Presently, Putin is one of the major reasons the Epstein/Israel-style banking systems have not conquered the whole world. How many more Ukrainian souls do you think crap posts like this can get to the front lines? You seriously peddling hope for Ukrainians when oil is at $100 and US got itself into another quagmire in Iran? Diesel engines can run on sunflower seed oil without anything other than filtering. I gotta buy land and grow sunflowers.

Forget big oil. When it crashes, it will take the banking systems along with it. But we don't care. All we need to do is adjust to living off the land.

If you are planning to use 'SVO', I would suggest very old diesel engine designs and plan on a much more rigorous maintenance regime.  Have lots of commonly used spare parts as well.

but never got around to actually making it work.  Not long after that it became much more difficult to get them into the U.S. (and I suspect many other 'developed' countries.)

I would be careful about bold claims about what will and what won't work without actual long term hands-on experience.  In my research, just powering an expeller for oil collection sucked up like 30% of the product when it came to seed oils.  Best I could see at the time, and for the environment I was in, would probably have been Chinese tallow tree.

As I understand things, some of the European countries are doing surprisingly well with biodiesel and rape seed oil so it is possible for that to make a difference, but I strongly suspect that they are making the most of doing things at scale and on a small farm basis I have my doubts (unless it's a hobby and one has money to burn.)  I have seen personally that in select areas of Borneo where palm oil plantations are a thing, regional areas are pretty self sufficient with it.
