Arsenal had a good run in this season's champions league phase and they did the unthinkable, unbeaten 8/8 no lost game and it seems like these guys are ready to take on any team that comes their way. At this point which of these teams are capable enough to stop the Gunners; Dortmund, Atalanta, Olympiacos and Bayer Leverkusen...can they stop Arsenal?

It's true that all the teams above are not on the same level with arsenal, but arsenal needs to be careful by the threat pose by these teams because this is the knockout stages, and as we can all attest to, winning all your group stage games doesn't guarantees anything, since teams knows that they can be forgiven or left off the hook if they lose a game during the group stage, but in the knockout stages, they can't afford that. So we should be expecting teams to give and fight more than what they experience during the group games.
Though arsenal remains the favorites to qualify regardless of any of these teams they will later face, but they need to be at their very best if they must progress to the next round of the competition, because group stage games are totally different from knockout stages.

I don’t think that loss was because Mourinho knows the default of Real Madrid, but Real Madrid also played rubbish in that game. If you watched that game, you would be disappointed in them. Although it has happened, how does it make sense that they got two red cards in that game? It’s still a surprise. Real Madrid were just playing like beginners on the pitch.

For me to be fully sure that Real Madrid lost that game because Mourinho knows their default, as he was once their coach, I would also like to see that happen with Inter Milan so I can be sure. But for now, I believe they lost that game because of poor performance.

No, if you are asking if my opinion because Jose Mourinho might have done his analysis on this real madrid team, and he knows how to stop them in finding their rythme, and yes it might work, and it can also not go as planned, just like their game against Chelsea, but discrediting his work is what I don't think that makes sense, since he is a tactically sound coach.

Good of you, I was also expecting the Real Madrid to defeated Benfica in that match, till today I am still having the pains of my betting loses because it was only then that made me lose my money, well when we talk of key players between Real Madrid and Benfica, they are far from each other's skills, almost the Real Madrid players are talented in conceiving goals opportunities, but i don't really know what comes over then to allow the Benfica to defeated them.

However, I was fully impressed with the Barcelona and Chelsea's performances in thier matches, Barcelona played the match with full force and passion and they were able to secure the victory, same thing applicable to Chelsea.

Right now I'm so ashamed of Real Madrid and it is a condition I fell they've inflicted themselves, removing Xabi Alonso to be replaced by Arbeloa was the most embarrassing decision the team took in my own assessment this year, I don't understand the reason why you will remove a creative chap like Xabi Alonso who led the Bayer Leverkusen to their promised land in the previous seasons of theres. I have always seen Real Madrid's future to be bright under the Xabi Alonso tenure before I saw they at the management level were not ready to do right thing.

Thus is something that needs to be confronted and addressed by the president of Real Madrid and if it is not, they'd most likely end up going trophyless again this season.
Player power being given to players in the dressing has been causing a whole lot of disagreement. We all saw how it played down with Xabi Alonso,  if Arbeloa fails to handle the situation well enough, they'll lose games and more trophies. It sad thing is that, a player like Vinicius will be used as a scapegoat  ( he'll be sold ).

mbappé played seven matches in the champions league group stage this season, scoring a total of 13 goals and contributing to the score in five of those matches. no matter how you look at it, this is an incredible statistic. a detailed breakdown of his goals is as follows:




madrid finished the league stage in 9th place, so they will also play in the playoffs, and i think mbappe could break the champions league scoring records this season. madrid is a strong team in the knockout stage, and if they don't get eliminated in the quarterfinals, the number of games they play will increase, which could be an opportunity for mbappe.

This wasn't really just "bad Real Madrid" type of situation, they played alright, the problem is mostly with the fact that Benfica played great and got very lucky as well. What we can see is that, Real Madrid wasn't really bad, they played as well as they possibly could, and yes normally if they play ten more times, nine out of ten Real Madrid would win, but at the end of the day Benfica got a bit lucky and that last goal was entirely based on luck and nothing more, could have ended in even a tie.

Real Madrid is certainly a great team that can create many actions that can lead to the goal but this cannot do so if it then underestimates the opponents, clear that this is only a passing thing but in the meantime Benfica who are not so strong have managed to go to the playoffs.

Looking on current form and they way Arsenal has played in the competition this season, I don't think any of this teams can defeat Arsenal in the next round, but this is football and anything can happen. To be sincere I think Arsenal is the best team in the competition right now, and I really don't see any ream that is up to their level,  but like I said this is football and anything can happen, but I think Arsenal should go far in this competition.

Real Madrid's chaos against Benfica was very apparent after Mourinho was able to read Real Madrid's attack, making it difficult for Real Madrid to win and equalize after being a goal down. And even more painful was the final goal against Real Madrid, which was headed by the Benfica goalkeeper. This was a very embarrassing incident for Real Madrid, a team that has had more Champions League success than any other. Now Arbeloa has the tough task of fixing all of this within the Real Madrid team, because if the team's condition continues like this, there is a possibility that Real Madrid will be eliminated from the Champions League this season.

Real madrid will face Bodo/Glimt or benfica. It is more likely that the teams in 9th and 10th place in the table will play against the teams in 23rd and 24th place in the table. Benfica will face Mmadrid or inter milan.

Benfica has proven their ability. They won the match against madrid. They were able to perform exceptionally. So if they face Madrid again in the play-offs , Madrid will definitely be  under a lot of pressure. Madrid's performance has been inconsistent with Arbeloa. I would not be surprised if Madrid even misses  out in the play-offs .

Thankfully Galatasaray didn't lose by a huge score gap and we are moving on to playoffs stage.    But we really played terrible against Manchester City. We should be thankful for them about not playing the match at their usual pace.

It is a work over match for Arsenal because none of these four teams are capable of kicking Arsenal out from the Champions League. They don't have the strength and quality. I have given Arsenal an automatic qualification to the quarter finals and I will love to see which team Arsenal will play in the quarter finals. Arsenal might be lucky to play teams that they're stronger than till the finals.

That trust I have for them is no longer them, not because I'm doubt them but due to their current performance and how they tend to show some level of consistency has drastically reduced. On the other hand, I also acknowledge that Benfica played very well in this match, and in my opinion, this is a huge surprise.

As for Real Madrid, I think there aren't many good prospects for them this season, especially when it comes to competing fiercely in the Champions League. I think the chances are very slim. I don't mean to underestimate Real Madrid, but I'm looking at this realistically.
