great fight, and with the opponents of Canelo now and in the past, I have not seen anyone yet who can give him a tough challenge.

He is already a legend in my opinion, he has beaten a lot of good fighters, potential HOF like Miguel Cotto and GGG and other good boxers like Kovalev, Daniel Jacobs, Lara and Kirland. But cleaning up the 160 lbs and then becoming the undisputed champion, holding all the major belts will just boost his legacy even higher. And his name will be in the discussion for the best 168 lbs who ever grace the boxing gloves.

I don't know, but for me, Caleb's chances might be 10% or less. Yes, Canelo is so much in focus of this fight and most probably grinding hard because it is for the record after all. Undisputed champion, and beat the hell out of everyone in this division, and the think it, many said that Billy Joe Saunders will have a good chance, but look at what he did, he totally destroyed Billy Joe and sent him to the hospital. So the chance of Canelo being upset here is near zero.
I tend to agree because Billy Joe was a good boxer but he still lose against Alvarez, so I feel it will be going a same result with this fight too. Both of boxer are training hard to win, Plant's need do more hard work twice or triple times than Alvarez if he want to win. As been said this is will be the biggest fight so far, I hope they're have fun on the ring.

Canela has been destroying anyone that comes in his ways. The perfect example of this is his fight against Billy. People thought that that might be an even soft fight and look what he has done to Billy. Caleb is clearly the underdog here and upsetting Canela right now is tougher than ever. Maybe 10 to 15% chance but no more than that.

For me the biggest test is GGG, it might be controversial on how both fight ends, but Canelo taking GGG's best shot and didn't even flitch, it's a sign that Canelo could destroy anyone in the 160-168 lbs. And he did, BJS is another classic example. The Brit is a natural super MW but Canelo beat him badly. So it's hard to think that Caleb Plant has a chance, highly unlikely that he can beat Canelo at his best weight class and this record of form and style of Alvarez.

As we can see on the betting odds, we know that the chance of Plant to upset Canelo is very low, I don't even see this going to distance if Plant is willing to engage and would try to KO Canelo. Plant being undefeated doesn't help him look good in this fight, in fact, people still think that this is an easy fight for Canelo.

I think the sole negative point will be his lost to Floyd, yes, he not giving a trilogy and waiting for GGG to age 40+ before accepting the fight will also be negative, but Floyd lamented the same, he is undefeated but still people will always find a way to bash his records for not facing a particular fighter during their primes, like the Pacquiao fight. Although he defeated Manny, but many will argue that Floyd should have face him when Manny was destroying everyone. Floyd fought Manny when he just come from a Marquez knock out. But in any case, a huge payday for the trilogy fight and even if GGG is 40++ by that time, he would accept it in a heart beat, but I don't expect it to be competitive as the the first two fights.

Canelo's loss to Floyd happened in 2013, when he was a clear underdog. But that was not the case in 2017 (Canelo vs GGG) and 2018 (Canelo vs GGG2). Also, in both the fights against GGG there were accusations about biased scoring. So the natural thing for Canelo to do was to accept the challenge from GGG and agree to a trilogy fight. But he refused to do that, which further emboldened the claim that his victory in 2018 was not clean. Maybe after 10 years, after he retire from professional boxing, Canelo may regret about it.

Agree with that, and Canelo is still young, meaning he still has more fights to come that will add to his legacy. It looks like he is the most unbeatable fighter now because he is dominating in his division and anyone who likes to block his way gets easily eliminated.

That's for sure as everyone knows the name CANELO in boxing.

And that will remain like that for the next 8-10 years at least. Not a big fan of Canelo Álvarez, but I have to admit that at this age (31 yrs) he has achieved more than almost any other professional boxer of recent times have achieved at a similar age. And he has a decade of professional boxing left in him, given that he maintains his fitness levels and stay out of injuries. I don't expect him to keep boxing until the 40s, like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Professional boxing is stressful and requires enormous effort. At some point he'll get tired of all this and may consider retirement.

Canelo still has a lot of time to prove that he can achieve more, Manny Pacquiao was still a champion at 40, so I don't think Canelo cannot achieve that if he will continue to take care of his body. Canelo is a type of boxer that never gets tired, he just wants to collect more cash as this is gonna be his 3rd fight this year alone.

After he beats Plant I don't see any more big opposition on his current weight category, Andrade, the Charlo brothers I don't think they can equal Canelo's speed and power and ring generalship, he is very successful inside and outside the ring, his being out of contracts from big promotions has made it possible to fight the best fighters, something we cannot see in the lower division where fights are made in house.

I agree but we don't know if he's still in his shape in the next 5 years.

At his current age, we can still say that he is still on post-prime that's why we see him still at his best. Right now, it's a blessing for us to see him fighting continuously this year and I hope next year.

But we shouldn't look down on Caleb Plant. I consider him as a tough match for Canelo.

canelo is obviously the heavy favourite here by the bookies. wondering if there are bettors here that will place bet on caleb. and i am assuming, they will bet on caleb for the reason that odds are great, which can possibly give good payout at the end of the day.
but if canelo wins, he will further boost his value in boxing. at least see other interesting boxers in this gen once older ones like pacquiao retires.

Canelo is the obvious favorite here, but I don't see very heavy odds in his favor. Plant is still being given odds of +500 to +600 (Canelo is at -1000), which looks good IMO. The odds suggest that many of the sportsbooks believe that there is a (small) chance of upset. And I am sure that considerable number of people are going to make bets in favor of Plant. But it will be interesting to see in which direction the odds are going to move. The higher probability is that they will improve for Plant. By November, I expect the odds to be around +400.

BTW, odds for a draw is +2500. Looks attractive for me.

Canelo is the obvious favorite here, but I don't see very heavy odds in his favor.

In Canelos previous fight against Billy Joe Saunders the odds were also "not very heavy in his favor". People also believed that Saunders can compete with Canelo on the same level, but the ref stopped Sauders beating. In my opinion, Sauders is stronger than Plant. Miracle wont happen this time. I see Canelo vs Plant fight follows same scenario and will end in 7-9 round.

I would not be surprised if he still continues to dominate for the next 5 years, if you look the way he fights, he is like an oiled machine that would not be tired in the 12 rounds, and not only that, he doesn't throw his punch without an aim, he is always on point and you can see how the quality of punches landed to his opponent, good example on that is on how he slowly destroy Billy Joe Saunders.

But we shouldn't look down on Caleb Plant. I consider him as a tough match for Canelo.

I don't expect him to lose his shape and aggressiveness in the ring, well, I am not underestimating Caleb Plant as I know he also has power, and being an undefeated fighter, he should be respected. However, with the skills of Canelo, I don't really think he can beat him with his present style, I guess he should look at the weakness of Canelo which no one had found it yet.

canelo is obviously the heavy favourite here by the bookies. wondering if there are bettors here that will place bet on caleb. and i am assuming, they will bet on caleb for the reason that odds are great, which can possibly give good payout at the end of the day.
but if canelo wins, he will further boost his value in boxing. at least see other interesting boxers in this gen once older ones like pacquiao retires.

Bookies are doing their best to bring bettors into this fight, Plant @ 5.60 and Alvarez @ 1.09, really showing that the heavy favorite is still Canelo and for those risk takers Plant's odd is decent if upset happens.

Still have lots time and we may see adjustment depending on how the movements from bettors demands.

I see only  small chance of upset since the preparation is long enough for Alvarez to learn more about the strategy and fighting skills of Plant. Let's wait and witness how things will end from this upcoming fight.

It's hard to believe that Canelo will struggle in this fight because all his fights after the Gennadiy Golovkin were all won by either TKO or UD. This is a statement that Canelo is on a different level while his opponent although has a good record is inferior to him.

Canelo has never distinguished himself as a trash talker, he just prepares himself to the best of his ability and then he gives his best in the fight, so it is natural that Caleb is the one that feels the need to begin to talk and try to get the public on his side with all kind of remarks about the fight, but at the end of the day it does not matter, what matters is what you can do above the ring and I think Canelo is going to easily win this fight.

LOL.. if Caleb was thinking that he'll get the public on his side with all the trash talk, then from the previous experience I have to say that he's wrong. Earlier he had some support from the fans, naturally because he's the underdog. But many of them would be repelled by the provocations from his side. That said, I don't know whether I should directly blame Caleb. Perhaps there is a chance that the organizers asked him to do that, in order to get some cheap publicity for the fight (I won't be surprised if that is true).
If that is what they have been telling to Caleb then this is a huge mistake, it is obvious Canelo is going to have a lot of support from the public because as I said he carries himself in a respectful way, but there are many others that will dislike him simply because he is winning with such ease, so the only thing that Caleb needed to do was to embrace his status as the underdog and he would have gotten even more support, after all who does not like an underdog story? But I think he is shooting himself on the foot if his trash talking is actually being used to try to gather support for himself.

Yes, it's really a bad move by Caleb to make his way to the fight and trash talk Canelo. He will pay dearly for it, Canelo doesn't talk but maybe deep inside he will surely aiming for the head and knock out Caleb if it presents itself. Caleb on the other hard is making himself into a deep position because how can you trash talk a fighter wherein he is destroying everyone in the path? And Caleb will not gather any support from the public, on the contrary he could be hated for this for the rest of his boxing career.
Canelo is an extremely disciplined fighter, he doesn't seem to be the kind of person that is going to let those provocations take him out of his game, but at the same time I think he's going to remember and when he's above that ring he's going to try to punish him for talking so much, so I think instead of going for the knockout immediately he's probably going to punch him on the body over and over again so he doesn't forget who is he fighting against and that Canelo is not someone that you take lightly.

He does his talking in the ring, that's what I admire so much about him. His opponent can talk trash about him but he will just continue training, focus on his game plan and during the fight night, he will do his usual job, which is to destroy an opponent. Caleb Plant better be aggressive inside too, not just talk trash outside trying to play mind games.
