We could be walking into another worse activity that could ruin us faster than the normal sports or casino gambling we playing with a chance of earning profit. I agree that physical activity is more important if you want to divert your attention from gambling for some time. The reason is that once you are with family friends or on outing, you do not have access to your computer and maybe you will not gamble during that time. However as per my personal experience, if you start playing computer games, and if you get bored, sooner you will be urged to gamble and since you are already on the computer, gambling is just a click away (means easy to access).
