Though I understand you made a mistake with your choice of word pertaining the club you intended to write about,  but I think I should correct you.  Inter Milan isn't playing in the UEFA Europa League competition rather it is AC Milan that will be playing in the playoff Europa League after finishing third in the group F in the just concluded group stage of the UEFA champions league so I believe you meant to write about AC Milan and not their city neighbours Inter Milan.
Again, Atletico Madrid finished as the group winners of the group E in the UEFA Champions League and wouldn't be playing in the Europa League.

AC Milan who play Stade Rennais in the playoffs is one of the strongest teams of the competition and it's believed that they're surely gonna reach the round of 16 because their superior number of quality players.  But if they should progress and meet either of Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool,  they might be ousted from the competition by either of the two teams.

AC Mian heading to the Europa are seen as one of the favorites to win this competition judging from the way they performed and the quality of players they’ve, if they build their confidence level to match that of last season's then winning the UEL is not going to be a very big problem, despite the fact that Liverpool and Leverkusen are still in the tournament.

 They’re a team that’s quite determined and have a good experience on European football. But the issue os that they might possibly shy out when they meet with the big boys of the competition amd that’s one thing they need to work on before resumption of the competition in February. This will be quite visible when the division of matches has been determined. We'll see which teams will qualify for the play-off match, as well as which teams they will meet in the next round. Comparison may not be suitable here, but seeing how Bayer Leverkusen is doing in the Bundesliga is enough evidence to say that any team playing against them would have a hard time beating them. There is indeed a significant difference in team quality between AC Milan and Rennes, so of course no one doubts that Milan can beat Rennes easily.

I agree with your opinion that AC Milan would have done much better and get passed the group stage to the round of sixteen in the champions league if they were in a group with average teams but they were in a tough group yet they were able to quality for the Europa after been relegated out of the champions league.

I'm optimistic that amongst all the teams that made it to the Europa from the champions league, AC Milan will do so well even from the playoffs, the competition in the Europa will now be even though due to the presence of these teams and of course the European giants who have been there already before the arrival of the champions league relegated teams, most of the Europa teams asides Leverkusen, Liverpool and Roma, may not be able to contend AC Milan although they are not doing so well in their domestic league but I feel they did prioritized the UCL and may shift same priority to the Europa.

As far as the journey they have gone through in the group phase, there is no doubt that Leverkusen is one of the candidate teams to win the European League trophy this season. Xabi Alonso wants to present a prestigious trophy for Leverkusen this season and of course the European league will be his target. Their performance this season is quite good so I am sure they will be able to reach the European League final this season. I agree about wanting to see the key matches later in the tournament. Im fine with Milan avoiding Liverpool and Leverkusen early. Watching heavyweights fight in the final rounds is more exciting, right? As these top-tier contests approach, enthusiasm increases. Making the finals a great clash is like saving the best for last.

Of course Leverkusen showed a good game and got out of the group without any problems. But apart from them there are other, more experienced clubs. Maybe it will be Roma or Feyenoord.
