Still out of breath from setting a new single set high for myself. Yesterday, I didn’t do any additional weights or exercising other than my 100 push-ups. I also am getting a late start today. That combination had me feeling pretty good when I was around 30 push-ups into my set so I decided to go for it. I gassed out at 70. Still a ways away from 100, but it feels good to be making continued progress towards my goal.
70 in one set!  Wow.  Do you do any warmups?  When do you get your second wind?

Warming up? I don’t believe in it. You ever see a lion limber up before it takes down a gazelle?

https://youtu.be/sMj28DZspVc

Usually I wake up, brush my teeth, then do push-ups before jumping in the shower. Sometimes when I get out I do another set. I’m guessing if I ate right, got the proper amount of rest, then warmed up properly, I would probably be able to do more. That’s just not the way I do things. #Zombieland

Last night and again this morning my arms felt as though they are dead weights after doing my regular (3X12)+(2X12) sets. I might have to work at this level for a few more days before dialing my sets up to fifteen (or doing more sets)

And, by the way, yesterday when I was able to do 10 pushup sets in a day, I am still quite impressed with myself in regards to my average of 53 pushups per set, and sure I will admit that I was somewhat focused upon quantity over quality, but there still is no way that I can deny myself that there are a lot of improvements in my abilities to do pushups, including even being able to do a whole 10 pushup sets in a day.. so I am exceeding my own expectations and even setting higher goals, while at the same time realizing that I can ONLY do so much when it comes to overall physical exertions, so I still have to pace myself and also try to make sure that I am not over doing it in terms of how much time and effort and energies that I am choosing to spend on pushups versus other activities.. or other ways of spending my time and my focus.
[/quote]

This sounds totally challenging in my case, ever since I read this, I was just wondering how I can give it a try.. Hitting 10 sets in a day! Well right now, I can only be able to do that if I from the beginning decides the number per set say between 10-20. Any thing more than than seems to appear as mission impossible. Like doing as much as possible per set, 6 sets might even be overemphasized (talking about me).. It will still wear the same suit even if I go for quantity over quality.
As for higher goals, I believe it remains personal, but that doesn't undermine the boast one gets from others doing the same thing (receiving energy from other people's vibes) Like my decision to do as many as possible in every of my first set (was driven from this thread) I don't remember this all the time anyways but some times its based on the state of being (emotions, health etc).
Just like deciding to spread my pushup all through the day also came up here (choose morning and evening) I couldn't even keep up.

Well this morning I did as much as I could in the first set and I got 50 push ups. Just waiting for evening to see how many sets will take me to 100k. Then my report.

Exactly what I was advising you to do last time, it doesn't matter how small your number of push-up is and like I always said we are not competing with anyone so we should be careful I mean take it easy ( slow and steady) moreover, no one will remove your name from the report list that your number of push-up is very small, we do according to how our body can carry us if you ask me I will say you should do that 3x12 or maybe reduce if possible to avoid any injury.

Being able to do 10 sets of push ups a day with an average of 53 repetitions per set can be said to be quite impressive. Because personally, when I started doing push ups a few years ago, it took me 6 to 7 months to be able to do 50 push ups in one set. So the development you are experiencing can be said to be quite rapid, friend. Talking about quality or quantity when doing push ups, these two things seem to have a positive impact on your body. Because as far as I know, if you want to build bigger muscles, what you have to do is do push ups with few repetitions and use quite heavy weights. For example, if you don't have weights or weights when doing push ups this way, you can do push ups with a slow movement rhythm. For example, when going up, try doing it for 3 seconds and when going down, try doing it for 6 seconds. It has been proven that your muscles will feel hotter, which means they will maximize the muscles so they can enlarge (Muscle tissue is split more optimally).

Then do push ups by prioritizing quantity (push ups with as many repetitions as possible). Doing push ups in this way will indeed be a little less effective in being able to build large muscles optimally. However, doing push ups this way is very good for your heart. Because doing push ups with lots of repetitions is a cardio exercise so it will train the heart better. So there's no harm at all in what you do, because doing push ups in any way will still have a positive impact on your body (whether you prioritize quantity or quality).

And now I have also managed to do 300 push per day, this is quite proud for me personally. Then this is my push up report
100K,Gallar,121,26844,2024-07-24

Overall, I am changing my focus from time to time, and I am not sure what my goals might be later down the road, and for now, I am sometimes alternating between quantity and quality, and I already realize that when I am trying to do a lot of pushups in a day, which includes finding out how many I can do per set when increasing my sets, I am largely back to focusing on quantity rather than quality.

Even in the sets that I tend to focus on quantity, I might have 5-10 pushups within the set that I purposefully do slower than the rest, and I am timing myself, so many times my pushups are less than 1 second per pushup on average.  I have had some sets (in the past that were between 1.5 and nearly 2 seconds per set, and I know that surely the quantity of my pushup goes quite a ways down when I purposefully do those kinds  of slow sets.

Since I have set out plan to try to increase from 10 sets per day (perhaps next time BTC reaches another ATH) to 15 sets per day(perhaps when BTC reaches $85k to $87k) and 20 sets per day, perhaps when BTC prices reach $100k, I am also somewhat focused on quantity, so it might be possible for me to still reach some kind of averaging of between 40 and 50 per set for those 15 set and 20 set days.. .. so yeah, there is a bit of a focus on quantity rathef than quality in order to potentially see if I might be able to do 1,000 pushups in a day on the 20 set day.. .. so I am likely going to mostly have 5 set days as maintenance days until the BTC price reaches those threshold prices when I will try for more pushups after the threshold days, which might have better quality during the maintenance days that have only around 5 sets, and then to have the days in which I do more sets which I will likely be shooting for quantity and just being able to get through that many sets (such as 15 or 20) in a day... which means lower recovery times between pushup sets of less than an hour and potentially even close to 30 minutes between some of my pushup sets, depending on how the pushup sets are going.. .. so yep.. still working up to that.. and having some trepidations (and potential conflicts in my schedule) regarding continue to do so many daily pushups too.

Do push-ups - post report - sleep - repeat  Grin

Another day and another report:

100k,CoinMin3r,56,3790,2024-07-24

I feel like that too sometimes.

For me, I am not really finding myself to be gassing out because there are ways to pace in order to keep being able to breath, but at a certain point my muscles start to fail, and I am not sure if it is the same thing..
Ya, gassing out may not be the proper term. I wasn’t having breathing issues, just feeling like if I went beyond 70 I would be risking injury. Being happy with my new single set high, I didn’t want to push it any further. I have to say that I am pretty happy with myself hitting 70 push-ups in a set. A year ago I had a broken arm which still hurts when I do long sets, but yesterday it held up pretty good. I may finally be close to being healed. If/when that pain stops completely, it’ll be game on.

I still have quite a bit of shoulder pain, but sometimes it seems to be worse than other times, and then sometimes it seems to go away.. .. so I am personally trying to keep some balance in terms of getting enough rest between sets and surely eating and sleeping well too.. . and just hoping that it just continues to build up rather than turning into any kind of repetitive stress injury.. .. Surely prefer to not have any injuries, and so the various building of muscles and continued ongoing improvement that shows in the charts, those can be encouraging towards considering that there is progress and that it is better to be doing the pushups rather than not doing them.

We've had it by date before, it should be that way today as well.

Maybe just having an inactive separation whenever you sort by date for the reports that are greater than a certain number of days.. 30 days might be reasonable, but it does seem like a short period.. but at the same time it is quite a long time of no submitting a report.

Why did you desire the sub groups?
I noticed we had 7 columns so maybe rotate the rankings daily?

The rotation gets confusing.. but it does not really bother me... but there sometimes can be some searching regarding "how is the table being sorted this time?"

Another idea I had was to put the inactive pushers in a scrolling code box to cut down on the post lengths,

Personally, I like seeing it all in one table.

Then does the team summary go below or above?

Below seems better.

My Report: BTC100k,DirtyKeyboard,164,17137
I'm now able to do 15 pushups every minute for minutes 0 through 5 making 90, leaving 10 more for variety pushups.  Smiley
90 regular, 5 diamond, and finished with 5 pushups on the knuckles.

You surely seem to be focusing on quality rather than quantity... and yeah 15 pushups per minute is like 4 seconds per pushup.. and so yeah, that is really slow and surely took you a while to build up to that.. I might try that on some of my sets. No problem to try to mix it up a bit, once in a while... but I doing 90 pushups over 5 minute sounds beyond my abilities, at least my current abilities.  For me, even when I do pushups really slow, it seems I still cannot do them for over 70 or 80 seconds and I am completely worn out, and if I do them really slow maybe I get something around 40 pushups.. so I did not try doing something like 15 in a minutes, that seems more like planks rather than pushups but surely it is concentrating on resistance rather than cardio..

Yeah, I totally agree I've been inactive for a while now, and that is because I've been really busy lately. Though most days I do my pushups but I feel really lazy or too busy to upload the results however it's obvious I have also not been active here on forum, and I just resumed posting. I'm writing to let you know that I'll be resuming my pushups tomorrow.

This might be evidence that placing forum members (fellow pushers) as inactive after a certain number of days (such as greater than 30 days of no report) could motivate them into submitting a more recent pushup report, since some of us might not want to go into "inactive" status, even if the number of days might be considered as being somewhat arbitrarily chosen.

Two days to report on.

Two nights of 2X12 followed by two mornings of 3X12 (120 pushups in all)

I notice you have been very active in this challenge and I like the enthusiasm because I never really expected you to be very active in the participation because you barely stay online often. I am thrilled by your commitment and am fully motivated to be back on set. @diertykeyboard please my name on the table has been deleted, I am hoping I will still be on the list regardless of my not being too active because of my reluctance. Include my name back and i guess I will be starting over again.

100k,Dailyscript,40,40,2024-07-24
I was only able to do 40 since i just started again.

Part of the problem seems to be that you don't seem to know how to submit a proper pushup report, since your report shows that you did 1 pushup per day for 40 days.. which truly is not how you described what you had done.  You are describing 40 pushups in a day and then add those 40 pushups to your other pushups that you supposedly did on other days to get your total days and your total pushups.. so you need to add up.  How many days have you been doing pushups and what is your total number of pushups.

No one is going to completely hold your hand.. or at least I am not planning to, and surely I don't even have enough information to figure out how to hold your hand, even if I were to want to.. absent having to investigate your posts to try to figure out how many ups you said that you did through your previous posts of that information, and who wants to be doing that?  Not this here cat.

Maybe some member will be more charitable with their time and research as to help you out or maybe you need to give more information so we know how to help you to be able to help yourself if you cannot figure out how to do it on your own from the pushup reports that other members are submitting.

I worked up to it.  Right now, I have been doing pushups every day for the past 171 days, and so I had many days that I did 5 sets, and then I even had several days that I did 6 or 7 sets prior to the day that I did 10 sets.. so yeah, I am pretty much working myself to exhaustion or close to exhaustion for each of the sets, and that is part of the reason why I had nearly an hour between each of the sets.

Like doing as much as possible per set, 6 sets might even be overemphasized (talking about me)..

You can work your way up to that. So do 4-5 sets per day for a few weeks or even for several weeks and then maybe do a few days of 7 sets before trying a day with 10 sets. That is how I did it, yet I am sure that there are different ways to accomplish the same thing, since each of us likely have our own pushup limits and maybe we also have different length of times between sets  and it also might relate to our recovery times that we already have built into the kinds of pushup sets that we are doing and the soreness (or the recovery) might not be felt on the same day, but we might feel pain from however many pushup sets that we do for several days after if we are trying to work up to being able to do a certain quantity of pushup sets and/or quantity of pushups in any given day.

It will still wear the same suit even if I go for quantity over quality.

I have had several periods of time that I had felt a lot of soreness and even overall tiredness from my pushups, so I have had days in which I have wondered whether it is worth it to do so many pushups... so there can be ongoing soreness and tiredness that might be caused by pushing ourselves in any particular day that might not result in injury, but we still have to have recovery time and to realize if we might need to slow down or if we might have had reached our level or gotten burned out... So it is good to find a level that is sustainable...even if we might simultaneously be attempting to build our quantity of pushups or our quality at the same time.

I like the idea of competing against myself rather than competing against anyone else, and so we have our different reasons for doing the pushups, and we even likely need to monitor our own ways of doing the pushups to make sure that we are satisfied with the way that we are doing them.  In that regard, we can set goals for ourselves or even try to push ourselves, if we consider that pushing ourselves might be helpful to our own goals and/or objectives.  In recent times I had some friends and family referring to me as muscular. .and so it has been many years that I have heard them saying those kinds of things about me, so they may have had noticed some physical appearance changes.

Just like deciding to spread my pushup all through the day also came up here (choose morning and evening) I couldn't even keep up.

I am getting to where I can do some sets one after another, but when I started I needed around 3 hours between sets and I also really looked forward to going to bed so I could get 8 to 12 hours of rest between sets.  So now, I don't need as much rest between sets, but it still can be nice to have some periods in which there are more than 12 hours between sets.

Well this morning I did as much as I could in the first set and I got 50 push ups. Just waiting for evening to see how many sets will take me to 100k. Then my report.

I think that in one of my earlier posts I mentioned that it had taken me 34 days of doing pushups before I was able to do 50 pushups in a set, and I am pretty sure that my earlier pushups were not as high of quality as the pushups that I am doing in recent times.  I mix high quality pushups with my faster pushups, so I sometimes am able to do pushups with much more extension than my earlier pushups and a lot more strength andconfidence before I even start to feel tired.  So there had been times that I was stuck at 30-40 pushups per set and then times that I was stuck between 40-50 pushups per set (which seems to mostly be where I am at now, even though I can also push myself into doing upper 50s or even into the 60s upon will, which I could not really do that previously (at least not around a month ago). ..so sometimes the improvements seem gradual, but if you are keeping track of your pushups you also might see changes in your times and your quantities.. which I have all of that information in my own personal pushup chart that shows the time of the pushup, the number of pushups and how many seconds per set.

Talking about quality and quantity I think it's based on what you want to achieve that is to say that if you want to have a huge number of push-up ( quantity) I guess you won't be doing it properly as you ought to do it and I think one of it advantage is that you don't easily get tired because you are not doing it correctly and one of the disadvantage is that your muscles won't increase that much because the muscle won't be properly displace and sometimes it can make one have funny shape but if you want your body to have a good shape you should engage yourself in quality push-up though it can be very stressful and being stressful is the reason why it will show very well on your body, so I want to believe everyone knows what they want but for me I prefer quality push-up.

It's been a very slow grind for me, and I completely forgot about this thread but better late than never to join in again! I am up to 137 now, from 73, my chest is absolutely killing me.
