I believe that you both are both right in some sense. Of course, gambling is not the most difficult method of earning money, but it can surely be described as a least stable one. Surely, it is easy to win twice the money in a few seconds by making just one bet but the problem is how to repeat the same gambling outcome. Gambling is not a steady income as one would have in a regular job. This is the reason emotional control is so significant. We should learn to live with the fact that we will not win every single time and we will not win. I think the most important thing here is the mindset, I like to see mindset as the core thing, because when a gambler has or approaches gambling with the right mindset, then adhering to the rules of gambling or employing the right approach kinda comes naturally and makes it easy to avoid falling into common gambling traps. Actually, consistenty is completely opposite to the concept of gambling, so when there is a gambler who tells me they have gotten consistency through casino games and they are getting money in a daily basis thanks to it, I would immediately call it bullshit.

I've meet someone who was addicted to porn and because of how difficult it is for him to stop, he then believed that it's impossible for anybody to stop watching porn once they get hooked, if you tell him you were once a porn addict but have regained your freedom from the addiction, he will never believe you no matter how much you try to explain and make him understand..

Emotional tolerance is on different level on each person and thats why even though you arent a gambler and on the moment that you do gamble on your first time and since you are that having that higher tolerance then you wont be having that much of disappointment at the time that you do lose, in comparing into those who are short tempered on which it is highly reactive. Although it doesnt mean that you do have higher tolerance means you wont be that reacting too much because this would be that on situational basis because not all would really be having also that kind of control specially when losing money. We do know that we dont like on losing money and thats normal, no matter how high your tolerance is but still you would be having that kind of reaction on which it would be leading into betting or gambling impulsively.

I would say that the thing that you do need is to have the awareness on what you are doing and always not forget about risks management on which this is something that you do need up to consider on the moment that you do gamble.

When I participate in gambling, it becomes very challenging to control myself, especially when I lose multiple bets. However, I give myself a weekly or fortnightly budget and when that budget is over, I never find myself participating in gambling. And I also have another parameter where I do not participate more than two days a week or three times in 15 days. Keeping the budget and days fixed is one of the main tools for my emotion control.
