Dr Congo might seem like less competition over Algeria but I strongly feel it's not true because this same Congo have been unbeaten in the group stages, same as Algeria so it would be a struggle for the both sides. I'm not expecting Algeria to also seat on their horse and underestimate their opponents so it's going to be tough. Who knows, first half could even end in a draw.

Well, the first and second half ended in a draw as both sides failed to find the back of the net. Like you noted, it was actually a tough as both sides held the line in their defense as the gane went on to the 90th minute goaless. Algeria seemed to come alive in the second half of the game as they maintained possession with the ball but still failed to find the back of the net.
I had thought the game would eventually go into penalties but Algeria was saved by a substitute as he went on to score a nice goal that has made them secure a place in the quarter finals and is now set to face Nigeria on the 10th. Now, that's going to be a tough game.

Algeria was able to get a goal which sealed their victory over DRC in this crucial game of the Afcon, but I was not impressed with the performance of the two teams especially Algeria going by the way that, they have been playing. But this game was a tough match because both did s were discipline enough not to to conceive a goal but going towards the attack the Both teams were poor as there was no clear cut strike on goal that was really impressive to me.


But for the super eagles of Nigeria the now knows their opponents which they will take on in the quarter finals of this competition. The technical crew should study this Algeria team and come up with a formation that will be effective because this is a side that is fast and so the defense line up should be ready to play a good because the Algeria players looks sharp.

Nigeria easily beat Mozambique without much difficulty. They won the match 4-0. I was going to bet on at least two more goals in the second half, but I hesitated a little. However, Osimhen didn't hesitate and made it 3-0. So I gave up on betting.

I couldn't understand why Osimhen clashed and argued with Lookman. Nigeria is currently my biggest title contender, but this fight could negatively affect the team.

He was in a better position, but Lookman decided to strike. This wouldn't have caused such a degree of anger and verbal attack. Victor even disrespected Captain Ndidi by pushing him aside when he tried to stop the confrontation. It was shameful since Nigeria was winning the game and he had already scored two goals.

As much as I love and respect the Galastataray striker, I don't like his issues with anger. He should be humble and respectful because top clubs might not want a player with such behavior. He should apologise to Lookman, the team, and Nigerians.   

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering what made Osimhen lose his cool after scoring two goals. Osimhen is our best striker regardless no one is above the team. If other players in the team get influenced by him or have similar temperament then what will happen to the team? I think it’s time for the manager to act, Osimhen should understand that he can’t go off on his teammates without consequences.

What a game it is going to be, Nigeria v Algeria, i really cannot wait for it. Algeria has former City attacker Riyad Mahrez in their team, and they are also a decent side as a whole, but i have complete trust in the Super Eagles and i think we can get past this hurdle. Win this game and we would be one game away from the final, C'mon Eagles, soar.

That said, with the confidence the Super Eagles have showed thus far, i am not scared of any team, bring any team on and i believe we can beat them. I hope i am not being too confident, but you really can't blame me, can you.

Tanzania was a strong team this Afcon, Morocco found it hard to win them, Tunisia is not the only strong team Nigeria has faced in this Afcon, in Africa the underdogs can swing differently when you don’t expect them to.
Egypt did not lose to Benin , the game was draw at full time and Egypt score two goals in extra time.
Nigeria played well and their next opponent is not yet know because Algeria and Congo are going to extra time.

I don't think so, the kind of game they played against the Super Eagles, I don't see much to appreciate in their performance. It's possible they played good with other countries, because I only watched their match with Super Eagles and to me they didn't performed well. Super Eagles have several chances to scored them like five to six goals but they were just wasting chances.

I really need to commend the Super eagle's effort in this year's AFCON tournament, they have been really impressive in their last games this tournament, they don't have any single draw nor have they lost any game, they have been winning all their games from the day 1 of this tournament and if they continue like this they will definitely be the African champion and I believe with this their form they can do it. Let's win this guys!

Honestly Nigeria performance in this AFCON is much better than the previous one. In the previous one we saw how they were struggling to win their matches, which is why I wasn't surprised when they lost in the final. But this time around they're playing well, as I always expected from them. They have a crucial match in the quarter-finals against Algeria; if they can win that, they have a possibility of reaching the final.

Well guy the super eagles guys really made my day honestly speaking when I such their at some point i was wondering if they could win the game completely but it came to an end with a good result for the super eagles guys all thank to their hard work and experience not even minding what there are passing through from the NFF this show that there are the bigger boys, Ademola Lookman was really on top of his best shoots today this shows that they are perfectly capable to win the game for this season, well but on a second thought this happened last years when the super eagles made us believe in them well at the end it was a rig game…

We were really impressed by the Eagles' performance and we must continue this trend. The goal scored by Ademola Lookman in the 20th minute with a great shot from Akor Adams' assist was really amazing. And five minutes later, Victor Osimhen scored the second goal for the team with an assist from Akor Adams and from then on, Mozambique was basically disappointed. Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams later scored a goal each and Nigeria won 4-0.

Interestingly, many are comparing Ademola Lookman with Antonio Di Natale after seeing his two assists and one goal and his performance on the field.

Nigeria football team played very well in the last match because they did 4 goals in this match which was not an easy task for any team and opponent team could not perform well in this match and they did no goal in this match which was very poor performance by that team and they should try to attack in this match but they could not attack in this match because opponent team position was very strong in this match and they bent the match to their sides because they did 4 goals in this match. Osimhen was a match Winner of this match because he did 2 goals in this match and he did first goal at 25 minutes and he did goal again at 47 minutes when it was need of the team. Opponent team stats was not good in this match.

This is the problem that I habe with these set of players in the Super Eagles. They have pride and ego which has been the reason for their downfall. Look at Osimhen because he played with a weak team and was scoring easy goals, he's raising up his shoulders as if only him can play the match and score without anyone assist.

In other games apart from this competition, why didn't he show his ego when their opponents use to trash them. Osimhen should hide his face and go back to Turkey if he wants. Who cares.

He was aspiring to score 6 goals since the team is weak, besides, his action has caused Nigerians not to jubilate for the supposed victory, the team should be focusing on the quarterfinals maybe with Congo, but a huge distraction has set in due to Osihmen's ill behavior. However, Adam Akor whose mom is ill has left the camp to nurse the mother, hopefully he'd be back before their next game, also quick recovery to the mother.

Osimhen's attitude is getting out of hand, regardless of what your teammates might have done to you on the pitch, you should wait till after the match to complain whatever you have in mind, I heard rumors that he has asked to leave the camp in the middle of a competition. Osimhen's should conduct himself in a manner that shows that he is a professional, he had almost the same similar fall out with Finidi George, the federation looked the other way, allowing it slide.

This Victor Osimhen issue reminds me of Ballotelli. He was a fantastic player, one of the best in the premier league but his attitude overshadowed his talent. Clubs were skeptical of signing Ballotelli because they were worried about his attitude towards managers, teammates, and rivals. Osimhen should learn from others that have come before him.

Algeria won the match and that is important for them. They are playing bad honestly and they got lucky today to score in the last minutes. Congo is a solid team and could have went further but Algeria is just better. So far all the favorites are winning in this tournament and we dont have any surprises so far and that to me is really wierd. Not a single underdog so far has passed any of the big teams in africa

Nigeria was quite outstanding in that game. I believed they could come out with the win in that game but I didn't envisage that number of goals. Nigeria started strong and scored in the first 20 minuues of the game, scoring another goal minutes after the first. I particularly liked that Nigeria played well and didn't conceive any goal in return. I knew Mozambique wouldn't be that much of a threat to Nigeria but I had thought they could manage to score a goal.
Nigeria had a really good performance and was rewarded with 4 goals. Really amazing performance from the lads.

I don’t think this Super Eagles team are outstanding, because they’ve not really played a very good opponent, all the games they have played are games they’re meant to win on paper, When was the last time have we seen this Super Eagles team running a riot against an opponent that should tell you that this game was already lost before it was played, I’m still yet to be convinced about the Nigeria Super Eagles, I’m waiting when they will play DR Congo or Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, this are team that I’m waiting for the Super Eagles to play against and if they come out Victorious then I will have to be convinced that they are a good team.

I will never be impressed by Nigeria Super Eagles for not qualifying for the World Cup.

You are just the one underestimating the strength of the Super Eagles in this tournament, those countries you are mentioning deep down they are scared of meeting the Super Eagles. Out of those countries you mentioned it is only Algeria that has maintained a perfect start to the tournament so far, others have dropped points in games they should have won. If they were that good as you are making them look they would have won all their matches. Have you asked those countries and they tell you that they want to face the Super Eagles? Those countries are scared of facing the Eagles and am just hoping we will meet them so we will clear your doubts.

DR Congo really played an impressive game though they were the underdogs but they are no longer the underdogs in this competition, they’ve come a long way in their football development, from winning Cameroun in the playoffs to defeating Nigeria and then playing a 1:1 draw with Senegal at the group stages to now taking Algeria to the Extra time and losing it at the dying minutes. Though they lost they’ve truly impressed.

Ivory Coast is cruising through Burkina Faso and are showing strong. Amad Diallo has been impressive for them, a young lad taking the reins of such a big Nation, what we love to see.

The super eagles have been flying high in the competition but will now face an opponent that I think has got all it takes to match their strength in the competition, so I want to see if they'll be able to still score multiple goals. Against Algeria or will they be eliminated from the competition. The Cameroon Vs Morocco game will also be a good game to watch if you ask me because of the quality of players in the team.

People call it passion but let’s be sincere this is no where near any passion because when it is passion it will be coming at a time when the club is losing not when they are actually winning, yes Lookman was looking for more goals himself but there is nothing that justifies that disrespectful attitude by Osimhen because we have seen it repeatedly all the time and let’s be sincere he wasn’t remorseful when he walked out of the team.

He is our best striker at the moment but not our only player and if the reports of him quitting the national team is actually true then he should simply be sent packing or at least be dropped to the bench for the next game because we cannot because of a single player destroy an institution and disrespect other players, good riddance to egoistical behavior

It will be a very Tricky game between Morocco and the Indomitable lions, Cameroon on paper are not actually the favourite but they have what it takes to actually hurt anybody in this tournament. They have a very good history of knocking out host nations, maybe there feet will continue again in this tournament. As for Senegal vs Mali it should be a win for Mali

Algeria been able to withstand Nigeria's attacking strength is  from your own point of view because i don't think Algeria has what it takes to stop the super eagles tactical display when it has to do with chance creation and goal conversion technique which was the reason Mozambique was eliminated in there last game. Its sure and certain unbelievable things do happen in the game of football but the probability that it could happen in that game is what i can't see come to reality.  For now in the Africa cup of nations, i don't think there is any team dangerous as the super eagles because of how dominating and possessive they are in there previous games.

Benching him is currently not in the picture because it is obvious that the team already showed that without Osimhen, they can not score a goal, so such actions are more of a suicide mission if the coach dares to do so.

Osimhen performance has been so good, but he should learn to control himself. With the way the super eagles are playing right now, it’s obvious that they can’t really score without Osimhen, so the coach shouldn’t even make the attempt to bench him, he is not a player that the super eagles can bench, because if they can do that it’s really going to affect them.

All I will say is that the coach will have to talk to him, his character is just so bad, he is a talented player with a bad character, but the super eagles don’t just have choice because they have no alternative. If they have alternative, I will have been in support of him to be bench, but with the way super eagles are playing, they shouldn’t even try that.

This is the time to really test the strength of the Super Eagles because they are meeting one of the strong countries in African football namely; Algeria. Nigeria has not been able to win Algeria in their last 3 meetings even though 2 out of the 3 was International friendly matches. The Super Eagles must prove that the winnings they have been getting in the AFCON is not luck but pure creativity.

Cameroon versus Morocco will also be a tough game because the host which is Morocco will be fighting to reach the finals while Cameroon won't also loose guard because they possess strong mentality which helped them stood against strong teams like South Africa and Ivory Coast so it will indeed be an epic clash.

Algeria and Ivory Coast have qualified for the quarter finals, and the round of 16 has ended. The quarter finals will start on Friday, this stage is going to be tough because all the countries that qualified for this quarter finals have strong squads. Mali will face Senegal and Morocco vs Cameroon. Honestly I can't bet on any of these games because they're tough matches that I feel will be difficult to predict, and I always like to bet on easy games that I know will favour me.

The following day, Super Eagles will face Algeria. This is going to be a tough game as well, but in my opinion I'm more comfortable with Nigeria getting the victory because they're more in form than Algeria.
