The government can of course play a role in reducing unemployment, the easiest thing the government usually does is invite investors to enter, especially with the presence of the internet which creates many opportunities for employment, and if we have good intentions then we will get a good life.

I don't know about what is government situation in other countries but in my country its quiet easy to survive without any government Job. Our country resources are not so big to be able to give everyone government jobs. If i am not wrong there will be less than 20% who are government servant. This why we do not depend on government jobs and make our own works as a business, farming, labour work or any other skill which gives us daily income. Our country has many public or semi Govt Factories where most citizens prefer to di work there.

Now freelancing gives opportunity to web designer, graphics designer, Programmer and skill master to do work from home and our youth learning skills and i know many person personally they supports himself and his entire family through online work. I myself have no job and i am working online here in Bitcointalk to survive my family and did not faces any trouble yet. Perks are very high in government jobs , like free treatment, tours, house, pention after retirement and many more but still i will say, its easy to survive here without any government Job.

I never want to work under any company or government job, I want to be someone who has his working place and makes money if you are under a boss you should understand what I am talking about. Also who dares open their working place or business if there is no security in the country? A few comments on here look like they are saying the government isn't doing anything, even if the government failed to provide enough jobs, it's way better than not having peace of mind in your home, due to the fear of getting robbed or terrorist attacks.

If your government is still providing the right security then you should be grateful, in some countries, not every family is in the right state of mind because of insecurity and wars.

Op man can make a living without a government job. I believe there are many users here who are unemployed but are still managing their finances well. Whatever we call it, government must play a role in our daily lives.
You can see that the majority of people have been out of high school for one or two years and are still unemployed. Some of them joined the cryptocurrency industry, which is now their main source of income. I have a guy who doesn't even like working for the government; instead, he simply wants to start his own business, which is exactly what he did; as a result, he now owns a firm and has employees.
I've never wanted to wait for the government to hire me, which is one of the reasons I joined bitcoin/cryptocurrency when I finished from high school.

You can do business and search for jobs online without any government referral but without the government's help, you will not be able to do even the work you do on the forum. The government is the one who brings the internet, electricity, daily necessities... and especially security. Without those, I'm sure you wouldn't be able to do anything. So the role of government is huge, I don't want to exaggerate, but without government, we would hardly have the life we have now.

How much percentage government jobs in the whole employment industry? 3% or even less? That being said, it would be crazy if we are expecting our governments to hire us once we finished our degrees. There are not enough vacancies for governments to cater to all people that are looking for jobs. In my country, ordinary people without backing from influential people with links in the government have less to zero chance of getting hired. And these are even happening to some private companies.

Starting a business though is better than just being an employee. Despite being a communist country and being under tough conditions many years ago, Chinese people are business minded rather than being employed. So when China turned into a de facto capitalist country, its economy surged.

The government of course could play a role in the reduction of the unemployment rate in the society. While the sound of investors coming in to invest sounds attracting and easy, the reality is that it’s not. Investors wouldn’t just invest just for the sake of it. Investors parting away with their money would expect profits in return. And if the economy and the society isn’t viable for investments, there will be no one investing anything.

The easiest thing for government to do is to first create a stable environment that has the basic amenities and utilities in place that works. Only then would the environment for economic growth would be created and then, investors would only be too happy to come in to invest.

It is absolutely laziness and foolishness that causes a young man or woman to sit at home doing nothing, after graduating from college, in the name of waiting to be employed by the government, in this current time and age, people should begin to realize that the government can not employ everybody, and as unfortunate as this sounds, it is the simple truth..

There are alot of businesses one can set up even with a very small amount of money, and before you know it, you are already employing workers, staffs, it all boils down to the hunger to do something differently, and the determination not to relent no matter how bumpy the road gets.

Waiting for employment from the government after graduating from School, is one of the reasons why the educated are now the ones working for the uneducated.

Hmm, Government Job? In my country maximum of the young people try to get it almost the case is similar in all countries but the acceptance ratio here is too low because Government has not had much to offer the young generation, County is going through a great crisis it's hard for the Government to handle their own expenses in such critical times how can a young person even expect to get Government Job also there are not many opportunities for the digital skills.

Governments offer old-time jobs such as teaching, Military, Police, and Some other white-collar jobs such as Doctors and pilots etc etc.  This is not good because currently, this is the digital services era and our people are missing it out just because Government is not providing facilities so now a maximum of young people are trying to get out of the country and find some opportunities which are not good for the future economy of Pakistan.

Well, there are also educated illiterates. Some people consider thinking as too hard or too much work or they overthink and that is why they rather just work for one who does know how to think and achieve a well thought out goal/plan.

Anyone who can think out an idea, can make money by sticking to the idea and show courage in achieving that idea, will have workers line up for paychecks, either because they want to learn how he/she did it or to have an experience  of such grace.

Dont make yourself that being reliant into others or on whats been provided because time comes that we would really be needing to stand on our own feet without having those kind of aid or backups on what we do

There is nothing wrong with the government. It won't be there if it has no use or the economy is not benefiting with it. The problem is with the people who ran it. Maybe they are not the right people for that position. We should only wish for those people to be replaced and not for the government to disappear. People are people. They are not a government but they can unite and protest.

Hopefully those who are on top will follow their request. The title says government job, not government. Without a government I don't think we can survive as there will be no peace and no one will help the poor. If it's only about government jobs, of course we can survive without it. There are so many jobs out there which we can apply.

in order to maintain order, a society needs someone who will impose that order. after reading the post, i have remembered a saying i once read which is, "there is a difference between a good leader and a kind leader". in this society what we need is a good leader since a community is composed of all sorts of people with different values and views in life. the government needs someone like a hungry vulture to help his fellow countrymen seek opportunities. so i don't believe that we can survive without government, and i also agree that it really depends on the ones running the government whether they will share the opportunities with their people or pocket them.

In economics there are three elements which one of them is always leading in every society. The E is Employment. Government uses this to disappoint job seekers, and people are still ignorant of this Element. S is for Self Employed. If 95 % can create jobs for themselves then the out cry of jobs will reduce. And the last one is I and it is Investment. The last one is self explanatory. In the medival era government was creating jobs for citizens, because they where industries everywhere. But in the present days government is not ready to create jobs and employ. So everyone is on their own.

The role of the government in creating jobs for its people is indeed necessary. but it is true that actually we ourselves can also create jobs for ourselves. But the problem is that not everyone has the financial capital to start a particular business. so they still have to look for work and of course hope that there will be jobs that they can hopefully enter. if the government can properly utilize tax funds from the public. then the government can continue to build industry and absorb more labor each year. but the problem is that there are still or maybe a lot of people sitting on corrupt government benches. so that the large flow of funds that should have been built for the welfare of the people was instead used for the welfare of each of them.

I care about the laws that protect workers' rights and I think that these laws should be applied all over the world to the maximum extent, but societies where the state plays an important role in providing employment are societies that are underdeveloped in terms of development. Therefore, I want the employment of the state to be at a minimum level, except for important issues such as the defense industry and health services. I think anyone who loves their country should try to survive without government jobs. I have some harsh and pointed thoughts on this subject, but sometimes I don't want to explain them. :)

Everyone expected to get government job. But is it possible for everyone to get this government job? Of course not and the government can't afford it either. But one thing should be kept in mind that to keep running the wheels of the economy of a country mainly dependent on the private sector.

As much as people developed of any country, there will be more economically more stronger government. If citizen can be an entrepreneur then he does not need a government job rather he can donate enough amount to the government. If you want to do something good, it is better to depend on yourself instead of depending on government jobs.

I don't know brother from which country you are writing but in the context of my country government jobs are invaluable gems for the people of our country. I have also seen people who spend their lives only chasing government jobs. Only government jobs are valuable to them. From childhood, we have only one dream that when we grow up we have to do government jobs. If you don't do government jobs, you won't find your value among people. Even in our country government service is so valued that when looking for a girl for marriage, the girl's father first asks if the boy is in government service. But it never enters their mind that one can live well or manage a family well without doing a government job. If the entire people of a country work in government jobs, then who will work in other important positions of the country. But we are much better off without government jobs.

Almost eight years passed and there might be small variation. Even in the highest level it is possible to see around 70% work force is on the private sector. This is more than enough to realise that people were able to move forward as well as survive without government jobs. When it comes to government job there is less risk of losing jobs which is why most people prefer government jobs.

Well, not most people, as we see from the chart in your post. Most people don't work directly for the government, and, like the OP here, they don't want to be dependent on the government's ability to provide them with job. They start businesses of their own and provide other people with job, and that's a great thing in my opinion. I just want to emphasize that that doesn't give us the right to say "We can do well without government". We can't, and I explained why in in this post of mine above.
