Maybe I might not totally agree with Trofo's and Igebotz's assertion of all England players being overrated probably due to the exposure and quality of the league in general, I would say there are world class players spread all over the premier league but perhaps at different teams,

What made a world class player is consistency can we say that about any of the English player apart from Harry Kane?

In my opinion the world class "status" can be highly subjective, and is a very complicated adjective to use in football context, and it often doesn't relate directly to a players form for a year or two, but a player can be the best in the world for just a very short period, most times it's about the level (longevity) of consistency of their peak performance and sometimes are attributed to accolades personal or as a team, and I think people don't just fall off from the World Class criteria after they've attained such feat at any level of their career. Everyone would agree that Eden Hazard is (was) world class player right, but he never lived up to that expectation at Real Madrid, let's say due to series of injury problems, but that definitely didn't strip him from being classified as a World Class player right ?, the same thing can be said of Pogba at Juventus who nothing but fell off at Man United, along side Angel Di Maria...

All these 3 players are or were definitely World Class footballers in the sight of any football lover right ?, I'd say YES! but If Di Maria and Pogba's first spell had been at Man United, and Eden Hazard first was at Real Madrid, they'd likely have been classed as nothing but great prospective talents that eventually didn't materialized as people had expected right ?

I wouldn't compared Rashford to Mbappe for some certain reasons and I'm sure Mbappe have proved himself as a world class player definitely right, at country level and what about at club level, he's done some decent numbers too right ? but how terrible a player is Marcus Rashford to not worth the World Class calibre title ? and is Marcus Rashford actually overrated and would rot on the bench in each of the top 6 Ranked National Teams in the world right now namely; ?

6. Netherlands

With the status quo, I won't consider Rashford to be bench warmer in any of the teams listed above and would be a regular starter in more than otherwise, I would say the same for some players like Jack Grealish, Jude Bellingham, Nathan Ake, Mason Mount, Reece James, Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the revolutionized John Stones. I'm not saying all of these players are worthy of the world class status yet, but then all of these players are one of the best in their positions in the world right now, barring any English media sentiment right ?, at least that's my opinion.

If we can all be quick to rate the likes of Vinicius Junior as a world class after just a couple of good spell at Real Madrid, I wonder what Rashford lacks than the opportunity to play under a good coaching environment to be a potential Ballon D'or contender and not just a world class talent.

I'm so sad that I didn't get to watch the Netherlands vs. Croatia game yesterday. From what I read it was an interesting game to watch even though it was a "friendly". I guess in this stage every nation wants a title. Btw, I wanted to watch the highlights and I'm not sure if I'm stupid or what, but YouTube is full of highlights recorded on a Playstation. I even saw one video with Bandicam logo on it... Where do you guys watch the highlights?

I do think Spain will win, and I also think that Italy is the weakest team in the Nations League finals.
Therefore I want them in the final because I do feel that we'd have more chance against them than against Spain.

All that said - Spain isn't great as well - and it wouldn't surprise me if they get to the finals and we beat them as well.

BTW, I believe Croatia is better than Netherlands. Last World Cup Netherlands played like shit, too. Gakpo saved them it's all. The only reason I picked them though is Croatia's 2 best players in my opinion is either not going to play, or missing a lot of form since WC. Real Madrid suffered the most IMO.

I think that the Netherlands team doesn't really suit us. They play fast and aggressive, we will probably control the midfield but that won't be the area where the ball will be.
They will overload our flanks and won't let us calmly build while in possession, and it remains to be seen how much will Modrić and Brozović even play after excruciating seasons that they had.

I do feel we're better than Italy though, who I expect to lose against Spain. I put us in the 3rd spot, but I have to say that neither of these teams really stand out at this point in time. Italy's by far the worst though.

And yet Croatia took the game, of course I can only read about what happened but it appears Netherlands did go on the attack all the time and registered much more chances in the regular match first half, but Croatia did the magic as usual in late stage. 2 goals in AET means they outlast a better opponents.

Credit to everyone who picked Croatia, I still think they were prematch better team but I didn't expect them to go through without their best defender protecting against Netherlands

I wasn't sure what you were getting at, but world-class players adapt to any situation, with the exception of those who were injured and didn't have much time to play. To express it plainly and without bias In the England team, Jack Grealish, Ake, Stone, Jude, Mount, Foden, and Rashford are not world class players yet; they are good players but not consistent enough, and being in one of the best teams does not make one a world class player.

I'm not buying the hype, but Vini isn't a world level player yet; he needs to keep this momentum going for at least 5 seasons to be regarded a world class player in my opinion.

I started the discussion about overrated English players and week midfield but you did not quote my post. If you did you would see that I was talking only about center midfield positions which are reserved for Henderson and Philips type of players under Southgate. I also said in that post that England has one world class strikers and bunch of world class wingers. I would also add that maybe they have the best wingers in the whole world. That includes Rashford as well as others like Saka, Foden... They also have excellent full backs. My only point was week center of midfield and generally heavily overpriced players which is not even up for discussion. You mentioned Stones, I will add Maguire and Sancho to the mix. Those players if they weren't English wouldn't cost more than 30M. Especially Stones and Maguire. If our Guardiol was born English he would not break just defender fee record he would go for prices almost like Neymar or Mbappe.


Great game by Croatia yesterday, Modrić proved his class once again with another maestro performance. I am actually quite disappointed with Netherlands. Their plan B of getting Weghorst in and shifting Van Dijk to attack is pure shit and gets us back 30 years in football. What is worst they will continue to do it since it somewhat worked against Argentina and again yesterday in last minutes of the first half. There was few players from Netherlands that actually impressed me, for instance that guy Geertruida looked very good in defense. Never seen him play before and he was big part of my decision to play both to score on this game. When I have seen line ups with him and Vida in first 11 while Perisić and Dumfries are playing full backs I said to my self there will be goals. In the end they were all very solid in defense but still there were goals

NL not qualifying burned me on a couple of bets, but am not particularly surprised anyway. Spain game no longer has any impact as I'm not doubling down on them, instead, going to look to Afcon qualifiers sprinkling in the weekend Euro qualifiers to see if I can't claw back some wins.

Oops, yeah I missed your full post and I felt Igebotz's quoted response was the main body of your post, however, I've read the full post and I strongly agree with most part of the statement, England probably have one of the best varieties of wingers, some fullbacks too, but they indeed are very subpar when it comes to creative CM, they have more of conventional AM, and then Southgate doesn't even go for the young lad with good prospects, TAA is a much better player than Henderson even in the midfield, I really don't who scouts for Southgate, but there are some younger CMs even from the English Championship clubs that I'd pick over those old and heavy legs he settles for.

Yep, YouTube is swarmed with those fake highlights videos and thanks to YT's ingenious decision to hide number of dislikes, you have to actually waste your time in order to figure out which ones are fakes instead figuring it out immediately.

Maybe some of the straight game predictions should be turned into head to head with more than one or two things to predict(for example: result, goals over/under, cards and corners), so if you get one only thing wrong you won't risk losing it all if you are unluck enough and people that get more things right will get the point they deserve( I honestly think that people that predicted BTTS yes but got the result wrong did better than those who predicted both options wrong).
