The host Qatar lost 2-0 against Ecuador in their first match. Elen Valencia was pretty good and carried her team in terms of score. I liked his 2nd goal very much, he sent the ball with his head into a very dead spot, Valencia is a really experienced striker. I met him in Fenerbahçe in the Turkish league this year, he is a striker who scored a lot of goals in the league, I was expecting that he would definitely score in this match, I can say that he made an extra contribution with two points. In addition, the fouls committed by the Qatar team caught my attention in the match, they have four yellow cards.

Qatar's performance was bad, although they sort of improved in the late second half, trying to get good recoveries on loosed ball but, that ain't enough to get them back into the match (A friend said, they were more focused on preparing the arenas for the world cup and not doing much on there team, lol).
Anyway, Qatar isn't a footballing nation and we shouldn't be expecting much of them but they should have gotten a consolation goal at least. They came quite close from a through ball to Mohammed Muntari but, it was over the cross bar.

Qatar was too weak against Ecuador who should have played aggressively as the hosts, but unfortunately Mohammed Muntari came on in the 72nd minute to replace Almoez Ali.
and Almoez Ali previously had two chances but it's a shame he didn't look eager to play, he should have had the passion to pick up the ball when it was passed in front of the Ecuador goal.
and I think if Muhammad Muntari was on the pitch from the start he would have scored, and I hope the hosts have a change in the next match and the next opponent will be Sanegal.

I understand why you say that, and I think you are right that it will be very difficult for Qatar to win the group stage match if they perform like they did today. Not many people have to be convinced about Qatar especially if they want to win something at gambling, they are very unconvincing today. I only watched the first half, there was nothing to hope for other than an Ecuador win.

Exactly with this poor gameplay and mistakes it’s impossible to even get a point in the next two games they have, and the interesting things is Qatar is the first country to lose the opening match as a host for the World Cup in history. Ecuador played well i must say and secured an easy win

Actually Qatar did not play well knowing that this is an opening of matches, and in a normal circumstances they should be looking up to draw in the match, because as you narrated it, it's noted that Qatar is the first in history that did not score at least one goal in opening of world cup if I'm not mistaken, i believe that the country should go and restrategies their team, because their performance was extremely poor, which i noticed what Ecuador play in performance.

Qatar did nothing in today's game. They couldn't control the ball and they are lucky that Ecuador didn't humiliate them with more goals. I hope that this is the last time that FIFA gave the World Cup to a country that doesn't play football.

Everybody knows that if they don't host the tournament they couldn't make it through Asia qualifiers. Qatar played so bad that they don't even have any shot on goal. Enner Valencia scored double goal again just like their previous meet four years ago. Ecuador got three points but their other matches are more important as I believe every team will beat Qatar. Netherlands and Senegal are better teams than Ecuador so they shouldn't rejoice in advance.

I kept my coupon. Actually, before the tournament started, I thought that Qatar would beat Ecuador, but when I saw what was written here, I gave up and played under 2.5 goals in the match. Only when the goals came in the first half, I was afraid that my coupon would definitely lose, but in the second half there was no sound of the hall. Enner Valencia would have scored the earliest Hatrick in tournament history, but his first goal was not counted due to offside. In the matches to be played tomorrow, Senegal Netherlands match will be over 2.5 goals and I will play against Wales in the USA & Wales match. Good luck everyone.

VAR was efficient for this cancelled goal otherwise we would see 3 goals at least.
I am particularly disappointed from Qatar. At the opposite I was quite sure they won't win but I was expecting a good performance and maybe a draw. Conmebol teams is way better than AFC teams and Ecuador isn't an easy opponent.
Honestly after the first (cancelled) goal in less than 3 minutes, I was like whoah promising! I still don't know why Ecuador dropped and let Qatari made some useless attempts at the end of the first half and in the second half. Qatari players were passing the ball between each other then returning it to the first player without finding a way to progress before ending the cercle they were creating with the ball.
That was a shameful match for them, basically everyone was disappointed with their performance and a catastrophic failure was so close since they didn't receive more goals. They will definitely leave the competition early and I doubt they could score more than 3 goals, I would say even more than 1 but who knows...

The ceremony wasn't matched by the Qatar team performance though, I don't expect them to win the match against Ecuador but seeing that Ecuador isn't much of a big team themselves I thought at least they should have had a goal. Well I hope we see better games in the world cup later on.

It was a nice opening game in the World Cup. Ecuador were highly favoured for the win. They kept the game under control most of the time and got a deserved 2-0 win at the end. E. Valencia was really impressive by scoring two goals. He had a goal disallowed by VAR due to offside as well. Maybe he could have even made a hat-trick if he wasn't replaced by another player in the 77th minute.

Senegal - Netherlands could be an interesting game tomorrow. Netherlands are very highly favoured maybe but who knows maybe Senegal might show a decent performance anyway.

Qatar weren't one of the favorites in Group A, so people shouldn't be surprised about their result. Ecuador played well in this match and was able to win the match with 2 goals. But I think the next 2 Ecuador matches will be tougher, the Netherlands and Senegal will probably be more favored in that match later.

I'll be looking forward to Holland vs Senegal tomorrow. Hard to predict, while England will look very convincing to win their maiden match against Iran. It seems that the Netherlands and England will win their respective matches, but it would be very bad if these two teams both failed to play a good game and failed to gain full points.

This is probably the best World Cup opening ceremony I have ever seen I must be very honest with you, the Qatar citizens really gave us a great show.

Certainly the ceremonies gets better and better with the advancements in the game and today we got to learn a little bit of the desert land. I won't say it was my best but, o would say it was more traditional with a taste of contemporary with came out beautifully. Lots of resources was put onto this and am sure it yield a good result for those who funded. Thank you Qatar.

For the match, it wasn't the most interesting, it lacked tension and there was little aggression in the game. An easy win for Ecuador for sure. Qatar needs to go back to there board and map out all that went wrong with this game as this is supposed to be there easiest game but, they performed so poorly.

This is the opening match for a more interesting match in the next match. Actually I saw a very interesting opening match, but I didn't get that in this match between Qatar and Ecuador. But that's not a problem because there are still matches which will certainly be very interesting, especially if you have entered the knockout phase.
Qatar had to admit Ecuador's superiority by being defeated by a score of 2-0 for Ecuador's victory. Overall Qatar could not provide a very serious threat to the defense of Ecuador. They didn't even have a single shot on target. Indeed there was one moment where they had a chance if only their header could have been directed properly in the last minute of the first half.

I watched on first half and Qatar as home team have under pressure from Ecuador and can't make any attempt yet, actually have advantage at the early minutes for Qatar after E. Valencia goal disallowed at 4th minutes. But Qatar can effective how facing  huge pressure from Ecuador before first goals trough penalty kick.

I have little doubt about the decision of the referee Daniele Orsato in this match when the Qatar goalkeeper committed violation in the penalty box on 16 minutes and only received a yellow card, is it possible that the violations made by the Qatar goalkeeper deserved a red card or only a yellow card.

No one thought that Qatar would win this match. But the match was likely to be a draw. Because Ecuador has drawn in the last few matches. So if Qatar's defenders performed well they could have drawn this match. But Qatar's defenders did not perform well. Their attacking players have been able to make many good attacks. Since Qatar's players are not experienced enough, it was very difficult for them to score in this match. However, even though the Qatarian team lost, they played well. The opening match was enjoyable.

I missed watching the match, but I am just getting to know that Ecuador won against Qatar by 2:0, that's a good one from Ecuador and congratulations to them, but it is rather unfortunate and I am disappointed that Qatar couldn't even secure a goal for themselves even in their own base, Ecuador is not such a great or strong team..
Anyways, it's a good start for Ecuador and let's see how far they get into the game, congratulations to them ones more and good luck to Qatar.

Qatar prepared their team for the opening match, but I didn't see them doing well from the first half. To be honest, a lot of people expected Qatar to win their match against Ecuador, but the fact is they don't seem ready for this match. Qatar's strategy in this match was to focus on defense with a 5-3-2 formation, but in fact the defenders did not perform well and conceded goals. And now, they will not qualify for the next round with a performance like against Ecuador. All the matches that await them will be even tougher.

To be honest I thought the same thing because in the first half  Ecuador won easily so 1-2 goals in the second half are not difficult the fact is there are no more goals
But let's take positive things, maybe they reduce aggressiveness because they think of being on a safe track so that playing is safe to avoid injury to avoid other things
Strategies like this are sometimes needed when they target more important matches ahead.
