Australian Open has started and we will have two questions about it. For the purposes of these questions, we are counting the end of the week 1 to be when play finishes on Sunday 21.01.2024. Forfeits count as regular scores.

I guess that means last chance for Rublev to show that wether he will make it or not huh. I personally think he will make it to the next round but tennis is tricky so that also means last chance on our decider @chi20. I really need that 1 point to survive the relegation so Im going to watch the game to get the hype from it, anyone knows where to stream this though?

So, seems that I already won this round as I have 6 correct answers and my opponent 3 and tennis questions already doesn't matter for me. Sorry @leea-1334, but I I really needed this win to get away from relegation zone.

Damn that AFCON games. I have no idea about nations that are playing the tournament so I went with Ivory Coast to win just like my opponent mv1986. I wouldn't count that as a problem if it weren't for the fact that we have only two different answers. It was a 50-50 choice for me (I don't like going for a draw in games I know nothing about) and I chose wrong

After joining AFCON pool I realised that I know nothing about African football. Ok, I don't follow it that closely, but I didn't expected that I will do so bad. At least we don't have Asian cup pool - after looking at it results, I think I wouldn't do much better there.

Only because of that fact (that it's a women's tennis) I went with the option that two players will be eliminated in the first week. BSFL actually helped me here because I have never followed woman's tennis before and if someone asked me this two years ago, I would have surely said that all five will stay in the competition after one week. Now I just need that all three that are left stay in the tournament so that I get a draw against mv1986.

Man, I think that I have never had only two different answers. It kinda takes the fun out of it when almost all answers are the same.

I think your chances of winning the tennis question are pretty good. But as we have seen so far hiccups seem to happen over and over again in women's tennis. But Gauff, Sabalenka and Swiatek look very strong and the odds so far aren't even worth a parlay hedge bet as they are damn low.

What are the thoughts of our hedge pro @cryptofrka? How would you hedge against Gauff, Sabalenka and Swiatek reaching the second week at the AO? I can't really come up with a good idea for this one. Slackovic can (and probably will) still tie the round I honestly forgot to place the hedge when Pegula played. Couldn't find the time, too bad. That would have made it easier.

I'm really happy for making it to the playoffs by the way.    It felt really awkward when I left this week without making any prediction. I have done some training with my team meanwhile and the players feel themselves ready for the next phase.    They are really excited about the chance of promoting to Division 2 and I will do my best for them also.

All 3 of them are heavy favorites - so you could basically hedge by playing counter handicaps too.

Example - Noskova +6,5 is @2 odds. If Swiatek loses, you win - but at much lower odds.
There's a really good chance Swiatek wins but doesn't cover the handicap so you win both the BSFL point and some money by hedging like this

I'm not that into betting so I'm not sure what you two are talking about. I understand what a hedge bet is (to bet on an opposite result than your previous bet), but I'm not sure how that can help you with BSFL. I'm guessing it can't help you, but can win you some money if an answer is wrong. Do you bet on your answers in BSFL? Like when you submit your answers, do you also place bets on them?

Not the case mate, Iga Swiatek have just been knocked out by Linda Noskova, what a twist!!! I anticipated a less than an hour game after Swiatek took to first set 6-3, but then Noskova have done the unthinkable!

So, I can officially say that it's 3 points for me this round as well!

jayce, thought we were still in it, but seems I'd already won this round yesterday without needing to wait for complicated Sat/Sunday games. I know it's too soon to rest on my laurels but I feel like I'm already in a good position to retain my membership of Div1. If that sounds like a lame target, it is, but it was really difficult to shake off the bad start to the season.

Swiatek out, told you guys, 0-2 was golden. Prematch odds on her to win was 1.02, her opponent over 30/1. Can't imagine what the odds were after she won first set.

Incredible that Swiatek lost after winning the 1st set, the odds were probably over 50. This is my BSFL season in 1 example, like Klopp's Borussia that was dead last in the Bundesliga.
Hopefully I survive like they did, but the less games that there are, the more it will revolve around luck.
