⚽ EFL Carabao Cup 2026/27 Season

I'm very happy about the outcome of today's EFL cup final. I personally know a couple of Arsenal fans and they have been too vocal about winning the Quadruple this season. Losing the EFL final means they're down to treble own that might reduce to a double as well.

This is what I find almost every day on social media, especially when Man City continues to lose points in the Premier League. Arsenal fans (though not all)  always say it's time for the Quadruple.
Treble, double? I'd say Arsenal will probably only secure the Premier League trophy this year, The FA Cup still has Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea as opponents, and the UCL is too difficult in my opinion.

Kudos to Guardiola as well, he's such a superb coach. I knew that City won't let the EFL final go to the hands of Arsenal after they lost embarrassingly against Real Madrid in the UCL round of 16.

Man City is very fortunate in their current situation, they can still add another trophy to their trophy cabinet. Pep can leave City with peace of mind. Congratulations to Man City.

I'm glad to see that Manchester city have something in return this season because it would have been too bad for them if they didn't lift the trophy. To be honest this is what I was expecting to see at the end of the game because they don't have any place to whole hands, this was their only hope this season, so it's good to see them celebrating again. But Arsenal can be unpredictable sometime this would have also go a very long way for them but it's well.

Manchester City have guaranteed finishing the season with a trophy at least. Because they weren't giving good signals at all about it. The only tournaments they could win looked as these local cups.

I think they will give their everything in the FA Cup as well to do double. Maybe even Arsenal and Manchester City can face themselves again there. But I would expect Arsenal to take that cup more seriously.

Replacing Raya with Kepa has to be the reason why Arsenal lost in the final. Kepa's rating said it all. It's a blunder from Arteta. So pep was able to capitalised it as advantage. You're right if it was Raya, it might be a different result. Beside that Arsenal also has so many injuries on their side. So those are reason why they could perform well in the final of league cup.

Missing league is not something needs to be upset, but kinda different if they bottle their 90% chance to win the league. 

When I saw this lineup, I was confident that the match would be a tough one because the squad of both teams seems to be very stable. Arsenal attack was a sharp one and likewise Manchester city attack. So I didn't see any reason for Arsenal to pack the bus. Although I did not watch the match but when I saw the results I was upset because even if I were to be the Arsenal coach, even without a coaching experience, I was supposed to win the match with moral and motivation.

Why was Raya not on the goal post. If you want to do any experiment or gambling, would it be with the final match. This was the same experiment his master Pep Guardiola has been doing for couple of seasons now. I will not be surprised if Arteta has learnt from him. Anyways, there are other opportunities.

There is no way Pep Guardiola won't win a trophy this season if he goes to 2 finals. It's really sad for Arteta that after all the struggle to win this Carabao Cup, he still got spanked by Pep, the Premier League Arteta is going to win is because Pep because inconsistent if not it would have been a terrible one for Arteta this season.

And the funny thing is that it feels like all the competitions knockout rounds lookes like they where tailored favour Arsenal to the finals even the FA cup and Champions League. If Man City later gets to the final of the FA Cup, am not sure Arteta can deliver that.

Considering the fact that they are eliminated from the Champions League and their hope of winning the Premier league this season is slim based on the points gap given to them by Arsenal, I also expected Manchester City to win this final even though Arsenal needed it to boost their confidence in winning the Premier league title this season but it has turned out to be a lucky day for Manchester City; congratulations to Pep Guardiola, I am happy they didn’t go without a single trophy despite all the money they spent in the summer transfer and well as the January transfer window.

The management will be happy and will be planning on how to defeat Arsenal to boost their confidence on the title chase because if the can be able to close the gap to around four points, they can fight till the end, but if Arsenal did a revenge in their premier league game, then they title chase should be a considered over because that’s the truth.

In my locality, a multitude of Arsenal fans came out with their Jerseys and all to cheer their team to victory, in their minds they’ve won the trophy already. But it was such a heartbreak for all of them, the silence after the game was deafening I couldn’t bring myself to mock them anymore, I had wanted to ….. Did a little banter after the first goal and immediately the second it was finished.
Year after year we see the same results from Arsenal, they have to fight for every game now until the season is over to make sure to win the league.

It does seem like that, aside from that, this win actually gave Pep a chance to salvage his season, although his performance isn't as terrible as most people will like to attribute it but with this Carabao Cup, he can be able to say that atleast he won a trophy this season. But a good thing for those Arsenal fans is that they get to win the Premier League this season and that should be enough consolation for them.

Honestly, who would have expected Manchester City to win Carabao Cup final?
For me, I really thought City would lose this one. Because they just got eliminated from UEFA Champions League so I think momentum didn’t look good. Then in EPL, their last match against West Ham United ended in draw eventhough that was must win game since they are chasing Arsenal in EPL title race.
On top of that, odds were favoring Arsenal plus they had homecourt advantage. Everything pointed toward Arsenal winning.
That’s why result feels really unexpected for me.

One lose and Arsenal fan lose their mentality online. You still go on to win the next games ahead.

In my head, I have always thought it this way, Arsenal losing this particular finals, but winning the Premier league competition and  also getting to the Champions League finals. In that lane, they do not have anybody capable to stop them from getting to the finals. The Premier league is the utmost price, Arsenal can not lose focus.

Until Arsenal wins the trophy, I won't put such expectations on them since they have a habit of bottling trophies. Imo, the only trophy they almost have their hands on is the EPL. All other trophies (UCL and FA cup) are essentially coinflips. I won't be surprised if arsenal gets knocked out of the FA or UCL in the semis. I think one of the two cases or both is likely.

They had more ball possession in the match but there was more of a balance as for the shots. Arsenal found the target more and had even 2 shots hitting the post...

If Calafiori / G. Jesus scored that instead of targeting the post then the final minutes would be a chance for Arsenal to come back. That's good for Guardiola though rather than finishing the league trophyless.

Congratulations to Pep Guardiola he has shown Mikel Arteta who the boss really is. Yes, Manchester City dominated Arsenal in times of ball possession but in times of total shots in the match, Arsenal and Manchester City had a total of ten shots each but Arsenal has four shots on target, Manchester City has two shots on target which ended up at Arsenal's net. No one knows what the outcome of the match would have been if Arsenal had converted their two shots that hit the goal post into a goal, but I am happy as Arsenal didn't equalize against Manchester City.

The cold and pressure is really on both sides in the first half that's why they find it hard to connect like they used to, since is the final I expected the first half to be goalless but the Gunners are still going to win. Manchester City are still having that sluggish way they started with this season so it will be hard to cause any harm to the Gunners.

They played carefully in order not to make any mistakes for their opponents to see as an advantage over them. Of course, City dominated the game but they were unable to get a shot on target. I believe we will see something different in the second half. One side will break the deadlock. Whomever, breaks the deadlock first might win the game. City still dominates as they pressure Arsenal defense.

City didn't do much, actually I blame Arsenal for letting their guard down, allowing Manchester City see more of the ball is a dangerous thing to do knowing fully well the team you are playing doesn't waste time in finding the net. Is really sad that I had to cheer for Arsenal and they lost this first trophy of this campaign. Arteta need to change how he approaches games especially in any final that's if they can reach the UCL finals or the FA Cup finals because if they use this same energy I don't think they'd survive it. The EPL title is still theirs to keep and this loss against Manchester City should not bring the good energy they have for this season, losing this game doesn't mean they won't win any title this season, 1 down 3 more to go.

In this EFL Cup final we saw the mentality of both teams and indeed mentality never lies when playing in a final. What makes the difference is team mentality. If we look at the actual squad Arsenal has a good squad this season. If these two teams meet again in the FA Cup Man City will likely win again. In this EFL Cup final we saw the character of both coaches. Pep Guardiola showed more maturity. He focused, played patiently and ultimately won. Meanwhile, Arteta played a less varied game. While they had good control their play wasn't fast.

This final defeat certainly puts Arsenal under even more pressure especially in the Premier League. Moreover, Man City are already eliminated from the Champions League, so it could be a boost for City to focus fully on the Premier League. Furthermore, they have a game in hand and still face Arsenal in the league. Certainly, Man City victory in this EFL final will make the EPL competition even more exciting even until the end of the season. Arsenal need to be careful even though they are currently far ahead of Man City, but if Arteta doesn't improve soon defeat in the EFL final could have an impact on the EPL match.

Pep Guardiola is very much aware that his chances of winning any trophy this season is very limited and after seeing his team get eliminated from the UEFA Champions League competition last week so I know he'll not even gamble in today's game. Just like o expected Manchester City, they gave their all to make sure they win today and lift their first and probably last trophy of the season. For Arsenal, I think this defeat will motivate them to put in their all and win the EPL

Indeed they have. Am now heartbroken that my club won't be winning any major trophy this season, rather they would be finishing top three in the premier League table this season. However, Chelsea would end up in the same category with my club this season trophiless. So I don't have to feel bad that much. But champion league is guarantee for my club, but for Chelsea I don't think so.

Manchester City would definitely give their all in the FA cup, but wining the cup is not guarantee. If Manchester City end up facing arsenal in the final, the match is going to be an interesting one and a tough one. Because arsenal will take the final more serious, they can't afford to lose FA cup to Manchester City, after losing the Carabao Cup to them.
