This has been the most fantastic season for Leverkusen with Xabi Alonso. Leverkusen appeared dynamic from the start of the season and they were really able to maintain consistency in performance, the greatest thing I have seen over the last few seasons from a team that ended last season with 12 defeats in 32 matches in the Bundeliga.

Leverkusen is the favorite team in the Europa League at the moment after several other strong teams were knocked out by surprise. Previously there were Liverpool and Milan, but both teams ultimately failed to meet expectations.
