It can make a huge difference to have an emergency fund and a regular stream of income.
Even though the stream of income is irregular, it still makes the difference provided the investor buys bitcoin whenever discretionary income is available. Emergency funds are non-negotiable in bitcoin investment if you want to go long-term, but it is not necessary a requirement to get started.

But blindly holding is not the only solution either. Your investment strategy should also provide for the timing and reasons for selling.
long-term holding is the best approach, if you sell in a short while, unless for unavoidable reasons, it is a bad practice since you could be selling below your entry point and that would be considered trading. Your investment strategy should be tailored in such a way that you can hold for long, which is why it is advised to invest only from your discretionary income and build backup funds so you have enough cash reserves as your fallback plan in the event of urgent want of money and not tampering your portfolio .

Yes I agree that panic selling can turn a temporary price change into a permanent loss. But in my opinion the bigger problem is investing money that you may need to meet your future expenses. If someone has to sell their Bitcoin due to an unexpected expense it would not be right to just call it weak mentality or panic selling. Because an investor has to take into account not only the market fluctuations but also their own financial situation. Having a long term plan is important but that plan also needs to fit the person’s financial situation. Otherwise even a good investment can become difficult to maintain.

I agree with you to some point but you should know that it is not all expenses ( challenge) that should warrant or make an investor to sell their investment, meaning that there are some challenges that are very little that it won't have a negative effect on our investment so this kind of challenge one doesn't need to sell their investment because it is not worth it but those that demands urgency, however we should attend to it because it can be disastrous if we don't...

You said emergency funds are “non negotiable for long term Bitcoin investing” but later said it’s not needed to get started. That doesn’t make sense. You’re misleading beginners

What do you think figuring out your discretionary income is all about? It is not only about finding money you can use to buy Bitcoin. You first need to know what comes in, what goes out and what you can comfortably afford to invest. Build at least 3 months of emergency fund. If an unexpected expenses comes and you have no backup fund, what happens? You either go into debt or sell your Bitcoin, and that defeats the purpose of long term investing.

An investor can face various problems in his life. If he needs financial support then , he should know which fund need to use . If any emergency arises, he should first see how much discretionary fund he has and whether it can be solved with that. After that, if he needs additional money, he can use reserve fund or other back up funds. If all the back up funds are exhausted and even after that, he needs more money, then as a last resort, he should sell the bitcoin. So not all financial challenges are a reason to sell Bitcoin, but there is no opportunity to ignore all challenges either. If there is a small issue, manage it or, if there are backup funds, cover it from there. And if there is a really urgent situation and other options are not available , then selling some Bitcoin cannot be automatically called a failure. Because the purpose of holding bitcoin is also to provide financial security in the future, so that any financial problem in your life can be easily solved.

He is right, emergency funds is important in holding bitcoin for a long time. Not having an emergency funds or a backup funds will make it impossible for a long time holders to be able to hold their bitcoin without selling. However, it is possible for a newbie that has figured out there discretionary income to start their bitcoin investment even without an emergency funds. They can setup an emergency funds as they are ongoingly accumulating bitcoin. Therefore not having an emergency funds shouldn't stop someone that has figured out there discretionary income not to invest in bitcoin

If you are not able to find discretionary income in a week or month, then the best decision for you is not to invest. Because whenever you are willing to invest outside the discretionary income or invest outside the discretionary income, you will invest the required amount of money and due to this wrong decision, your investment may be at great risk and you may have to sell it at a loss. If discretionary income is not available in a month or week, then definitely stop investing in that week or month and find discretionary income in the next week or month through proper financial management and start investing.

If a person does not find discretionary income in a month. If he has some more funds, such as emergency fund, reserve fund etc., then he can definitely take money from the reserve fund and buy. If someone can be sure that he has enough reserve fund or other funds, then he can do it. But yes, it has to be rebuilt as soon as possible.
I truly understand your main point. but it not necessarily mean investors must figure out discretionary income every single week or month from starting. Fingers are not the same, for some folks, finding discretionary income is a gradual process that comes in better budgeting and learn how to manage their funds properly. So if somebody is unable to invest a single month just because there is not enough funds left after the expenses, that don’t really mean they are failed or they are lazy. That period can be use to plan and improve their finances to invest ahead, what necessary is not to force investment when money is needed elsewhere. I think with period of time when the financial improve, they can lean how to manage their funds more better by gradually creating discretionary income and investing consistently.
Everyone's income, expenses, responsibilities, and financial capacity are not the same. Some people's income may be low, some people's family responsibilities may be high, or their income may be irregular. The first goal should not be to force money out for investment, but to understand your income and expenditure structure. And to develop financial discipline to create investment opportunities in the future. Some people may not have enough money left over to invest after meeting their essential expenses in a given month. It is not reasonable to say that you have not invested, or that you have failed. Analyzing how to increase income, which expenses are essential and which can be adjusted in the future can create some money for investment in the coming months. Discipline in investing and forced investing are not the same thing. Discipline means following your plan. It does not mean that you have to continue investing even if you have a financial crisis. It is not just about buying Bitcoin as soon as possible, but creating a financial system that allows you to invest in the future and does not put pressure on your daily life and important financial responsibilities after investing. If someone cannot invest today, it can be seen as an opportunity to improve their financial situation, learn to budget, and lay the foundation for future investments. As financial capacity increases over time, that person will be able to move towards regular and long-term investments by generating discretionary income more easily.

One should plan their bitcoin investment in such a way that selling out of panic or those unavoidable reasons can be prevented. Since the goal is long term an investor should ensure he’s investing with his discretionary income and creating his emergency and reserve funds…. As it is very essential to the success of his investment.

Atleast to get starts started you don’t need to wait till you’ve built an emergency fund before starting, you can build alongside your investment. You can decide to start small since there’s no emergency fund, at that point there's no pressure on you.
To maintain your investments for a long term you definitely need to have emergency funds but it’s a prerequisite to get started. I hope this gets you clarity.

An emergency fund shouldn't be underestimated by long-term investors, even though it might only last three or four months. However, it certainly has greater benefits for the investor in the event of a sudden downturn, allowing them to maintain their Bitcoin holdings without having to sell them due to a cash shortage. This means that every long-term investor should always calculate their regular income and expenses to clearly determine the amount of capital available for Bitcoin investment and avoid feeling pressured. Furthermore, it's crucial to consistently purchase Bitcoin if we don't experience financial problems or other unforeseen circumstances.

You may be confused, of course an emergency fund is essential, but if someone does not have an emergency fund at the time of starting investment, then it is not at all the right decision for him to wait to start investing for an emergency fund. An emergency fund is definitely essential.

If a person does not have an emergency fund at the beginning, then if he is willing to create an emergency fund first and then if he is willing to invest later, then during this time he can miss out on many buying opportunities, waste time, and fall far behind the goal of building a portfolio. So instead of waiting to create an emergency fund before starting investment, you can move forward with emergency fund and investment in parallel.

You can divide your discretionary income into several stages, such as emergency fund, investment, extra expenses or creating other funds. When you divide your discretionary income, you can move forward with investments, emergency fund, other funds, etc. together.

Our discretionary income is never created in advance, we have to find it through proper financial management. If a person cannot do proper financial management and is not able to find discretionary income, then he may invest the required amount of money, which is not the right decision at all.

This is a common mistakes that some investors make especially the newbies investors is that they invest in bitcoin using their main income and not from their discretionary income, when the price of bitcoin is moving downwards they'll panic sell their bitcoin investment because they re not ready to be at a loss  because the money that they use in investing in bitcoin isn't their discretionary income.

Discretionary income is the only income that is essential to invest in bitcoin so any investor that invest outside of their discretionary income, that isn't investment anymore, that's gambling.

Those that want to invest with this mentality are not actual investors; their only goal is to profit. Many people buy Bitcoin with the expectation that the price would rise in a few days and they will sell it for a profit; but, when the market becomes unstable, they sell out of fear. Essentially, investors strive to hang on to more Bitcoins when the price lowers, but those who arrive with the only intention of generating a profit do not keep such a plan.

Definitely, getting a source of income is the most vital aspect of investing, especially when you invest all at once; if the market falls and you do not have the money, you will be unable to buy again. In any case, having a source of income will be beneficial for investment, and establishing an emergency fund before investing is much better. If someone loses money by investing in Bitcoin, it is best to wait a while before selling because the market will not always fall, but will also rise.

Dude, as an investor your main goal should be how to get your discretionary income, forget just having a source of income because it is possible for person to have a source of income yet the person cannot have their discretionary income due to reasons such as plenty expenses, low income. IMO, Discretionary income is what is beneficial for your investment

Have you by chance come across the strategy of that is know as DCa. DCa is a strategy for ongoingly accumulating bitcoin. In DCa, person don't have to invest all at once. They stretch out the amount they want to buy over a period of time. In so doings they also stretch out their risk, and promotes consistentcy in their investment.

Just invest and build emergency funds along the way, that is a more better way to invest without delaying. Investing ongoingly so you will build your bitcoin stash rather than selling. It is when you start selling that is when the real loss actually happens

Have we thought about why people resort to selling when they face challenges? It's obvious. People are forced to sell on every small challenge they face because they invest all they had in the first place. They have no back up funds, no emergency funds and the worst, they didn't invest with discretionary funds, they invest all they had. When you're in a situation like this, selling becomes your first option during challenging times instead of being your last option if you had emergency funds on ground. Challenges never end, if selling your investment is always and only the available option during every challenge, you'll never compound. To be honest with you, you're not even investing, you're just saving.

Yes,  people sell because they have not really understand what emergency funds is all about they think that investing all their funds is what really matters, what matters is when you invest the little you have and keeping a room for emergency funds if there's any challenges time instead of being caught on any situation I no challenging never ends but people should invest with the mindset investment is not something one invest during weeks he decided to sell just because the problems he is facing is unbelievable the best method is to invest with that you may not regret tomorrow.

A person buying for short-term profit can be a trader  it is a legitimate financial activity. In the case of Bitcoin, those who buy based on a few days of price increases. Market volatility can be a big problem for them and if the price does not increase as expected, they may panic and sell. Long-term investors usually consider short-term price fluctuations as part of their main plan and can continue to collect gradually even when the price decreases if they have the ability. There is no obligation to buy more when the price decreases. The investor's financial capacity is important here. The investment money should not be mixed with daily expenses or emergency money. Therefore, there needs to be a clear balance between income, expenses and investable money. Having an emergency fund also reduces the pressure to sell investments in the event of a sudden financial problem. The market may increase in the future or may remain low for a long time. There is no guarantee that the price will definitely recover at any particular time. Therefore, just as not selling just because you are at a loss is not the right decision, it is also not always reasonable to sell in a hurry out of fear. The goal of a long-term investor should not be to chase quick profits, but rather to create a financial structure that can survive as planned, even during market ups and downs.

Definitely, getting a source of income is the most vital aspect of investing, especially when you invest all at once; if the market falls and you do not have the money, you will be unable to buy again. In any case, having a source of income will be beneficial for investment, and establishing an emergency fund before investing is much better. If someone loses money by investing in Bitcoin, it is best to wait a while before selling because the market will not always fall, but will also rise

The most important aspect of Bitcoin investment is discretionary funds not source of income, because there are people who have a source of income, but they always find it hard to have discretionary funds after taken care of their  expenses because what they are earning is not enough to cover even their basic expenses.and If someone does not have discretionary funds, they should not invest in Bitcoin because, even if they try, they may regret it and they end up selling it at wrong time. Why would someone try to invest only once when there is a DCA method to use? Which can help  investor  to be getting Bitcoin at different prices by investing weekly or monthly.it never  a good idea to wait for the price of Bitcoin to fall before they can accumulate more. Once someone has discretionary income, they should always try to accumulate continuously, because timing market may lead and investor of missing opportunities

You said that establishing an emergency fund before someone starting to invest in Bitcoin is important. I would say that is wrong approach trying to  wait until the emergency fund is fully established before starting to accumulate Bitcoin.the best approach is for someone to start both together and if it can't both accumulating bitcoin and building an emergency funds, it better to start with Bitcoin accumulation and follow later in building an emergency funds.

You have a misconception an emergency fund is important in the long run. It is not mandatory to have a three-month emergency fund before starting Bitcoin. These two statements are not contradictory. If an investor has a small discretionary income every week after meeting all his necessary expenses, but if he does not yet have an emergency fund, then he does not need to stop buying Bitcoin completely. He can start collecting Bitcoin in small amounts from a part of that discretionary income and at the same time create an emergency fund. While an emergency fund is not mandatory before starting Bitcoin, it should be considered after starting. And it is not the case that everyone needs to create a three-month emergency fund. For someone with a stable job, a three-month emergency fund may be sufficient, but the needs of a person with irregular income, family, or more responsibilities may be different.

There is fund one need to accumulate with and the funds is not the little one have but it is a fund one can afford to lose or let go which is our discretionary income because you will agree with me that it is not all little one have they can afford to let go or lose so we have  to specify the funds so we don't give newbie the impression that money needed to invest in Bitcoin is the little they have please no, that is not true and the discretionary income must not be small which is to say that it can be big and it can also be small depending on the capacity of the person.

It is not good for an investor to use all of their discretionary income to buy bitcoin when they have not set up a backup funds. If they are face with an emergency they will be left with no other choice but to sell there bitcoin in other to be able to solve whatever problems they maybe facing. Therefore, all long term investors should setup a backup funds by using some percentage of there discretionary income for buying bitcoin the other can be used for setting up a backup funds. It is not accumulate much bitcoin and at the end without being able to hold it for a long term because we fail to tailor or size our bitcoin investment according to our financial situation.

For starters it's not really advisable to use all your discretionary income to buy Bitcoin without having back up funds aside, your investment is likely to not survive as long as it's planned for. Although it's okay to put more discretionary income into buying Bitcoin because the more you invest will determine what you are likely to get in future. But as long as you're not being too reckless and you're not overlooking any aspect of it and you are investing within your means then it's okay to not invest little by little.

I'd say there are instances where one can invest at the start without having room for emergency fund yet due to inadequate funds, they can put all they have into Bitcoin but doesn't necessarily mean they are ignoring having back up funds. They can start investing and putting more into Bitcoin while looking for other means to sort out back up funds for the time being. Emergencies do show up unexpectedly but doesn't mean they'd show up immediately. If your funds can barely be enough to invest and have back up funds it's better to consider what you hold first.
