I think what @Odusko was saying is referring to the past actually. Those times they women were not allowed to do certain things with women. In Africa for example, there was a time when a girl child was not sent to school, a time when the boy child is preferred to the female child. The boy child was sent to school and the female wasn't because of the excuse that she would marry outside the family and become the "property " of the husband family and whatever proceed to her as a result of her educational standard would go to the husband and husband family. I have also heard that kind of stories from other countinent. I have heard some countries also recently allowed their women to start driving, go to same school with men.
