I don't think he Spence is avoiding Crawford. Maybe it make sense to get the belt from Ugas first and then go after Crawford for the unification bout in mid or late 2022 that will put a lot of money in the table. Maybe Crawford can fight Thurman too if "One Time", can get over Barrios this February. So there's a lot of options still open for Crawford while waiting for Spence.

Or the schedule doesn't match the two, Crawford just won against Porter and then Spence trying to make a comeback so it's better for him to fight Ugas first as Crawford might not be available the soonest.

So once Spence take care of Ugas then maybe they sit down and talk. Forget about Thurman, he is not that active so he needs to climb back in the rankings. And he is fighting an overblown 140 lbs ex-champion so it doesn't really count.

Will see but I still consider Thurman a huge threat. He only loses once and we are counting him out already, I'm sure Thurman will win in his upcoming fight and Spence ( if he wins against Ugas) and Crawford should be ready as Thurman is not a leftover as some of you are thinking.

There are speculations we might not see Terence Crawford fight on 2022. We might only see him fight on 2023 versus the winner of Thurman-Barrios. It would be very disappointing not to witness the 2 kings of welterweight fight hehe.

This is an interview in Teddy Atlas’ podcast with Dana White. They talk about the problems in the sport of boxing and the organizations.

For me Thurman is a great boxer, really for an athlete like him, I would not take into account the times he lost, he is one of those few boxers who only lose when they are careless and do not train enough, in the next match, I think that the statistics will not favor him, I think they have underestimated him a lot, and that is not good, because the surprises he can give are the least expected, I think I would go for him despite what others think.

I trained boxing at one time, and to be honest before a fight the thing that determines the most that he can win is if the training is hard enough.

That will be very disappointing if Crawford will sit the rest of 2022 for unknown reason. But it will be very uncanny for him as he wanted to be the best welterweight and in order to get to that, he needs to fight Spence or Thurman or even Ugas to be considered the goat of 147 lbs.

He can even go back to 140 lbs and fight the unified champion in Josh Taylor and win in my opinion.

So there's a lot of options for him not to miss 2022 though.

But Thurman winning against a weak opponent in Barrios will put his name again. He was once considered the best in welterweight, until he gets injured and then beaten by Manny.

And yet all roads goes to Crawford or Spence, but it was the first time I've heard that Crawford is not going to fight in 2022? Is it because of contractual issues? I thought he didn't re-sign his contract with Bob Arum after his last fight with Top Rank. So he should be clear to fight anyone in 2022.

Is the Josh Taylor vs Terrence Crawford confirmed already or just another speculation? Because that will be huge fight next year. Crawford was once the king of 140 lbs until he move up to the welterweight division because that's where the money is. And now seeing that he is going down (I believed that he can still make the 140 lbs with ease), then it will be his second tenure at 140 lbs if ever he beats the current undisputed Josh Taylor.

I think it's just speculation, for now, there's no official announcement yet that these two will fight, otherwise there's already a thread we will see on this particular fight. That would be a great fight, it's the fight between two undefeated fighters but I'd still bet on Crawford no matter what.

I think this fight came from the mouth of Bob Arum when he says that it's better for Crawford to go down to 140 lbs again and fight Josh Taylor, well that's sounds to be good to be true specially that Bob doesn't promote Crawford anymore. Of course who wouldn't want to see this fight but I doubt that Crawford is going to do it because Josh is not a name fighter in the US. Big fight for Crawford is still Spence at 147 lbs.

Oh ok thanks for the confirmation, I also think that this is just pure speculation because as you have said, there is no noise about this fight. If this is going to happen, at least for now we might have heard news about it. It will really be a great fight indeed, and I will also go with Crawford in this fight. Taylor is technically sound fighter no doubt, but I think Crawford's experience and boxing IQ is just above anyone else in the 140-147 weight class.

It's more of a suggestion because Arum has no control now over who Crawford wants to face, it's not a bigger fight compared to the Spence fight, Taylor will be an underdog here, on the Spence fight, both fighters are very much even and they can finally resolve who really is the welterweight king I hope to see them negotiating and make this fight happen this 2022, both fighters are claiming they are the king and the other is ducking.

Yeah, and since that he no longer has managerial control of Crawford now, maybe he is voicing on what "he could have done" if he still has Spence in his stable.

Maybe after he faces Spence and win the fight just maybe he can entertain that kind of fight.

But even if he wins against Spence there are still a lot of good challenges in teh 147 lbs and that going back to 140 lbs might be a bad idea for him in the end.

I'm surprised to see this Josh Taylor is a good and a versatile boxer but Crawford is just too much for him, the one fight Crawford should go for and fans want to see is the Spence fight, this is a mega fight and a legacy fight, there's even a possibility that they can do a trilogy, both fighters are very even in speed, power and ring generalship, Josh Taylor will be an underdog if the fight with Crawford push through.

Spence will fight Ugas, and Crawford will fight Taylor. If both of them will win then they might set up this big unification fight and everyone will be excited about that. So who do you think is the favorite if a Spence vs Crawford fight will eventually happen in the future?

I guess the odds will be like 1.90 both. If one will be a favorite, it will be a slight favorite so it doesn't matter since we are just be getting 1.85 to 1.90 anyway. Bookies will make money regardless, that 10% juice is huge enough considering big flow of money will come as it's probably the biggest fight if it will happen this year.

Here's a great variant, most people are now calling Ugas the winner, and yes, they say so because of his resounding victories against many of the boxers who have fought with him, but I think these statistics could change drastically if Spence does. He is not just any boxer who decides to give Ugas a good beating, the last fight of UGAS did show that he has great potential, however he would not trust me, he has gained a lot of popularity and experience, I think that between UGAS and Spence I am not sure Who's the best.

{..snip..}

I trained in boxing at one time, and to be honest, before a fight the thing that determines the most that he can win is if the training is hard enough.

Thurman is an aggressive player when he's on the ring and his movements are unpredictable which I think is an edge over his opponents. Many might underestimate him but we can't deny that he's always well prepared during each match so I guess the next match would be favorable for him.

It appears the truth has come out on why Terence Crawford has made his decision to leave Bob Arum and Top Rank boxing. This reason might also not be on Bob Arum’s racism towards black fighters, I reckon hehe. The real reason might be that highlighted quote in yellow. Crawford wanted to fight Errol Spence in a superfight, however, this was never offered to him under Arum and this might never be offered to him as a free agent.

Welterweight champion Terence Crawford filed a lawsuit Wednesday against his former promoter Top Rank in Nevada, alleging racial bias on the part of the company's chairman, Bob Arum.

The suit alleges that the 90-year-old Arum "continues to make racist and bigoted statements and purposefully damage the reputations of Black boxers."

The suit also claims that "Arum's sordid history with athletes of color, especially Black fighters, and his bias favoring white and Latino fighters is well-documented and known throughout the boxing world," and that "Arum makes no secret of his deep-seated bias against Black fighters."

Crawford, 34, is seeking damages to be determined at trial in excess of $5.4 million, money the fighter claims he lost due to Top Rank's failure to deliver a second fight in year two of the extension he signed in 2018, along with its inability to offer him a bout with Errol Spence Jr.

Speaking of Ugas vs Spence, I'm not a big fan of fights, actually I don't know how people still think that fights can be considered a sport, but every now and then I see boxing and MMA and other fights, I only see them out of curiosity, these days I've seen video of this Ugas vs Spence, it wasn't a fight between the two, it was just a summary of the fights that the two had against other opponents, your post reminded me of this video because the guy who made the video just posted more videos of Ugas fights to try convincing that Ugas is better than Spence, this shows that there is a great interest in this fight between the two, at least on the fan side Is what I perceive. but just watching the summary of the videos I'm convinced that maybe Ugas will win this fight, as I realized this guy Spence had an eye injury 1 year ago, this could be a disadvantage for him

Truth if proven true. Bob Arum's camp surely has a counter to that case.

For now, at least we hear both sides' story but the fact should always be associated with solid proof and not just accusations.

Bob Arum won't reach his status today if he's shit all the way. Others might not like him but this old man knows how to play the game. I'm hoping though that Crawford will get what he wanted.
