What am I seeing??? Atletico Madrid is angry, a revenge for the last meeting against Barcelona. I can't believe this is happening at Spotify Camp Nou, and no thanks to the red card issued to Pau Cubarsí, Barcelona would know the importance of the guy in their team now. Just shortly after he was sent off, Atletico scored their first goal and Barcelona team has never remained the same. I don't think they can score a goal with the way things are going, let alone equalizing or even win the match again.

Lamine Yamal really deserves massive respect. The guy pulls off 3 to 5 highlight reel moves every single match. Even when a giant like Barcelona stuck, finds the only solution in getting the ball to him and waiting for him to work his magic  . and the guy is only 18 years old.

Enrique didn't waste his time buying several good wingers as they are valuable in today's football. Good wingers not only help in 1v1 situations but also give PSG the courage to attack. This is also why Luis Enrique is considered an impressive coach, as he knows young players can exploit their speed and are brave in one on one duels on the wings.

On the other hand Liverpool loss was as expected but this defeat was particularly surprising because not a single one of them managed to register a shot on target. This was certainly embarrassing as Slot came to Paris with a pragmatic plan. Furthermore, Slot lacked a strategy to inspire enthusiasm in the match. Liverpool's players clearly lacked the desire to play with focus. I've never seen Liverpool play this cowardly and loser like in the Klopp era. Slot and van Bronchorst were truly bad for Liverpool.

Cubarsí's red card turned the game around but what surprised me the most was how quickly Barcelona lost their nerve after conceding the goal

Atletico's midfield was completely blocked, forcing Barca to try and cross out the wings. But with no finishers in D box to put the ball in the net, those crosses were nothing more than a waste of time

The real challenge for the second leg is not just scoring goal early on. Barca will have to figure out how to break Atletico's low block. Because if they do not play carefully there won't be anyone behind them to block a counterattack and Atletico will bite hard if they find a gap

I expected a bigger scoreline in this game, PSG was just wasteful in this game. PSG really dominated the game from start to finish as they were more coordinated. PSG should be more clinical in front of goal in the return leg because if they play this way in the second leg of this match because they could get punished if they play a team that is good defensively and is good when it comes to the attack.


For Liverpool it's obvious that Liverpool is not ready for any tournament, Liverpool performance was pretty below average I was not impressed with the performance that Liverpool gave yesterday. Barcelona couldn't stop Atletico Madrid from scoring one more goal in the second half. Atletico Madrid scored another goal in the second half and won the Barcelona 0-2 at Camp Nou, and as it stand now it will be difficult for Barcelona to overturn this defeat on the home soil of Atletico Madrid. With Atletico Madrid winning 0-2 at Camp Nou, Atletico Madrid are at advantage of reaching the semi final and since Raphinha wouldn't be available for Barcelona in the second leg, I think Atletico Madrid will reach the semi final.

After the red card, I expected them to crumble and concede 2 or 3 more goals in the second half, but they held on and conceded just one more. They just couldn't score, which might come back to hunt them. If they had managed to score a goal or not conceded another goal, they tie would have been more open than it is now.

There is little chance of Barcelona doing a comeback next week, but I know there is a possibility of that. If it will be difficult without Raphinha, but I know they can overturn a two goal deficit.
Personally, I don't see them doing it without Raphinha, but we have see way more unbelievable things in football. Barcelona will defininatly believe they can and we have to wait and see how it goes.
Why I doubt them is their attack. Without Raphinha, Lamine is the only productive player in the attack. Ferran, Lewandowski and Rashford are not good enough. It will be almost impossible to overturn a 2 goal defincit with such an attack.  

I think you are being a bit harsh here on the their attack , yes missing Raphinha is a big blow no doubt but writing them off completely might be too early Barcelona have shown plenty of times they can control their games even in tough situation Lamine can carry it all alone but the truth about it players likes Lewandowski and Ferran are still capable on their day they have been inconsistent not weak but if they click at the perfect time a two goals deficit is not impossible to turn it around.

I'm not harsh on Barcelona and I didn't attack Barcelona, I rooted for Barcelona to win Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou but I was so disappointed with the result of the match because I never expected Atletico Madrid to Barcelona, and since Atletico Madrid won Barcelona 0-2 on Barcelona home ground, I believe it will be difficult for Barcelona to overturn the defeat they conceded at the hand of Atletico Madrid on Atletico Madrid home ground without Raphinha.

Can we just say that PSG erased Liverpool from the pitch? I guess we can!    Because it was really what they did. Liverpool had 3 shots in total in the whole match and none of them even on target...

PSG could have won by a much bigger score than this as well. They wasted a ton of chances. But I don't still see a problem for them. I don't find Liverpool strong enough to make a comeback at Anfield despite its atmosphere.

Liverpool was totally owned in through out the match, I was watching over and over again where PSG were just out in the half of Liverpool and playing as if they were up against a second division team. The way the ball was being passed and tossed around the Liverpool players was something else. The score line didn't reflect the action on the pitch on the side of PSG because they would have a whole more, thanks to the Liverpool goalkeeper for being good last night, because he seemed to be the one that kept the score line this minimal, I saw chances being missed by PSG players both in the first and in the second half which would have put the tie to rest in this first leg.

i was not aware i’m hyping him up, actually. But in an economically collapsed Barcelona the need for a total restructuring inevitably opened the doors to the starting 11 for Yamal unconditionally. and Yamal is taking full advantage of this.
it’s also not quite right to make direct comparisons. Yamal is already the brain of Barcelona at 18. but for example Messi was 18, he was coming off the bench because at that time Barcelona was a club packed with elite, world class players.

Atletico Madrid have taken the advantage of red card by adding another goal just as you predicted. I like the way they perform because once they see any opportunity they are blow it up, I am still not comfortable with their Victory because Barcelona is a very dangerous team that normally come back is never a problem to them even though they went for an away match. Atletico Madrid should also reflect to their home and away match they play this season, I know barcelona was defeated but Atletico Madrid faced a lot of challenges in their second leg which i will also expect that to happen, so they should try to look back so that they can easily eliminate Barcelona from Champions League.

Other match Arsenal almost went home with a draw but Kai's late goal saved them and earned them a win against Sporting.

Arsenal was lucky to get a win from away there play wasn't okey for me, Sporting has more chances of scoring but couldn't put any in the net. Bayern Munich can be very determined at home and they still have more chances of qualifing if they never underestimate Real Madrid because 1 goal on aggregate isn't much 1 zero win from Real Madrid will get them play an extra time which can also possibly end in penalty which any side can qualify, for now what will happen in the second leg still remain uncertain.

Looking at the conditions of the game indeed in the first 10 minutes and in the crucial minutes before the end of the match there were several opportunities owned by Sporting but overall Arsenal were slightly better in terms of the statistics they had.
1 goal is very good especially with the second leg will play home it will make them more confident in the end.

For their chart, I actually feel that they are still going to the semi-finals but for their opponents, although Atletico are currently very good at getting 2 aggregate goals, the situation is still uncertain.

I don't  still consider all they did last night  a surprise, all goals were scored after the red card, I expected either a draw , 2-0 or 3-0 after the red card. But , it's  true every gambler who placed a bet on the lowest  odd  which is Barcelona,  will be surprised how the game turned out , still a different kind of surprise  and not about  their performance at all.

Second leg will be hard for Barcelona, the only way they can win is equalizing very early.   Anything from 60 minutes above  will be a total lock down from Athletico.
They should have just maintained the 1-0 instead of doing a full attack

Still, Barcelona played very well in that match, even though they ultimately lost after being reduced to 10 men in the 44th minute. in the 17th minute Barcelona actually scored a goal, but unfortunately they were offside.

And perhaps if Alvarez’s free kick hadn’t gone in, Atlético madrid would have only managed to score one goal in that match. But I’m quite optimistic about the second leg; I think Barcelona will at least manage to level the aggregate score and might even take the match into extra time or a penalty shootout. Or I even think Barcelona could turn the tables, since Atlético Madrid actually struggled quite a bit in the first leg as well.

Meanwhile, Barcelona created many chances in the first leg. it’s just unfortunate that they truly failed to capitalize on every opportunity they had. And that’s quite disappointing. Usually, Barcelona has a good conversion rate when it comes to capitalizing on chances.

This was just the most surprising result of the night... I was so confident about Barcelona to tell the truth. But after such an unbelievable red card by Cubarsi everything changed!

Advancing to next round will be much harder in Madrid and I've lost belief in them quite much.    If they lose once again it's going to be their 3rd time being eliminated by ATM in the CL. Simeone is very good at dealing with them every time here.

Barcelona is already not an amazing defensive team, so the fact that they got a red card with Cubarsi was obvious that they were having trouble. This is not the first time they lost to ATM, they lost at the cup as well, just the other day they won against them too, which shows anything could happen.

These two teams have faced each other quite a lot recently, and this season they played more games than usual, because they do not always face at the cup, sometimes they face Real or whatever, but even if they do face, that doesn't happen to be also on UCL at the same time, league, cup, UCL, they face everywhere.

Barcelona actually surprised everyone in this match, despite playing at home Barcelona was the favourite to win this match. And honestly I expected Barcelona to win this match against Athletico Madrid, they missed many opportunities despite Yamam been giving many chances as he can, they keep missing the chances till the last minutes of the game.

This is not what we all expect though. But as you said we will see what the second leg will look like, we can’t really assure them anything Athletico Madrid will be playing at home in the second leg, so we should wait and see how it turn out to be.

That red card for Barcelona's Cubarsi at the end of the first half really changed the game. If not for that, I think Barcelona would win it.
The rematch is going to be intense. There will be no time for Barcelona to play things slow. They will have to press hard from the start, while Atletico will be looking to sting them with counterattacks.

If all the winners from the quarter-final go through to the semi-final, we will see the following pairs:

Bayern Vs PSG
Arsenal Vs Atletico

This would be a good scenario for Arsenal, as Atletico is considered the weakest club of these four. But I still see Bayern as the favourite to lift the cup.
