The difference is there already, people pay more attention to the league now than they used to and even when Ronaldo joined the league people don’t pay much attention to the entire league but only Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. This season after the transfers made to the league everyone now knows the league will be so competitive and in a few years it might even be compared to the best leagues in the world. This has been the plan from the beginning, the Saudi league officials wants to uplift the standards of the league and I think they have achieved most of their objectives.

The recent attention to the Saudi Arabia leagues is just the beginning of what is ahead to come,  because most of the recent development in most of the clubs from the Saudi leagues have been a long term goal at positioning the league toward making good use of the current opportunities to bring the world attention to that club side.

I do think they still have quite a long road ahead to healthily compete with other top league like the EPL. And a few years might not be enough. They’re getting some new fan base as more people are now watching their leagues, thanks to recent and new signings from European clubs. I still have doubts they would ever get the amount of viewers that’s currently enjoyed by other top leagues.

It's interesting to follow because several well-known players in Europe have joined the Saudi Arabian league team this season, so the fans certainly don't want to miss watching every match played by their idols. They are not stupid enough to don't know about importance of youth players for their clubs, league and national team. Buying star players from other nations, Europe and bringing old star players to Saudi Professional League should be considered as very first bricks for their plan. More than that, they must aim at younger players from Europe and especially grow up local youth players. Chinese Super League never got the sort of players who are participating in the Saudi Professional League right now. Also, the intent was not to increase the global viewership or to make China a global football hub, as the Saudis are planning with their league. Also, the expectations were too high and support from the government lasted for only a short period of time. I am more optimistic about the Saudi Professional League, and I believe that things will turn out different from what happened with China.

When I look at how Al Akhdoud and Al-Ittihad are playing, its hard for me to find a good reason to bet against Al-Ittihad. The fact that they are third in the league says a lot about how they are doing right now. Now, if Im being completely honest, Al Akhdoud seems to be overwhelmed here, given that they're 13th and only beat Al Riyadh once (which, lets be real, isnt the best measure). Putting money on Al Akhdoud is a scary thought. I would be very careful if I were you. The odds look good for Al-Ittihad, but football is always hard to predict. There are always things that arent known, and Al Akhdoud could do something unexpected. But if you look at the numbers, its hard to see anything other than an Al-Ittihad win.
