In my opinion, better to understand the market and adjust according to the period to be able to benefit from both sides. Now you can see what trends is happening in the market and most smart investors are apeing in to make quick cash to invest on long-term projects.

I don't follow coins that are trending because they are not suitable for the long term, but it's like gambling, it's better for me to buy long term coins even though my portfolio doesn't increase that significantly compared to coins that are trending, it can increase up to 1000x but it can also make our money disappear. Just invest in coins that are long term and have a good future because we also invest with the expectation that sometimes investments do not make a profit or loss but also maintain our own wealth. Well, in altcoin investment, as long as you are willing to risk losing some funds,  you can carry on investing in any token that you think will definitely do well during the bull market. While expecting an altcoin to give you a 100x profit, don't forget that it could happen the opposite way. You can actually do both but for me, I'm choosing the long term projects. I'm not spotting trendy coins but I am sure that I know that I can also cope up with them. Seeing people that are making that much money with these trending coins makes me interested on them.

this is the very reason why it is hard to trust alts especially the new players in the market. you have no assurance that when you wake up they are still in the market as they can easily go down the drain without prior notice.

Market doesn't care about fundamentals, or if your project is good or not. It cares about hype potential, and if the project is exciting enough. Fundamentals are good to sell when they are rebellious enough, tech is cutting tech, revolutionary and easy to market for newbies. And newbies don't care about tech that's few years old. It cares about tech that mirrors their way of life. Something that's fun, does barely exist yet. Something that's more of a promise of what's to come, then something that already exist. That's easy to sell. It's exciting because it doesn't make sense or old farts don't get it.

If you are in for trading, go for trends. Who would wait for years when you can double your money in months.
If you are in for investment and have no time for the hassle of watching prices move everytime, find a good coin and put some money in it and wait till it x5.
Both strategies have its pros and cons. And you can go with both getting the fruits of both trees.
Another way of passive trading+investing is grid trading where you get the profit of price fluctuations till your coin gets to the desired price.

Before answering that question, you need to ask yourself, what are your goals on this market and how do you plan to accomplish them?

exactly, i am also thinking so, long term investment is no doubt one of the best and secure investment but the better strategy is to buy 50% long term coin and 50% for trend base coin. we should not miss any earning opportunity. our mind should set for acquiring all earning ways regardless of long term or short term.

Never try to follow the trend. Just think to stick into the coins that are still having stable chart. Im sure those tokens will be pumped so high. It will be so dumb to follow the trend coz these tokens have been pumped so high. We cna't even expect when a bad news to come.

True, I dunno about meme coins you mentioned but Cardano/Dot failed because there is no community, you rarely see people talking about it on Twitter. depending in which altcoin we are talking because I only choose long term in altcoin when we are talking about Stablished project like Ethereum and the 7 altcoins below that rank so yeah I know that there are chances of them hitting good in Bull market.

I have seen many altcoins, which were once over $250/ coin, and now they are under $10/ coin. They are good for making short-term profits, but the associated risk is too high. Many altcoins you are seeing now will be wiped out of the market in a couple of years. Buy them at the start of the alt season, get profit and exit. Invest only in BTC and ETH if you are going for a long-term investment. ROI in BTC and ETH investment will be similar to those altcoins, but the risk will be much lower.

Short term. Even the longest I've held for altcoins was a maximum of 4, close to 5 ish months. And this is with reputable coins. If it was recently released coins I'd at most hold them for a month and nothing more. The altcoin market is just that risky imo and rather unsuitable for long-term investment. I just don't trust it that much, or well hasn't established as much trust as Bitcoin has with me. Especially with newer coins. The majority of them are shit coins and most of them that pump are just pumps made by the team themselves or some whale wanting to manipulate to profit.

If you want to maximize profit then taking the long term would yield the max results since it has the highest risk, but if you just want to take profit, just shorting them would be enough. It's not too late to short them again when the market once again grows.

But then, what if you use like 60% of your set out money for long term investment while the remaining 40% can go into short term investment. It's best to  be sure about the coin before investing not 100% sure cause no one can be 100% sure about crypto like choosing the coin that will make profit in the bull market I will prefer the long term but it doesn't guarantee profit in the market just like what you said making profit in the market needs a strategy and not all investors can make same profit.

Just because you didn't had the opportunity to be early in some of this coins you mentioned of not been profitable doesn't mean others didn't. I remember very well that DOT was sold for $0.29 at the ico price and it did made an all time high of $55 dollar and is trading today around $7.2, that's like 25x from the ICO price and the listing price was even lower which some many people got below $1 and $2, this investment is justified to be okay for people that bought at lower price exception of investors that bought at high price.

DOT has a bad business model which thats why there aren't many projects in its ecosystem. Their recent update of Dot 2.0 looks promising and that can be game-changing for it though i am not too confident about the project's price due to its token unlock events. In my opinion, there's nothing like long term project investment in altcoins. The only coin that can be used for long term investment in the altcoin family is the Ethereum and most likely BNB can be considered. Every other altcoin does not fit in long term investment. As I said earlier in this case because indeed all those who do it must have been convinced that it was the right decision for them but not for me because it was not my part more precisely I did not really want to take risks with it so I did not do it because it was beyond my capacity but I never forbid anyone to be there if they already know the risks that will be faced but for beginners it is not recommended for that.

Solana has strong fundamentals and it has some good news recently. We also can see the price increase of Solana looks quite fast. Although there is a correction in the last few days, the price has increased again today. In My opinion is better to rely only on buying long term project like the world largest digital currency asset which is Bitcoin it navigates volatility and the risk of monitoring the market condition, concentrating on long term project will give you all the necessary opportunity needed to grow your asset and achieve your goals and objectives which is for future benefits which could be for retirement or creating a general wealthy. The rapid increase in the price of Bitcoin is a shock to many, even as we have predicted that it will beat the ATH, we didn't expect it to have a rapid increase like this.
