I don’t have much expectation that we will be able to get past PSG to make the semi finals but we have a punchers chance, right? At times we have been terrible this season under Slot but the magic of a cup competition is that the best team doesn’t always win it. PSG are definitely the better team but a guy can hope can’t he Surely, all hopes are not lost for Liverpool because this is football and the UCL at that. We have seen surprising results from the beginning of the Champions League games until now. Liverpool has more Champions League history than PSG so they can still make something out and shut their critics. Maybe the match might just be like that of Galatasaray where each of them won at their respective homes. PSG can win at their home while Liverpool can win at Anfield, what Liverpool should avoid is not conceding many goals as Chelsea did concede to PSG. On the other side, PSG is the defending Champions, they won the UCL last season after many years so this could be their opportunity for a back-to-back.

It's true that Newcastle won't be on Barcelona's level because the gap between the two is so obvious, but being thrashed 7-2 was a real humiliation, like Barcelona playing against a second division team, it was a real shame for them. I thought Newcastle could have fought back a little, but the pressure of playing against Barcelona at Camp Nou made them helpless, and that resulted in them being eliminated with such a heavy scoreline, that their fans even went home before the game was over.
English clubs has just been a disgraced, only two teams qualified for the quarter final, only because they played against teams that are not strong neither competitive in the league. It is so embarrassing if they say the Premier League is a lot tougher than other league, whereas the Champions League is dominated by La Liga teams, even the great Pep side could not defend against Real Madrid, Newcastle was just another victim we long expected to be an easy pass for Barcelona.

I do not want to cook the English clubs beyond reasonable length but what I can voice out about what has happened is that the league is overrated and it is affecting the clubs thay they feel too comfortable to think that they can conquer any other leagues club at any playing field. This should serve as a time of reflection by the English FA and the clubs to put in more work and cut off unnecessary hypes that is not supposed to be just to sell their league to the world.

I think this is a bit of an anomaly. I mean, England managed to qualify five teams for the round of 16. This shows that at the league level, the EPL has many great teams, as they were able to beat big teams from other European leagues in the UCL group stage. But in this knockout stage, mostly only the best teams from Europe's top five leagues remain. And here, almost all EPL teams can't compete with teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, or Bayern Munich. So I think the EPL is still the best because it has a tougher level of competition than other leagues. But calling it the best league in the world is another matter, because the best league means having the best teams in the world and being able to compete at the highest level in the UCL. I don't think the two remaining EPL teams will be able to qualify for the final or semifinals this season.

This should serve as a time of reflection by the English FA and the clubs to put in more work and cut off unnecessary hypes that is not supposed to be just to sell their league to the world. You can see how quickly everything changes. Two weeks ago it was said that the EPL is above every other league and they were praised for the qualification of 6 teams! Now 2 teams are left and I think apart from Manchester City, the results were no surprise. Atletico to beat Tottenham, PSG to beat Chelsea, Barcelona to beat Newcastle and then of course the unlucky match for Manchester City. It was not like anyone thought they could get all 6 teams into the quarterfinals. They still collected a lot of points for the club ranking, but it is disappointing for them for sure. Galatasaray and Newcastle both didn't have a realistic chance. It's possible to beat Liverpool at home as Galatasaray, but defending that advantage in Liverpool was highly unlikely.

English clubs have been humiliated, you're right, but in my opinion, Manchester City has had the most humiliating performance among these English clubs in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matches. This team has not been able to withstand Real Madrid in any match of the Champions League knockout stage. However, we saw another team that showed the most weakness in the second leg was Newcastle. They earned the honour of drawing at home against the mighty Barcelona in the first leg of the UCL Super Sixteen but after that we observed something different as in the second leg, Barcelona defeated the English club on their home field by a score of 7-2 and reached the quarterfinals.

The two clubs you just mentioned right now, their result is still surprising me even after the match have been played. But this is pure disgrace to them, Manchester city against Real Madrid and Barcelona against Newcastle, this two match is not what we expected happened. Especially Manchester city match. they couldn’t do anything against Real Madrid and it’s so bad, La Liga teams actually surprised us though, let’s see the quarter final matches, if this same clubs will repeat the same against the clubs they will be meeting.

Liverpool was the only one that really showed quality, but Galatasaray is a team that struggles a lot when playing away. Chelsea got knocked out by PSG and really embarrassed themselves, i thought they had a team capable of more, but PSG looked way better than i expected.Barcelona dominated in every part of the game, and Newcastle barely managed to stop themselves from conceding even more goals. Tough competition for the english teams, but at least Liverpool is there to keep the average up

I don't recall an English team conceding 7 goals in a single match, but Newcastle set a precedent for us. Barcelona, on the other hand, intimidated their opponents by scoring 7 goals against them. One of these opponents is Real Madrid, with whom they compete in the league. In the Champions League quarter-finals, they are paired with Atletico Madrid, and we will likely witness another Spanish clash. They've faced each other many times this year, but I'm curious to see if Atletico can replicate that performance in the Champions League.

Surely, all hopes are not lost for Liverpool because this is football and the UCL at that.
I doubt them for a back to back victory, only Real Madrid am I confident of when it comes to back to back victory in the champions league. Liverpool are not a soft team in the champions league and just like PSG, they’re not the type of team you’d assume that you can win easily without putting in the best of performance. PSG and Liverpool clash will also be one of its kind that many will anticipate to watch to see what the results of the games will turn out to be. PSG being the defending champion in the one that needs to be more careful in this game, they shouldn't allow that mentality to overwhelm their performance in this game or they’ll be surprised how they’ll be eliminated from the champions league so easily.

Once again quarter finals are filled with teams from the Top 5 leagues. This time Portugal is represented by Sporting. Sometimes it's Porto or Benfica in this spot. Outside of the Top 5 leagues and the Portuguese league, no other European countries really have a chance in the Champions League. The Dutch league is in decline lately, while the Belgian and Turkish leagues are not strong enough to compete in this level. The gap is really huge and getting bigger every year.
European Super League they planned was canceled, but with the new Champions League format, they've effectively secured this dominance even further. The chances of lower budget teams reaching quarter finals are almost zero.

Surely, all hopes are not lost for Liverpool because this is football and the UCL at that.
With the PSG/Liverpool match-up, PSG's target after Chelsea is clear. Liverpool seems quite impressed by their pace and will take precautions against PSG. Looking at the next stage, like last year, there's no chance of them being drawn against a Premier League team. They'll either face Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. That's why they easily beat Chelsea. I think the other match will be more exciting.

Galatasaray achieved their goal in the Champions League, and I think they were eliminated in a very good position. Osimhen's injury in the Anfield match was unfortunate, he was a key player and got injured early, preventing him from focusing on the game. Apart from that, I expected the team to be a bit more resilient and play better I didn't like their tendency to dive and fall in certain situations.

Tough competition for the english teams, but at least Liverpool is there to keep the average up
Liverpool and Arsenal are still in the Champions League. Out of the 8 teams in the Round of 8, there are 3 teams from the Spanish League, 2 teams from the English League and one team each from the German League, the French League and the Portuguese League. That is, we are now seeing the dominance of the Spanish League, they have the most teams in the Champions League. Even Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are in great form and are giving any opponent a hard time. We are definitely going to lose a team in the quarter-finals, it could be Barcelona or Atletico Madrid. However, the Premier League teams have not been able to make much of an advantage this season, while Liverpool and Arsenal have been reliable teams in the Champions League so far, while the rest of the teams have been very badly eliminated. Arsenal dominated the group stage but have been a bit weak in the knockout matches. Even if they manage to get a relatively weak team in the quarterfinals, the semifinals could pose a major obstacle for them, as they will have to face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

I think even reaching this stage was a great stroke of luck for Galatasaray. I congratulate the players for seizing this opportunity. Osimhen did more than his best throughout the tournament. Uğurcan also made some fantastic saves in goal. Galatasaray doesn't seem to have many problems, but the squad quality only allowed them to go this far.
